Chapter 8

Roy's eyes trembled at the words that came out of Gary's mouth. "What are you saying, Mr. Gary? Why do I have to pack my things?"

Roy tried to smile hesitantly. He tried to reject the words that just came out of his boss. He had been working at this place for more than 10 years. There was no way Roy would be fired that easily, right?

Shawn also felt that the company leader's words were very bold. He didn't know what Mr Gary was thinking at the moment, but this situation was very favourable for Shawn. Without realising it, Shawn grinned slightly, sensing that something good was about to happen.

Mr. Gary himself lifted his chin slightly and looked down on Roy. With an expensive suit and hairstyle like that, Mr Gary's aura of power felt very strong all over the man's body.

He repeated his words, "Mr. Roy, you lack competence and do things that are inappropriate in the workplace. I am firing you. I want your face off, Gold K for good!"

Roy could not blink. His eyes widened, and his breathing became ragged from the stinging sentence.

He shook his head in disbelief. "I must be mistaken. You must be joking, right?"

Mr. Gary furrowed his brows, and a few veins in his neck popped. "Does my face look like I'm joking? Let him go!" ordered Mr. Gary to the two security guards who had been holding Shawn.

They gulped, but just as they were about to let go of Shawn's hand, the bald one, Roy, interrupted them with a shout.

"No! Don't let go!"

Roy then walked up to Mr. Gary. He held Mr. Gary's hand and bowed deeply. "I'm sorry, sir. Forgive me if I made a mistake. However, I don't understand what's wrong with my actions. I'm just giving this lazy employee a little lesson not to influence Gold K so that other employees don't follow in his footsteps. Please do not fall for this employee's misleading words."

Roy's words sounded very smooth, smoother than a saleswoman in a boutique, as if Roy had done nothing wrong. However, Shawn knew what the bald man was trying to do. He was trying to shift all the blame onto Shawn again.

Shawn clucked his mouth, unable to believe what he had just heard from this bowling ball-headed human. "Seriously, do I have to show you more evidence to fill your empty shell?"

The snide question made Roy's ears perk up slightly. He glanced sarcastically at Shawn. "Shell?"

Roughly, Mr. Gary swatted Roy's hand away, leaving the bald man stunned. Mr. Gary even took out a handkerchief and wiped his hands. "You have two major faults, Mr. Roy. First, you made up a story and carried out a conspiracy to make Shawn an employee who works like a robot for a small wage. Secondly, you don't know who the person you used as a robot is."

Roy and the two security guards who were holding Shawn were wide-eyed at Shawn. They had no idea what Mr. Gary had just said.

Shawn opened his eyes wide because he just got the answer to Mr. Gary's words. A notification from the system appeared shortly after Mr. Gary said that.

[Ding!]

[Congratulations! You have successfully executed the mission perfectly!]

[The reward of the Manager position at Gold K has been successfully obtained!]

A faint grin appeared on Shawn's mouth even though he tried to hold it in. Shawn was happy with the notification.

Mr Gary added, "Shawn is the manager of this company. How dare you do such insolent things to him? Get out of this company right now!"

Roy's heart rate immediately increased rapidly upon hearing that. His hands were shaking. Meanwhile, the two security guards immediately removed their hands from Shawn for fear of being scolded by Mr. Gary.

Roy immediately knelt and prostrated himself at Mr. Gary's feet. "F-forgive me! I didn't mean to do anything wrong. Please don't fire me. I still have a wife and two children. The job at Gold K is the only income I have. Please be merciful and give me one more chance!"

Mr. Gary ignored him. Instead, she turned to Shawn and approached him. She stuck out her hand to shake Shawn's hand. Shawn responded to the handshake and grasped it firmly. It was a grip for someone ready to face all the challenges ahead.

Mr. Gary liked Shawn's gesture. He smiled slightly. "Congratulations, you are the manager at Gold Know."

Shawn already knew it, but hearing it directly from Mr. Gary gave him a different sensation. Shawn couldn't even help but smile now. The smile broke out with a slight nod from him. "Thank you, Mr. Gary."

Shawn then glanced at Roy. That sideways glance down and with that smile felt like a big tease to Roy.

Suddenly, Roy spoke loudly while pointing at Shawn, "Mr. Gary, you don't know who he is. He's just a poor, lowly man! Everything about him is rubbish. He is not fit for a position in this company. You will regret it, sir!"

Mr. Gary felt an itch in his ear. Roy's protest in that shrill voice was like the sound of an insect getting inside the ear and causing sleeplessness. "You two, drag this guy out! He's making my head hurt!"

The harsh words made Roy flabbergasted. The two security guards immediately did their job out of fear, and the Chairman's orders were absolute. They grabbed both of Roy's arms and dragged the fat body out. Roy fought back, but he was outmatched by the strength of the two security guards.

Roy's eyes looked sharply at Shawn. The last thing he saw from Shawn was a grin with his eyes widening. "I'll get back at you someday!" he screamed, pointing at Shawn before the door to the room was closed.

Mr. Gary stared at the door with his back against the wall. "If I keep a corrupt person like him around, Gold K will eventually fall apart. A tenacious person like you is the one I should keep. Do a good job!"

Mr. Gary smiled and patted Shawn twice on the shoulder. Then he left the room.

Shawn couldn't believe what had just happened. He felt a very different sensation on this mission. There was a sense of satisfaction that coursed through his blood, especially when the person who was mean to him got what he deserved.

At that moment, Shawn felt a vibration in his pocket. Someone was calling. Shawn picked up his cell phone and found out it was Rachel. Without thinking, Shawn accepted the call. "Hello, Rachel."

"Prepare yourself. You're going to live with my family. I'll send you the address via message. Come and meet them. Remember, you have to be nice to them!"

Of course, Rachel was not one to mince words. Shawn replied with a firm, "Okay."
