Countless aches spread through Yunzheng's whole body whilst his eyes fluttered in discomfort. When he gasped, the body jerked around, causing his limbs to strike something hard.
Darkness engulfed his entire sight and made him reach out his hands to feel the rough texture. The stench of old wood, its coarse surface, and the square shaped outline were familiar, lingering at the tip of his tongue.
A notion flashed in his mind, prompting him to trace his own face, breath, and his chest, feeling the thumping within. Gripping his fist, the familiar surge of power flowed freely, albeit much thinner than before. Brows raised, he gulped and closed his eyes, recalling the scene of his last moment, which still gave a faint throb despite no injuries.
"I am… Alive." he muttered, almost inaudibly with a resigned tone. Zhou Ye's face, along with more than dozens of elders and disciples appeared amidst the darkness. A heavy lump dropped on his guts, making him breathe slowly and snapped his attention back to his circumstances.
Gathering his power, he observed the enclosed space more closely once more and reminded him of a coffin. With his breath guided, although he was far from his best, Yunzheng let the surge of energy travel into his palm, feeling the raging tremor in its wake.
In an instant, the wood burst forth while accompanied by the thunderous bang. His surroundings shook and through the flying dirts and wood fragments, blinding light flooded. Overwhelming his senses for a while.
After he blinked his eyes a few times, he rose from his lying position and coughed. Gust of cool wind brushed his cheek and he sighted a man wearing grayish clothes. Upon closer inspection, the fabric of his garment was as smooth as the one worn by some royal family or at least elders of powerful sects.
The man's eyes widened with jaw hanging big enough to fit an egg. Stepping backwards, the man moved his trembling finger to point at Yunzheng, which prompted the latter to rouse his energy for the worse.
"G-G-Ghost!"
Gazing at the fading back of the man who turned to run, Yunzheng sighed and stood straight. As he patted away the dust around, his eyes wandered and saw the rows of graves, the trees around them, and some people who looked and pointed at him from a distance.
'This place…'
His heart speeding up, Yunzheng rushed forward and became more amazed at the white attire people wore, the lack of energy in the air, or some buildings with structures he wouldn't ever found in the cultivation world. When his feet slowed down, his expression couldn't be more puzzled, still a smile slithered into his face despite all.
"I'm back…" he muttered, in an almost disbelieving tone, surprising himself. He looked to his right and spotted a group of men with similar uniforms approaching him. Some revealed confusion, fear, and annoyance in their gaze, which Yunzheng easily picked up.
He checked himself and found that he was wearing black pants and white shirt. Recalling how bothersome it would be to deal with that group, Yunzheng took a step and crossed several meters in the air. The consumption caused him to frown but he kept going until the scenery changed and he disappeared from their eyes.
Circulating his energy to surround him, his breathing moved in a certain pattern. In the next second, his appearance blurred and blended into the background, becoming more transparent as time passed.
The towering skyscrapers, busy roads, and the myriad of noises from the walking pedestrians drowned his senses. Landing on top of a three story building, he saw the floating holographic banners with musical instruments flowing out of them. In a faraway spot, his eyes noticed the flying humanoid shadows.
A foreboding feeling bubbled inside the more he observed. The technology had advanced, considering there were even some robots helping the traffic, on the streets, and even there's even flying boards. It gave him a touch of despair when he thought of a question.
How much time had passed since he teleported to another world?
[System has been initiated… Please wait for a moment.]
A blue, half transparent box materialized from thin air before him, making him step back in both wariness and surprise. When he tried to poke it, his hand easily passed through as if there was nothing. Yet, his gaze clearly fixated upon the text's heads-up display.
'Did my eyes play tricks on me?'
A bright azure light shone from the display and engulfed his vision. A moment later, his surroundings changed into countless stars amidst the space before the scenery blurred as if he moved at light years speed. Despite that, he could feel his feet firmly standing at a solid foothold while there was no change to the flow of energy around.
After making a stance in his amazement, he felt an enormous aura descended upon him. A being which would definitely stand at the peak of all life as fear much more greater than he ever felt blossomed within.
He lifted his chin, traced the source of the unbelievable bearings and found a gigantic mass of twinkling stars spread at the being's void-like skin. Pair of blazing flames stared back at Yunzheng's, making him gasp and sent shivers to his spine.
A thought crossed his mind, that not even dozens of thousands of him could match the being's toes.
Blaring sounds resembling a chuckle drowned his entire hearing senses. With his mind turned upside-down from that overwhelming noise alone, Yunzheng held his head and tried to steady his feet as they were slowly losing strength and threatened him to fall anytime soon.
In a blink of an eye later, he saw himself still on the previous spot at the rooftop of some random building. Yet, the cold sweat and his panting breaths told him what he had experienced was more than just some illusion or daydream. As he tried to calm himself, something running inside of his head and a transparent blue box appeared once more.
[The system has been fully transferred! Welcome to the Servant System, host!]
