002

“If you don't want my money, then what do you want?” Ella asked as she proceeded to sit at the edge of the bed.

“I really don't want your money, but I could receive something else instead.” Ray moved from his spot as he went towards Ella, pinning her down on the bed.

She was too slow to react, as Ray was now on top of her. It was so sudden and unexpected that she hadn't attempt to struggle at all. While in this position though, she could feel her heart beating at a very fast rate.

For a minute, the two exchanged glances, until suddenly, Ray stood from his position and then clicked his tongue.

“Nah, I'll be cheating on my fiancé if I was to do this. Yesterday’s incident wasn't intentional. So I'll let it slide.”

Ella was flustered by this domineering act. She let out a few disgruntled sounds before sitting up to recompose herself.

“What was that for? Are you planning to blackmail me after this? Remember I offered you money, but you refused!” She said, challenging Ray.

“What would I gain from blackmailing you when I'll be marrying one of the prettiest lady in the country. I'm sure Grace Munroe would be so happy to meet me again. I'm curious to know how she would've looked by now.”

“Grace Munroe? The same grace Munroe of the Munroe family?”

“Yes.”

“Ah!” Ella let out a single laugh. “Why would such a person be married to someone like you. If I remembered correctly, her family is pretty influential, they wouldn't just let anybody be their son-in-law.”

Ella was from the Queen family, the wealthiest family in the country of Sydney. And the Munroe family was just beneath them, about 800 million net-worths below them.

Yet she knew their family due to them being the least on the top 20 wealthiest family list in the country. In fact, she knew every single family on the top 20 list.

“I'm not just anybody. I don't care if you believe me or not. Our business here is done, so I'll leave you be as I have some other matters to attend to.”

Ray had had enough of Ella. He doesn't wish to continue talking with someone who keeps on belittling him. Yet, he doesn't want to reveal his real identity. At least, not until he weds his bride.

Almost instantly, he grabbed his clothes, put them on and started approaching the door to leave. But before he did, Ella had yelled out some words to him.

“I hope we do not meet again!”

Scoffing, Ray had left the room.

As he walked down the corridor of the hotel building, a man in a black attire had walked past him. But due to Ray's experience in the military, he knew when someone seems suspicious.

Instead of leaving, he had decided to follow this man and see which room he was heading to.

Turns out he was heading to the room that Ray had just exited. And that was the room he had slept in with Ella.

‘Could they be a bad person? Or did Ella requested to meet them?” Ray wondered.

Because of the face mask that was used, he couldn't see the face of the individual.

Just as he was thinking of this, he could see the person bringing out a knife from his pocket as he went into the room.

Almost instantly, Ray had sped towards the room, stopping the individual before he could lock the door.

As he bashed against the door, Ray had grabbed the attacker by the collar, sending two heavy punches on his face.

The sudden noise had caused Ella to scream as she was currently putting on her dress. She had to grab the blanket again to cover herself up.

Luckily, the attacker hadn't seen anything and with the two initial hits from Ray, their sense of sight had become blurred. Ray had hit them so hard on the face that they could feel their eyeballs soaking with blood.

As he removed the mask from their face, he noticed that the person was a Male. But none that Ray or Ella recognised.

Moments later, the cops had arrived as they took the attacker to the police station. Ray had left the rightful statement of how he had saw the attacker, and had followed after him because he looks suspicious.

They thanked him for his bravery act and had left soon after. Although, they were a few cops that had stayed to guard Ella till she reaches home safely.

Meanwhile, Ella who had been contemplating in her mind for a while, had decided to approach Ray.

“Thank you.” She said, her cheeks turning a shade red. She didn’t imagine she would be saying this to a sore loser like Ray.

She thought he was just a ruffian filled with boasting tongues and lies alone. But after he saved her life, her view towards him changed somehow. And she felt indebted to him.

“I only did what was right.” Ray said, not even looking at her side. He was waiting for his subordinate to arrive with his car, or he would have long gone by now.

After being talked down by Ella, he didn’t want to associate with her any longer.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean what I said to you in the room.”

Hearing Ella apologised had caused Ray to take a quick glance at her before turning his gaze back to the road again.

“I’ll compensate you for the troubles I put you in. And also for saving my life.” Ella stated.

“And how are you going to compensate me?” He asked, still maintaining his gaze with his hands crossed on each other.

“I could give you money…” Ella drifted off as she noticed a big black rover pulling up in front of them.

Soon after, a lady had come out of the car, bowing politely to Ray.

“I’m sorry I’m late General.” She said.

“General?” Ella mumbled slightly to herself.

Ray had walked towards the car, and as he went in, he turned to look at Ella. “You don’t have to compensate me. Just think of it as a kind gesture from me. Now if I must, I have a wedding to attend.”

After saying this, he had went inside the car, and almost instantly the car had driven off, leaving Ella staring at the distance with multiple thoughts running across her mind.

“Could everything he’s been saying all day be the truth? Could it be that he’s actually rich?” Ella pondered. “But why did that lady called him general?”

At that moment, Ella had brought out her phone as she started searching online for a specific name.

“General Ray…” she uttered as she inputted the letters into the search button and the results was revealed to her.

When the two met, he had told her only his first name. And Ella in return hadn’t mentioned her surname either.

To her surprise, as the result came out, it had shown the exact picture of Ray in a military uniform. Out of disbelief, she had dropped her handbag on the floor. “He… he’s… General Ray Gibson, the war god!”
