meeting the president

Chapter: *Meeting* *The* *President*

The figure seating on the throne’s piercing gaze landed on Parker. A strange stream of energy shook his mind and his eyes felt like it had exploded into thousands of pieces and the wracking pain was so intense, his body was drenched with sweat.

The pendant on the necklace gave out a soft glow, immediately dissolving the pain and stabilized his mind.

Parker coughed out a mouthful of blood and didn’t dare meet the eyes of the president’s figure.

Greenwood snorted and hefted the obsidian scepter. He didn’t also dare look into the eyes of the president, but he was physically ready.

“I thought you said he wouldn’t attack,” Parker groaned in rage.

Greenwood’s expression twisted in fear.

“He isn’t supposed to. His strength should barely just be in the half-step gold realm. I don’t know why he isn’t taking a passive stance in this confrontation.” Greenwood’s voice was lanced in a bit of fear.

The figure on the throne chuckled and stood up, a green robed middle aged man came into view, his head full of silver hair that draped down to his back, his eyes sparkling with intelligence and seemed to carry a unique charm to it, an overbearing and authoritative aura shot out from him, he had the grace and elegance of a ruler seemingly etched in his bones.

This figure was no other than the renowned President of the Sapa lands.

The president beamed a smile and vanished, appearing behind them with his hands placed behind his back.

This simple harmless action caused Parker and Greenwood’s backs to be drenched with sweat and their scalp going numbed. They immediately turned to face him directly.

‘Hmph. Something isn’t right. This aura of undulations seems rather forced and a bit weak.’ Parker analyzed the pressure he could feel from the president.

Greenwood’s tensed expression eased up, and he even broke a smile.

“Welcome, lads. To what do I owe this pleasure?” The President’s voice was rather cool and pleasant to hear.

“Well, you owe us your life” Greenwood grinned, a bloodthirsty aura erupted from his body, seemingly forming a blood colored domain.

“Is that so?” Surprisingly, the president’s expression didn’t change, not even his voice lost its calmness.

Greenwood didn’t notice this, but Parker did, and he found it very suspicious.

The man clearly knows Greenwood, and himself were top expert in the void realm, yet he didn’t flinch. Perhaps the pride of a former gold realm expert was really bone deep.

‘it seems, he doesn’t know, there’s two more people coming’

Parker concluded and looked at the president, avoiding his eyes.

Even though the man is greatly weakened, a gold realm expert still isn’t someone a mere void realm person like him could trifle with.

“It is so. I will so enjoy killing you, but we will save the major show for later. I’m still expecting some guests” Greenwood smirked and retracted his domain, his hand also behind his back and it seemed like he had the upper hand.

The president stroked his chin and smiled.

“Alright, I will wait as well. I sincerely want to see all the clowns that wish to kill me.” A bone-chilling tone lanced his voice.

Almost immediately, a dazzling bright light, as if a star illuminated the void.

It grew from a small white dot until it punctured through space, revealing a figure bathed in gold light. The light made the figure look as if it was a god of war.

“Sharon?! Good, good. You’re just in time for the party. Been waiting for you,” Greenwood’s excited voice sounded out.

Sharon’s eyes swept through the surroundings and she spotted a green robed middle aged man with his hand behind his back and a kind smile beaming at her.

Sharon was slightly puzzled.

“Greenwood, nice to see you again. Oh and you, Parker! And this fellow over there must be the president” Sharon wasn’t slow witted. She quickly noticed the strong and oppressive aura emanating from the man and evaluated.

The president gazed at her, looking every bit like an ancient primordial beast staring at its prey. This caused a slight chill to run across her.

Her intuition was screaming danger, but she quickly suppressed it and flew over to Greenwood’s side.

“Looks like I was slow and here I thought I might have been one of the fastest breaking through those formations,” Sharon chuckled and joked.

“Well, at least you’re faster than Roy!” Parker laughed.

As if the universe heard his words, another bright beam of light shone through the surroundings. It started from a dot, then grew in size before tearing through the seams of space and arriving here.

It was a ghostly, illusionary figure. Its body ghastly light had dimmed down, flickering in and out of existence. The figure looked extremely bedraggled.

“Curse this pocket dimension, first, it had fire elements suppressing my innate affinity like yang to yin then now, I happened to have to fight a gigantic silver ranked flaming creature, that had the dimensional advantage to itself,” Roy’s angered voice reverberated through the surroundings.

Everyone grew silent. Honestly, they didn’t expect to see him in such a miserable state.

Roy quickly noticed his surroundings and saw everyone staring it him as if a ghost but of course, he looked like one but this time, there was a trace of... Pity? In their eyes.

Roy finally knew they must have heard his incessant rants and found out about his miserable state. He felt as if he should bury himself in a hole.

Roy composed himself and flicked his sleeves.

“What are you delinquents looking at?” Roy snorted and flew in Sharon’s direction. He had noticed they have all had grouped together.

This made the cut-out figure of the president standing alone more apparent and easy to identify.

“Good, good. We’re all here. Roy, good to see you again!” Greenwood nodded and gave him a thumbs up.

Sharon and Parker nodded too and smiled, but to Roy, it sounded as if they were mocking him.

Instead of whining and throwing tantrums, he quickly assumed the pose of an expert, straightening his back and hanging his head in the skies, looking down at the rest aloof, and nodded.

This slightly took aback them, then quickly smiled. They were happy. Roy had gained his confidence back, even though he was pretending.

“Well, well.. Hate to break up the reunion party, but it seemed you lots are all here for me, or is there more?” The president’s icy crisp voice sounded out, causing the expression of the group to change slightly.

“This is all that would be needed. Having any more would be overkill, even this is already overkill, don’t you think, Mr. President?” Greenwood’s bloodthirsty voice replied. He was acting as the de facto leader of the group.

“Well, I think so but before I die, I’m also expecting a guest, so you lots should hold a bit, after all, I waited for you all to arrive here,” The President smirked and a blood right light flashed from his eyes.

Immediately, all their expressions warped into fear and terror.

‘An unexpected guest from the president? This isn’t what we planned. Was the president already expecting us? Are we here like fishes on a chopping block?’

Parker’s mind raced, and he quickly accessed the unbelievable news rushing into his head.

Greenwood stood in absolute shock. He didn’t expect this in the slightest; it seemed his info was very lacking. In fact, he didn’t know if they had set him up or not.

The pitch-black void shook and numerous motes of red light coalesced into a door, placed above the throne. The door creaked open, revealing a black-robed figure passing through. The door vanished after he walked through.

The black-robed figure was a rather handsome youthful man and exuded a certain charm.