His gaze focused back on the display, Yunzheng narrowed his eyes and mumbled out loud, "Servant System?"Before long, Yunzheng realized that there was something that connected itself deep within his cultivated soul. It was a strange feeling, as if an invisible cord was tied into his heart, glabella, and dantian, the three spots where one's soul resided. Before he could probe the sensation further, a booming siren appeared and from the intersection, a black sedan was speeding to the opposite lane. However, instead of crashing at the incoming vehicles, the sedan easily went through them like some kind of hologram. The police cars chasing after them could only move to the right track while they tracked the car from afar. Later on, they went to other intersections and disappeared from sight. Meanwhile Yunzheng was rooted on the spot after he watched the event. He turned his gaze to the passerby below, using some of his little bit of energy left to exchange his vision. The expressions of
"That would be 2000 credits."Nodding his head, Yunzheng walked to the strapped device at the entrance of the bus and placed his Exwatch a few centimeters between them. A second later, soft buzzing noise emerged and blue lights scattered to scan the watch for a while until they disappeared completely. When he got off the bus, Yunzheng activated the watch on his right wrist right away and saw the hologram display, which told him that his balance had reduced by 2000 points. Fiddling with the little gadget a little more, Yunzheng thought that the item was indeed much more convenient to carry, replacing the smartphone industry and not to mention, the so called air touch was kind of cool. Because of his long age, he was rarely surprised since he knew most things in the cultivation world. This, however, brought quite a novel feeling to it. He gained his Exwatch and the credits thanks to the young college student before. Nothing a simple hypnotizing technique couldn't fix. Still, there wa
Dumbfounded. That was the reaction of all the people before him until the thugs realized that they were threatened by a superhuman. At first, they exchanged glances at one another before one at the far right with bushy beard and the goofiest tattoo of an octopus on his arm stepped forward and explained themselves. "Are you a Guardian? We belong to the Golden Coalition. We already have permits and this man signed our terms willingly."Yunzheng stared at the middle aged man who was only cowering and hung his head low, avoiding Yunzheng's gaze. Seeing that, some of the thugs sneered and the first bearded man smiled and tried to say something. But in the blink of an eye, Yunzheng already arrived at his side and grabbed the man's neck. Caught off-guard, the man let out a strange yelp as he was lifted, choked at the iron grip while his muscles shrunk and his strength leaving him in breakneck speed. His friends who watched that, quickly rushed to Yunzheng, drawing out knives simultaneously
Lunging down, Yunzheng gathered part of the energy into his hands as he recalled a fist technique. Yet, in midair, he saw one of the liquid-like limbs fly in his direction even though he should be at the man's blind spot. With his instinct screaming at him, Yunzheng sent the punch right at the tip of the limb and felt as if he was hitting a plate of steel. Using the little rebound of their confrontation, he flipped his body and gained more distance from his target. Still, the latter appeared to have expected the scenario and won't let him go so easily. Two more semi transparent tentacles went their ways to stab him. In the short period of time and a brief glance, Yunzheng tried to twist his body and dodge, but they still grazed the right side of his waist and left shoulder. Bleeding, he rushed to his opponent with the fastest speed he could muster. The world turned into a crawl and he noticed the scowl of the super, who was at least six feet tall, wearing white shirt with black jac
Scorching. That was the feeling he felt on every inch of his flesh and bones. Yet, contrary to everything, his blood felt ice cold, freezing water in the chilliest winter which rolled through the head to the toe.The two opposite extremes slowly forging him, breaking and molding him before they cooled and healed everything. A full display of both torture and europhia that the sickest masochist would enjoy. After some period, he felt itches spreading under his skin and the foulest stench flooding his nostrils. For the uneducated, foolish amateurs, they would reeled in reflex or ignorance, bringing more harm than good in a span of breaths. He held in those urges to scratch or even to move at all, of course. Staying still like he was nothing more than a stone and a stone he was. At last, the contrast sensation, together with the itches and all had subsided to the point it was barely noticeable. Opening his closed-tight eyes, he rose and walked to a corner. Retched the blackish substanc
The same tranquil atmosphere and night, a scene Wei Long had gotten used to after a few years of night shift. His partner, Cai Mo, was across from him, reorganizing the cards on the table as he yawned. The dozens of monitors on their side were ignored, functioning on their lonesome for in the history of this building, almost no one would dare to make a mess or trespass illegally. There were hardly any valuable properties for those who wanted to barge in. Not to mention, this was the nest of ready-battle veterans with an armory full of weapons to boot. Not to mention the supers stationed in this place, watching like hawks and crouching in the dark like a hunting cheetah. A suicidal mission, that what it was. Although this place indeed held all of the important documents that might even be priceless if you knew their value, raiding this place was nonsensical.Something Wei Long would have to rethink for the very first time, a loud noise blaring out. Surprising the hell out of him and
When he woke up from the deep slumber, he shielded his eyes as bright light blinded his vision until he blinked a few more times. Adjusting his senses to the surroundings, he found himself laid on a cold floor and an almost empty room with only a single bucket could be spotted on one of the edges. One side of the walls was clear glass, where he sighted a man in uniform who sat on a chair while he fiddled with his exwatch. Oblivious to Yunzheng's state for his attention wholly focused on another thing and beside him, a table with a few sorts of things such as a plate of piled chips, cards, a glass that held what seemed to be half filled coffee, and a paper. Yunzheng rubbed his glabella and let out a soft groan when the circumstances finally sunken into his mind. He got captured, that much was obvious but what vexed him would be how he couldn't even guard against whatever skill that man with a mask thrown at him. Just in time, something rang within his head and a translucent blue scre
A bizarre sight even for Yunzheng as he saw the moving smoke coming from Gilbert and entered through the orifices of a full grown man. As if he couldn't breathe, the man held his neck, choking and his eyes bulged out until at last, he slumped to the ground. Eyes rolled backwards while Gilbert landed with a hop. [A Side Task has Appeared!] [Side Task : Escape the building with Gilbert's help in less than an hour! Rewards : Gilbert's level +5Failure : Suspend Gilbert for a few weeks.]Skimming through the notification, another shout ensued. This time, it sounded familiar and when Yunzheng glanced at the direction of the voice, there was a struggle between a full grown man and a cat which he couldn't touch. "You cannot be so rough to the soon-to-be noble, nya!"With its feet materialized out of the drifting smoke, Gilbert clawed the man's mask and knocked it away. The scarred feature had been displayed for the world to see and the man tried to cover his face with his hand. Still, th
