Chapter 56

Lord JK stopped what he was doing as soon the words travelled to him.

"Slade." Candyce said, looking up at the person who just entered into the foyer.

When Lord JK looked at Slade's face, he saw that it was knitted and held a very strong note of business.

"Leave us." He said, turning to his daughter.

"Dad?" Candyce was a little bit surprised when her father said this.

She looked away from her father to Slade. Judging by the way things were, she could tell at once that something was up.

Although she didn't want to leave and wasn't very much pleased with the way her father had spoken to her, she knew too well to see reason.

Whatever it was she was feeling at the moment, she could let it pass for now and then revisit it, perhaps when all of this is gone.

She got up and left for her room.

"Divine doctor." Lord JK said, now left with Slade. "You should have a seat."

Lord JK offered, getting up to go and pour a glass of wine.
