CHAPTER 16.

"Switch off the air conditioner." Slade ordered out of the blue.

Candyce had no reason to argue yet. She found the remote control of the AC and switched it off from the spot.

"The pool of sweet has to dry naturally. It might look unnecessary, but it's important in the process." Slade added.

"Who are you?" Doctor Huggins couldn't hold himself back anymore.

At first, he had wanted to admire Slade from distance and not get too close because he was already looking for someone to blame the death of Jendall on if things didn't go well. But after seeing the technique that Slade had just employed in treating the old man, curiosity got the best of him, and he was now a mere shadow of his desires.

Slade turned to look at the doctor. He saw the look of utmost awe crawling up the face of the man. He could still remember how this man was glaring at him earlier. He could remember how the man hardly paid any attention to him earlier. What changed now?
