On the late evening of the same Thursday, Jim was waiting for his dad while serving the customers. “He’s late today. He said he’ll be back in an hour, but he’s not here yet.”

Choi looked at the lobster on the plate and said, “Why should I pay for this food?”

Jim blinked twice. “Pardon?”

“I’m asking why I should pay?” Choi asked again. He came here to just observe Jim as per Uzza’s orders, but he was willing to go a step further and test him.

“Because I bought it and cooked for you?” Jim replied. Nobody ever asked him such a question, not even a kid, so Jim was still a bit taken by surprise.

“I don’t get it. Do you see monkeys paying humans? They just take the bananas from the vendors and leave,” Choi retorted. “The lions, the tigers, the alligators, they don’t pay for the food they eat. They just fucking snatch it with force.”
