Chapter 31: A gem in hiding

Caramel laughed. "Of course, I did. I wanted to see what you were doing and I saw you fighting those men. Why didn't you tell Avery the truth?"

" It wouldn't change anything," he insisted.

" No," Caramel shook her head. " It would have changed a lot. Maybe her parents won't stop seeing you as completely useless."

Grey regarded her for a moment. Caramel was too inquisitive and knows more than what she was supposed to know. If someone like Caramel could recognize Max, then it would be dangerous for her to know the real Grey.

"I am completely useless. I don't really fit for Avery and we are only together because of some circumstances," he argued. " Though, I'm trying my best to be good for her."
