Unexpected gift

As Lucas and his thugs prepared to leave, thinking they had avenged themselves, Suddenly, Men dressed in black emerged from another corridor, blocking their exit.

Lucas, surprised, demanded, "Who the hell are you?"

One of the mysterious figures coldly replied, "Just consider us the consequence you didn't anticipate."

Before Lucas could react, the men swiftly overpowered him and his gang. Fists flew, and in a matter of moments, Lucas and his thugs found themselves beaten and tied up. The leader of the group stepped forward, observing the thug who laid sprawled on the floor groaning in pain.

Lucas, struggling to speak, managed to utter, "Who sent you?"

The leader smirked, "Let's just say it's someone who's had enough of your little games."

As Lucas and his gang groaned in pain, Sophia Benjamin stepped out from a hidden corner, with a determined look on her face. She had been silently observing the incident, and now she had decided to intervene.

With a composed tone, Sophia said, "I suggest you stay quiet if you know what's good for you. The police are on their way."

Lucas, realizing the gravity of the situation, glared at Henry and Emily, "You fools!"

Henry, still recovering from the earlier beating, retorted, "I didn't know this was going to happen. Who are these people?"

Sophia, now dialing the police, explained, "Consider it payback for the trouble you caused Henry and Emily."

As the police arrived, Sophia provided a detailed account of the events. Lucas and his thugs were arrested, their reign of intimidation finally put to an end.

As they were led away, the leader of the police turned to Sophia and said, "Thank you for your assistance. We've been tracking Lucas and his gang for a long time, and your bravery in standing up to them was crucial in putting an end to their actions."

Sophia nodded, feeling a sense of relief and satisfaction. She had taken a stand against injustice and had helped bring about the consequences that were long overdue for Lucas and his thugs.

Henry, grateful but puzzled, turned to Sophia, "Why did you help us?"

Sophia blushed slightly, "You saved my grandfather's life, Henry. Consider this my way of returning the favor. As for them, let's just say they have their reasons for intervening."

Henry, still processing her response, nodded appreciatively, "Thank you, Sophia. I didn't expect all this to happen."

Sophia smiled, "Life has its surprises. Just be careful; not everyone has a good heart as I am."

As the police took Lucas and his gang away, Emily, still shaken, whispered to Henry, "What just happened?"

Henry sighed, "It's complicated, Emily. But we're safe now, thanks to Sophia."

Sophia, with a warm smile, revealed, "My grandfather is awake, and he specifically asked to see you, Henry. He wants to express his gratitude for saving his life."

As they headed toward the ward, Emily couldn't hide her jealousy but managed to keep silent. Henry, unaware of Emily's internal anger, followed Sophia to meet Benjamin Baret.

Upon entering the room, Henry was greeted by the elderly man lying in the bed. Benjamin Baret, with a frail but sincere voice, expressed his thanks, "Henry, the doctors had given up on me, but you brought me back. I owe you my life."

Henry, humbled, replied, "I'm just glad I could help, Mr. Baret."

To show his appreciation, Benjamin Baret reached for a drawer and pulled out a cheque, handing it to Henry, "Consider this a token of gratitude. You've earned it."

Henry, astonished, looked at the cheque, "A hundred million dollars?! This is too much, Mr. Baret."

Benjamin chuckled, "Nonsense! It's the least I can do. You've proven to be quite exceptional. Oh, and I have something else for you."

Henry listened attentively as Benjamin continued, "I have wealthy friends who, like me, have faced health challenges. Your skills are remarkable, and I believe you can help them. Here's my contact, and in the coming days, I'll introduce you to some influential individuals who could benefit from your expertise."

Henry, grateful but slightly overwhelmed, accepted both the cheque and the promise. Emily, still grappling with her feelings, managed a forced smile.

As they left the hospital room, Sophia whispered to Henry, "You truly have a gift, Henry. My grandfather doesn't offer such rewards lightly. Make the most of this opportunity."

Henry nodded, realizing that his actions had set in motion a chain of unexpected events. The encounter with Lucas, the mysterious intervention, and now this unforeseen reward from Benjamin Baret opened new doors for him.

As they walked out of the hospital, Emily, trying to conceal her envy, asked, "What just happened in there?"

Henry, with a mix of excitement and disbelief, explained, "Mr. Baret is grateful for what I did. He gave me this substantial gift, and he's going to introduce me to his wealthy friends who might need my help."

Emily, masking her jealousy with a smile, said, "Well, that's great, Henry. Looks like things are getting better for you. Don't forget to look for a job through the process since you're useless. And again don't go around displaying your poor attitude of begging. I won't tolerate anymore disgrace from you."

"Don't worry. I won't be asking you for help if it turns out like the case," Henry replied, making Emily more angry as they left the hospital.

Little did they know that these events were only the beginning of a journey that would bring both challenges and opportunities into his life.
