Pressure under Worlds
Jaden blinked, or thought he did. In this place beyond space and time, the simple act of perception was a complexity unto itself. Colors he couldn't name swirled around him, their hues shifting with each non-existent heartbeat. The silence was deafening, punctuated by sounds that might have been the birth and death of stars.

"Well," Zoe's voice cut through the cosmic noise, "this is new."

He turned – or the universe rotated around him, it was hard to tell – and saw her floating nearby. Flames danced across her skin, each one a window into a different reality. Behind her, Marcus drifted in a cloud of equations, numbers and symbols orbiting him like moons.

"You okay there, shadow boy?" Zoe asked, a hint of concern in her voice.

Jaden nodded, then realized the gesture was meaningless here. "Yeah," he said, his words resonating on frequencies he'd never known existed. "Just... adjusting."
