Ripples of Change

Aria's eyes fluttered open, the soft glow of the Nexus' healing chambers slowly coming into focus. She blinked, trying to orient herself, memories of her battle with the shadow-self flooding back in a rush of fragmented images and sensations.

"Easy," a familiar voice soothed. Nalia's face swam into view, etched with concern and relief. "You've been out for three days. How do you feel?"

Aria attempted to sit up, wincing at the protest of her muscles. "Like I've been hit by a cosmic freight train," she groaned. "But alive. Definitely alive."

Nalia helped her into a sitting position, her touch gentle but trembling slightly. "You had us worried, Aria. When you came through that portal..." She trailed off, shaking her head. "But you did it. You actually did it."

"The shadow realm?" Aria asked, her voice hoarse. "Is it...?"
