Henry’s voice shook the surroundings. Everyone stared at him in disbelief.

They couldn’t believe he would be this foolish.

Mr. Dawson clapped slowly, a smile spreading across his face.

“So be it. As the eldest son of the Tucker family, your words carry the same weight as your father’s. The duel will take place in the Dawson training hall. It is scheduled for five days from now. Is that agreeable?”

Henry nodded. He knew Mr. Dawson was after their land. There was nothing they could do. Instead of handing it over easily, he would fight for it.

Henry helped his father to his feet.

“Dad, it’s okay.”

Mr. Tucker inhaled deeply. He wasn’t as clueless as he appeared. He knew exactly what Mr. Dawson wanted. That land was meant for Lora’s treatment.

They had failed her.

“You’re awake,” Mr. Tucker said.

“Yes.”

Derek stepped closer, a mocking grin on his face.

“You better start training, moron. I can’t wait to crush you.”

Henry ignored him. He helped Lora up and gently placed her back into her wheelchair.

She hadn’t said a word since.

And it hurt him deeply.

They left immediately.

Mr. Dawson watched Henry closely. There was something different about him.

Before, he had felt like an ordinary human. Now, there was a faint aura of a mage around him.

He had also seen Derek’s earlier attack.

How did it have no effect?

His gaze shifted to Derek.

The boy had been careless lately.

Perhaps it was time to give him some magical tools to boost his strength.

He must make sure that boy dies in the duel.

Henry pushed Lora home while his father walked ahead of them in silence.

Mr. Tucker hadn’t spoken a word since they left the mansion.

Henry quickened his pace to catch up.

“Dad, trust me. I know what that land means. I won’t let Derek win. I will win.”

Mr. Tucker forced a smile.

“I know you can. You just have to train harder than him.”

“I will do my best. I promise I won’t let this family down.”

Mr. Tucker placed a hand on Henry’s shoulder.

“I trust you.”

Even if Henry were the same rank as Derek, he still wouldn’t stand a chance.

The Dawson family was incredibly wealthy. They could afford magical items to boost their son’s growth, and even magical jewelry that enhanced stamina, reflexes, and strength.

Henry had none of that.

Still, Mr. Tucker didn’t blame him.

There had been no way to protect the land anyway.

But he didn’t want to see his son humiliated.

Mr. Tucker stopped walking. His voice was calm, almost emotionless.

“Henry… I am proud of you.”

He turned to face him.

“You are a good son.”

He walked away after saying that.

Despite awakening the weakest rank ever recorded, Henry had never let people’s words break him. He always fought for what he wanted.

Mr. Tucker wished he had shown that same courage earlier.

But it wasn’t too late.

He would make sure Henry got into the academy.

And somehow, he would still find a way to pay for Lora’s treatment.

Henry stood there, watching his father leave.

Those words touched him deeply.

He held back his tears and made a silent vow.

He would not lose.

“It's okay, brother. I don’t mind being like this forever. I’m used to it.”

Henry shook his head immediately.

“You won’t be like this forever. Don’t ever say that again. As soon as I become a mage, I’ll take you to the best mage healer in Blue Terrain.”

Lora let out a small laugh.

“Hahaha… in the whole country?”

“Yes. So don’t worry.”

“Okay, brother. I’ll wait.”

Henry took her home.

The moment he was done, he went straight to the backyard.

He had no time to waste.

He needed to train.

He couldn’t level up his class without killing monsters or using magical items, and he had neither.

So he focused on what he could improve.

His skills.

If he trained nonstop for five days, he might be able to strengthen his abilities enough to stand a chance.

Right now, he only had one skill.

Until he reached level two, he couldn’t unlock more.

Henry inhaled deeply.

“Fire magic: Cube.”

A small cube of fire formed in his palm.

He tossed it into the air.

“Explosion!”

The cube detonated, forming a small burst of flames.

Henry felt the strain in his body, but his lips curled slightly.

