Betrayed Again

"Are you sure this is the right way?" Adrian whispered, his eyes scanning the dark corridor ahead.

A deep, reverberating hum echoed through the hidden chambers of the temple. Shadows danced across the ancient stone walls as flickering torches cast an eerie glow. Adrian and Emma moved silently, their footsteps barely a whisper against the cold, dusty floor.

Adrian nodded, his jaw clenched with determination. "Victor's lair must be nearby. We can't afford to miss any clues."

Just as they turned a corner, a sudden noise behind them made Adrian spin around. He pulled Emma close, shielding her with his body. "Who's there?" he demanded, his voice a low growl.

A figure emerged from the shadows, a smug grin plastered on his face. It was Donovan, the spy they had reluctantly brought along for his supposed expertise. Adrian's heart sank as he saw the malicious gleam in Donovan's eyes.
