Shawn's father had some sort of blind faith in his son after Shawn has explained his plan clearly to him and told him all he needed to know about the VC. One of the hardest things there was to accomplish was to remove someone like the VC from that position notwithstanding the connection, with no valid reason.

After the conversation Shawn had with his father, he had gone out of the car quickly to go look for his friends. After everything he told his father, Shawn's father was clear that Mike had nothing to do with anything that happened and was just trying to help out. . . And so for that, Shawn was allowed to go and see Mike.

Shawn had picked up a hoodie he found at the back of the car when he got in. He wore it and stepped out. He needed to avoid the spotlights of cameras and people making videos. He needed to stay clear of the eyes of the people around him.