There was improvement.

Before, the explosion barely formed a shape.

Now, it was more defined.

It wasn’t much, but it was progress.

If Derek used the same skill, the impact would be far greater.

But Henry didn’t care.

He faced the wooden training dummy.

“Explosion!”

The fire cube shot forward and struck the dummy.

It burst on impact, but the flames died almost instantly.

There was no real damage. Just a faint scorch mark.

Henry lowered his gaze in disappointment.

He needed to do better.

He kept training.

Hours passed.

Then the night.

Then morning.

Henry rested briefly to eat before continuing.

He wouldn’t stop.

Four days of training.

One day to prepare.

That was his plan.

He was still practicing when Jeremy came running toward him.

“Henry…”

Jeremy couldn’t finish his sentence. His body trembled with fear.

“What is it?”

Henry’s chest tightened.

“The gold mine… a monster appeared at the gold mine. Your father is rumored to be there.”

Henry’s heart skipped.

He ran immediately.

His heart pounded wildly as he rushed toward the direction of the protective wall.

He couldn’t believe it.

His father had gone outside the wall.

The gold mine was said to be a short distance beyond it.

A few days ago, bounty hunters had gone outside to hunt monsters. Monster crystals were valuable and used to create magical items and jewelry, so companies paid heavily for them.

Those hunters were high-class mages.

The only ones allowed beyond the wall.

They had discovered a gold mine and reported it.

The military was supposed to secure the area soon.

Henry’s chest tightened.

His father must have used the secret passage.

He wanted to save the family.

Even if it meant risking his life.

Henry reached the hidden section of the wall and entered the secret code.

Only high-ranking officials knew it, but his father had once overheard it.

Henry had always mocked the idea of anyone foolish enough to go outside the wall.

Yet here he was.

His eyes filled with tears.

A section of the wall opened, forming a hidden door.

Henry slipped through before anyone could see him.

There should have been guards.

But there were none.

He rushed through the tunnel and emerged on the other side.

The moment he stepped out, the air hit him differently.

His clothes fluttered.

His heart tightened.

This was his first time outside the protective wall.

Anything could happen.

The biggest problem was this.

He didn’t even know where the gold mine was.

Henry took a step forward.

A screen suddenly appeared in front of him.

She subconsciously stepped backwards in fear, and an evil smile crept onto Diego's face.He said as he slowly approached Lora.“There is no need to step backwards, little lamb. There is nowhere you can run to that I can't run to as well. I know you are afraid of dying, but that was your fate the moment you were born as a human being. If you were born as monster, that would've been different. You would've been strong and immune to death.Your friend over there fought a good fight, but he still ended up dying.”Diego stopped approaching and continued.“Monsters do die, so you don't think am not being obvious of the hundreds of monsters that have died on this very ground, but just as hundreds of monsters have died on this floor, over a million humans have died on this ground as well.So you can see that the numbers are not worth an argument. The monsters that fell into the hands of humans are simply the ones that couldn't work

She snapped her fingers towards Helen.“You tried to attain something you are not, but are still just a human being. This is where it ends human creation!”The dark blades instantly covered Helen at that moment. To her Helen had developed into something else.Something that scattered all her ideology and calculation about humans to the ground.“There is no way I am giving up in this lifetime!”Helen coughed out a mouthful of blood as she took a different stance from the one she took when she stood up.“Water control: a million slashes!”Immediately Helen triggered the skill, the whole surroundings started experiencing a shock wave, that even Ava subconsciously stepped backwards out of fear. I refuse to accept this ending’ ‘My life can't end this way!’ Helen tried to stand up to her feet once more, but she fell to the ground again. She had been beaten to a pulp by the monster, Ava, who was standing right in front of her. ‘Shit!’ Helen cursed as her body let her down once more. She fell flat on the ground when she tried to stand up again. Her hands couldn't support her motion anymore, and her legs were vibrating inside.
