Sign the Divorce

Chapter Six

Diana was shocked to see all the men fall to the ground. What is happening? She wondered, instantly alarmed. It looked like they were conversing, unable to hear what was being said she trailed forward.

"My apologies sir I didn't know you were the one." Said Silas, the head thug on his knees. That stupid woman, how could she ask me to go after Jose Pelen, does she want me dead? He thought to himself, Jose was their God father and benefactor, the entire scorpion gang was ready to lay their life out for him.

"To what do I owe this sudden visit?" Jose asked, he had a lot of enemies. It was no surprise that a pack of thugs were sent after him, except this enemy must be an idiot. How could they not know that the whole country was under his command? 

"I'm the one who sent them." Diana said, strolling towards them confidently, she knew the richest man in town but Diana was also aware that he had no connection with Matthew so she was not scared.

Coming to a stop ahead of them, "I'm here to retrieve my lost item, you are holding my son-in-law captive and I demand that you return him right this instant." Jose was surprised to hear that his son was married however Diana was not done speaking.

"I don't know why a man of honour like you is standing with a low life like this idiot but trust me sir you do not want to believe a word that comes out of his mouth this man is a liar, an abusive boss and husband. In fact, he is currently wanted by the police after signing the divorce papers. I will drive him to the station myself, it will be in your best interest to distance yourself from such a person as you do not want your reputation to be damaged by him." Diana was sure that with her speech Jose would want nothing to do with Matthew again however the man was enraged at the way she spoke of his son.

"Are you truly his mother-in-law?" He asked in disbelief.

"It was a mistake that my daughter got married to this freak, he's a wolf in sheep's clothing, had I known that he was this way I would have never given my permission. I have tried everything I can to get him to sign the divorce papers but this idiot still refuses to leave me and my daughter alone. He continues to hold on to us and barge into our lives. At some point he even became a stalker, we are tired." She cried in an obviously fake tone.

Matthew was shocked to hear all the allegations levelled against him, he didn't know what his father would think of it and wanted to defend himself when Jose spoke. "So you mean this young man is the one holding onto the marriage and as long as he signs the divorce agreement you will leave him alone is that correct?"

Diana quickly nodded. "Yes, I have the papers here with me, as soon as he signs it I will take my leave and the police can find him themselves. I just want him out of our lives so we can be free." Snatching the paper from Silas she handed it to Jose with a pen, he collected it and turned to Matthew, "what are you waiting for? Sign the papers right now!"  

Matthew compiled without objecting. Diana's happiness knew no bounds as she was handed back the paper which now carried Matthew's signature consenting to a divorce. 

Folding the paper carefully, she tucked it in her bag, "I will be on my way now, may God bless you sir I will never forget this favour you have done me and my family. It will be passed down for generations." She threw Matthew one last look of disapproval before walking away. What a mad woman Jose thought as he watched her dance happily towards her car with no idea of the calamity that was about to befall her and her family.

"Tell me everything that's happened in your life so far and do not leave a single thing out." Jose said to Matthew as they resumed their walk into the building. Matthew narrated everything from the beginning on how his business crashed and Diana approached him. Jose was beyond furious to hear that the woman was the one who came up with a proposal, with what she described earlier one would think Matthew pleaded for seven days to get married to her daughter.

"I'm sorry that you had to suffer all these, Son. Now that I have found you, I can assure you that such will not be repeating itself again. From now on, nobody will have such power over you rather you will be the one from trampling over them. All that I have is yours and you may use it however you like but first and foremost let us teach those who put you through hell a lesson." Jose was known for being ruthless and crushing his enemies in a single step and he planned to raise his son in the same manner. 

Matthew asked to go back to Diana's home to get his belongings but was told by Josie to forget everything of his in that mansion, his files and documents were safe in the office anyway there was nothing there that could not be replaced. 

The old man told him to prepare for a party instead. "I plan to introduce you to the world as my heir tonight," he said to Matthew on their ride home, "is there anyone you would like to extend an invite to?"

"Yes." Matthew quickly answered, "I would like you to invite my ex wife and mother-in-law along with Zane Gonzalez."
