We continued on our way towards the capital.

Lily was bandaging up Muichiro's eye.

"I can't believe I let a mere bandit beat me up like this, I'm meant to be a Royal Guard!"

"Don't worry about it too much, without you, we'd probably all be goners." I tried to lighten the situation.

The carriage stumbled on, slowly taking us to our destination.

After finishing up with first aid on Muichiro, Lily came back over and sat next to me.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'm mostly fine."

I didn't really sustain any injuries aside from the soreness from my sword. The blowdarts stung when they hit me but after removing them, it wasn't too bad.

"That's a relief." She flashed me a subtle smile.

The carriage was silent for a little while.

"Thank you for protecting me before."

"Don't worry about it."

Still, I was too weak. I was supposed to protect this princess and yet I was barely able to defeat two bandits. Even Muichiro was fighting seven on his own.
