“I have cancer?!” Elizabeth’s mother, Dorothy, almost passed out from hearing the news straight from the family doctor of the Sterling family who had come to check upon Rebecca’s health and then ended up checking Dorothy’s health because she said she was having constant headaches.

“It’s still in the middle stages, so it’s curable,” the doctor said. “You don’t have to worry. Just follow the treatment methods I suggest, and you’ll get completely healthy in a few months.” Saying that he wrote some medicine for her and then left.

Dorothy began crying, and her grandchildren, Lisa and Roshan comforted her.

“I wanted to grow old enough to see you two get married and have children,” Dorothy told them. “Now,I don’t think I’ll live that long anymore.” Her words made the children cry.

Just then, Lisa remembered something. “Grandma, a few months back, I wrote an essay on cancer. Uncle Benjamin helped me write the essay. Let me bring that to you.”
