Selena’s POV:In the middle of the night. An annoying owl had been hooting outside for a while now.Everyone in the villa was sleeping, except the one and only me, the upfront woman who got her nose broken by her own son-in-law. Staying up for this long and doing nothing… this probably didn’t happen in a long time. When was the last time I stayed awake like this? Yeah, when I found the guy I loved so much was just a liar with a fake identity. His whole goal was to trap me and keep me enslaved to sex, but I found out his true identity. It turned out he was sent by the mafia, who wanted to control me through him, because I was a rising star back then. If I hadn’t known that fact, I would have married him and probably wouldn’t have known to this day that he never loved me. Just thinking about it still gives me goosebumps. It was Jacob who made the mafia back away and not interfere with my life. I ended up marrying him, and it has been sort of a roller coaster ride ever since. Still not
Benjamin slept in Rebecca’s room last night, on the same bed. He slept very peacefully, but his snoring gave her quite some trouble. She was once again reminded of the days when he used to live in her room, but back then, there were at least two different beds, but now, he was sleeping right next to her.Even covering herself with a pillow didn’t help her much. After a lot of struggling, she got an idea and shoved some part of the bedsheet in Benjamin’s mouth. That did the trick, and then Rebecca was able to slip into sleep.Despite sleeping late, Rebecca woke up at around six. Perhaps, it was because she walked a lot the previous day, her legs felt somewhat sour, even after Benjamin massaged them. Her stomach also made noises, but after seeing Benjamin still sleeping, she was shocked.“Hey, get up!” she pushed him left and right without hesitation. “If you are here, who’s going to make the breakfast?”“The maids will take care of it,” he mumbled. “Don’t worry.”“Oh, so you told them
“Your nose looks a lot better now, Mother-in-law,” Benjamin remarked, and Selena snapped. She threw the bowl in Benjamin’s face. It hit him right in the face, leaving everyone at the table in shock. Benyamin got so angry he was about to stand from his seat, but the finger movement from Ryan made him swallow his rage. Still, his neurons were on flames. Throwing food in his lord’s face was something he couldn’t bear to watch. “Mom!” Rebecca stood and glared at her mother. “Apologize to Benjamin. Right now!” “Are you out of your mind, Rebecca?” Selena didn’t back down. “He’s the one that should be apologizing! Not me! Didn’t you hear him mock me just now?” “I wasn’t mocking,” Benjamin wiped the oatmeal from his face. “I just said that your nose looks better than it did yesterday when you suffered an injury.” “Stop twisting your words to make yourself sound nice, you shitty brat,” Selena howled, even though her nose was hurting everytime she raised her voice. “If you’ve read ten leave
After Dewar shot Shawn, Andrew buttoned his suit. “It’s morning, but well, I should at least attend the poker games now. Can’t wait to play with the infamous SFF Charles. I heard that he became a billionaire in under a year? He’s definitely worth crushing, huhu.”At the same time, Shawn crashed into the waters, feeling completely hopeless, with pain greater than what the bullets had given him squeezing the pits of his belly as he swam toward his son’s direction, his broken knees trying to straighten up so he could reach his son as fast he could. He hadn’t even taken a deep breath before falling into the waters as the bullets had stricken his back. Still, even though he felt powerless, he didn’t give up on his son. He managed to reach Roshan and hugged him before swimming as efficiently as he could with his wounded, bleeding knees.Tears leaked out of Shawn’s eyes, as with every inch he swam up toward the surface, he was getting more and more distant to his father who kept sinking deep
In the kitchen, Benjamin was preparing a meal for himself. Rebecca, after finishing the breakfast, sneaked up and shut his eyes from behind.Time passed, but Benjamin didn’t even respond.“You’re so boring,” she harrumphed and gently hugged him from behind. Again, there was no response from him. He kept cutting the almonds.“I’m going out,” she reminded him. “Aren’t you forgetting something?”“I don’t think so,” he replied.“The dessert,” she said, a bit of crimson creeping up onto her cheeks..Benjamin didn’t reply, but he put his hand back. There were chopped almonds in his palm.“I don’t want them,” she pushed his hand away. “You know what I want.”“I ‘honestly’ don’t know what you want,” Benjamin stopped cutting the dry fruits. “If I had, I wouldn’t be getting a bowl thrown at my face from my own mother-in-law.”Rebecca frowned and tightened the hug. “I apologize in my mother’s stead. Forgive her, please.”Benjamin didn’t say anything.“Please, Gogo,” she kept going at it.Gogo? B
Amber splashed water on Elizabeth’s face and woke her up. “I’m sorry, Madam. It’s not the intestines, but the arms that have fallen.”“Arms fell? You mean he lost his arms?” Elizabeth still looked shocked.“I don’t know. I couldn’t hear it clearly on the mobile,” Amber looked guilty.“You useless dog,” Elizabeth slapped Amber hard and rushed out of the kitchen. Amber controlled herself from crying because Rebecca and Benjamin were there. She, too, hastily exited the kitchen.“We should go to the hospital, too,” Rebecca told Benjamin. He nodded. Together, they came out of the kitchen and hurriedly left the building, holding each other’s hands.Ryan and Benyamin were watching all this from the first floor.“Look at them, Great Master,” Benyamin voiced his mind. “They have a real connection. Can’t you feel it? My lord wanted someone who loved him for who he was, not what he had. And I think he found her.”“I know you’re saying all this gibberish so you won’t have to do your job as Benyam
After reaching the Gospel Hospital, Rebecca scampered out of the car first. Benjamin and Shadow, however, still sat there, looking at each other through the small mirror.“Whose idea was it to establish a company?” Benjamin’s voice was so chilling the mirror cracked a little. “Yours or my Dad’s?”“What company? It’s all part of the test, my lord,” Shadow quickly replied, as fright bubbled up his stomach.“And you expect me to believe that?” Benjamin rolled his eyes. “I no longer trust you or my father for that matter.”“How can you say that, my lord?’ Shadow jumped to the front seat and held Benjamin’s hands. “I’m your dog. I wouldn’t leave your side even if you beat me close to death.”“Your words and actions contradict each other,” Benjamin pushed Shadow’s hands away. “The word of an unstable man is a bundle of water, Benyamin. You should choose one side instead of jumping back and forth… for your own peace. Even if you try and tempt Rebecca using all your means, I’m sure she won’t
Jane put the magazine aside and spared Rebecca a stern look, gently rubbing her abdomen in the process. “I’m pregnant, Rebecca. And… Benjamin is the dad.”Rebecca froze. Her bright little inner world she had recently built owing to Benjamin now felt like it was crumbling down. But then she blurted. “A-Are you saying it’s been more than three months since you two had… met? I don’t believe it.”“Whether you believe it or not, that’s the truth,” Jane’s expression stayed the same. She kept rubbing her abdomen in neat circles. “Benjamin is the father of the baby in my belly.”“Nonsense!” Rebecca grew so angry she spat some saliva out.“No. It makes perfect sense if you think about it,” Jane added. “Do you remember the time you first introduced Benjamin to me in a car? We actually met the very next day without you knowing, and then we… did that thing.”“Bullshit!” Rebecca barked. “I’ll bring Benjamin here right now and deal with you then!” she hastily left the room.Jane scratched her abdom
