Ulmer and Maara were sitting in the back of the taxi, and he recognized the driver. “Aren’t you the guy I met a few months back? Roger, right?”

“Yes, sir. I dropped you at Nelson’s home,” the driver, who was a young man in his early twenties replied. He was not stylish like Ulmer and looked very worn out right now, probably because he had been driving for many hours without resting. “I didn’t expect you to remember me. The 2000 dollars you gave me back then helped me a lot.”

“I’m glad the money helped,” Ulmer smiled and then looked at Maara. “He’s at least ten years younger than me, but guess what? He’s already married and has a kid. I was playing games in my room at his age, skipping college classes. What about you?”

Maara cast a cold glance at him but said nothing.

“If it’s personal, then you don’t have to tell us,” Ulmer laughed. “Anyway, Roger, how are you doing these days?”

“I’m doing fine, sir,” Roger replied, smiling, but Maara could see that he needed to rest.
