Once In a Lifetime Opportunity

'Huh? What's going on? The only times the seal shows any reaction is when I cultivate, but it's almost undetectable. Now it's as if it's going nuts.' This was the first time the seal had shown such a reaction, so Luke's surprise was understandable.

Since he had managed to close his wounds, he decided to move closer to the direction from which the stream of World Energy was coming. He could afford to lose a few hours in order to find out what had triggered such response.

He was in a relatively deep area of Rotten Valley, so he walked very carefully. Concealing his presence as much as possible to avoid alerting the nearby Magical Beasts, as Second Rank and even Third Rank Magical Beasts were bound to be in the area.

Despite the risk this could represent, in his opinion, taking it was completely worth it. In these three years, the only thing he had discovered about the seals was that they were a creation from the time of the Great Amethyst Empire, so it was easy to see how important this was in Luke's eyes.

After walking for an hour, he finally arrived at the place where the World Energy was most concentrated.

In the place was a large lake, from which a large amount of World Energy was pouring out. There was certainly something strange going on, as even Luke with all his experience had never seen anything like this. Although he could deduce that the lake acted as a sort of World Energy pool, it should not be possible for it to have such quantities emerging.

'What the hell is going on? I better get out of this place; I have a feeling that something bad is going to happen.' Just as he thought this, he felt how the seal on his body began to absorb the surrounding World Energy frantically.

It was like a hungry child. Luke immediately sat cross-legged and began to meditate. This was surely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

He could feel the seal slowly weakening and his Core filling with World Energy. A couple of minutes in this place were equivalent to weeks' cultivation. He knew something very dangerous was triggering the reaction, but there was no gain without risk.

At one point, the stream of World Energy seemed to want to hide and return to the depths of the lake. When that happened, Luke felt a terrible pain course through his body.

Opening his eyes to see what the hell was going on; he saw a scene that left him speechless. The first seal had detached from his body and was now floating in front of his eyes as it expanded in size.

It appeared to be forcing the World Energy stream to the surface, acting as a sort of black hole. It was spinning so fast he could barely follow it, and the geometric shapes inside the seal were glowing bright enough to light up the night.

Luckily, he was in an area deep enough to avoid catching the attention of Ludwit City's cultivators or he would have been forced to escape. The most likely scenario was that there were no Magical Beasts in the vicinity since they perceived the World Energy current to be very dangerous. They usually had much better instincts than humans due to their nature.

Luke could feel his Core undergoing levels of stress it had never experienced before, to the point where it was on the verge of collapse, and how his body seemed to be tearing apart from the pain. However, there was no turning back.

The forces of the seal and the World Energy current seemed to be evenly matched, so Luke made a drastic decision to turn the tide.

'It's all or nothing. I don't care about anything anymore.' In his opinion, a true man should not run away from death, but embrace it to become stronger.

With that in mind, Luke forced his Core to spin even faster, thus enhancing the power of the seal in consequence. Who knew when such an opportunity would present itself again? He had a feeling that the first seal would eventually break if he managed to absorb this World Energy current, so he was willing to die for it.

With that in mind, Luke forced his Core to spin even faster, thus enhancing the power of the seal in consequence. Who knew when such an opportunity would present itself again? He had a feeling that the first seal would eventually break if he managed to absorb the World Energy, so he was willing to die in order to try.

He was tired of being a weakling who had to rest for a week after every fight.

The veins in his body were visible and his eyes were bloodshot. Because he forced his Core to spin so fast, cracks began to appear around it, and a large amount of blood was coming out of his mouth.

Despite all this, Luke didn't even utter a sound. He was fully focused on pushing his Core to the limit, his obsession with getting stronger was something only he understood.

Shriek! Shriek!

Finally, the seal was able to break the stalemate in which it found itself. The force it used to absorb the World Energy stream was so powerful that Luke could see space distort around him.

He knew the seals were impressive, but he never imagined they could be that impressive. The people responsible for their creation were geniuses.

At the same time, he couldn't help but wonder how powerful the other seals were. This was only the first one and it had managed to create fissures and distort the space around it.

The process took about ten minutes, until the seal finally managed to absorb the entire World Energy stream. The moment this happened, it returned to his body and Luke immediately fell to the ground while vomiting large amounts of blood.

"What do I do now?" He barely mustered up the strength to whisper these words. He had just made a superhuman effort and it had taken its toll on his body. Not only did his Core have multiple cracks, but his internal organs were shredded. His gaze was clouded, and he felt himself quickly approaching death.

Just as he said those words, he felt a warm sensation spread through his body from near his groin. Apparently, the seal was healing his wounds and the damage to his Core.

"Hehe, looks like my luck isn't so bad. These damn seals finally do something for me..." Luke couldn't help but say these words with irony. These injuries were something that he hadn't suffered even in the Forsaken Mountain battle against The Circle.

Supporting himself with his hands to get up from the ground, Luke immediately examined the seals on his body. Eight of them were exactly the same as before, but the smallest one was undergoing major changes.

That seal was slowly beginning to fade, and Luke felt his Core getting closer to consolidating at the First Rank as this happened. Given the speed at which this was happening, Luke reckoned that it would be completely gone in about three days.

Knowing that nothing unusual would happen to him for the time being, he turned his gaze to the lake. It had returned to a normal state and there were only minor fluctuations of World Energy on its surface.

Taking advantage of the fact that the Magical Beasts wouldn't dare approach the place for a few hours, Luke decided it was best to investigate the lake.

Whatever was in its depths was responsible for finally being able to weaken the seal. He needed to know what was there to satisfy his curiosity.
