Raymond

Raymond was an orphan, disconnected from society. He was part of it, actually, but he chose not to interact with them.

His parents died when he was ten years old, and since that day, he had changed. He became lifeless and just listened to everyone and did everything that they expected.

Truth be told, it wasn't hard to live up to their expectations. Well, it was because their expectations were so low that they had nothing grand to expect from him.

He was an uncommon child. He didn't socialize with others. What could they expect from him?

Raymond was just like a dot in a masterpiece. He wasn't emphasized, but even with it, he was part of that masterpiece.

But even though he was like that, he was the most intelligent of his age. Despite being only ten years old, he already knew how to be mature and think rationally.

If not, how could he remain like that lifeless kid with no expression painted on his face? It was impossible as he came from a warm family.

That was a change in his personality. That drastic one was impossible for a normal kid, and so, just to live without any worries, Raymond decided to live like this.

But what could possibly happen to him if he chose to disconnect himself from the masses? No one would care for him. Only a kid living off the taxes of other people. Why would they care for him?

And so, he died, just like that, without anyone crying for him. He died... from a stab wound. And the reason was an accident?

But the truth behind it was so dark that no one had even discovered it. He was killed by a batchmate who scorned him for a pity reason.

As he was expressionless, this batchmate of his wanted to at least make "friends" with him. But this batchmate was ignored, surfacing a violent personality hiding in this child's body.

How could a 12-year-old boy commit a crime? Well, there was something hidden in the mystery that even the kid himself didn't know.

And just when Raymond was killed, this batchmate reported it as an accident, instantly taking their trust and trying to save Raymond. However, it was too late and the last smile came from this batchmate.

...

It was dark, cramped, and unrealistic. Raymond's consciousness was just covered by this darkness until, slowly, a light came into his vision. Raymond woke up with an intense headache. It wasn't literal, but it was an actual internal pain within his head.

He slowly opened his eyes, seeing a brown wooden ceiling in someplace. He was silent. Raymond remained in that position, and he wasn't even thinking about standing up.

And just when he soon realized he had died, he let out a sigh. He was confused. If he died, how could he feel the air and feel his skin feeling the soft blanket around his body?

These thoughts rushed inside Raymond's mind. He was still confused, but he decided to collect himself and observe the event with a calm expression.

Then he decided to get up from laying down on his bed. And now, he could see a small room with wooden walls, as if this room were just a part of a medium-sized hut made in a poor village.

Those were all of his assessments. It was commonly described in novels and used in games. But he isn't in one of them. At least, what he could think of was that what he remembered dying was just a dream.

"Impossible. That isn't logical. However, this is preferable to the ridiculous idea I have. I didn't wake up from reincarnation, right?"

It was only a small fantasy in his system, but he was truly thinking that he had been born again, or that he had at least transmigrated.

He disregarded it plenty of times as he assessed his surroundings. His eyes ventured around the room as his body was slowly lifted by his own force, standing up and leaving the bed's company.

He then touched his feet on the cold floor and reached for the windows, which were open to see the outside scenery.

It was a village. That was what Raymond noticed, and a few seconds later, his head twitched from the pain, as if his veins were popping from being squished.

He held his head as he endured the pain. His body swayed in different directions, hitting furniture inside this room.

He tripped over a few pieces of furniture, moaned in pain, and collapsed to the ground. He grunted, slowly lifted his body, and stood up.

His body felt tremendous pain. His muscles were cramped like he just came from training yesterday. It was random and he didn't expect it to come. What was the reason behind this? He could only ponder.

Raymond tilted his head and assisted himself by leaning on the bed.

"What the heck was that? It was too sudden. What's wrong?" He mumbled to himself as his breathing was slightly unstable.

"I... should learn what happened... It is bothering me. I am unsure of what is real and what is fake. My memories are distorted."

Raymond knew why he didn't know what was right. He was on the verge of losing his mind because of the variables presented to him, which had little to do with his memories and his beliefs, which could not support any of his speculations.

He calmed down and tried to reach the door, going outside of the room to learn more about what was happening.

But before he could reach the doorknob and open the door, he suddenly lost consciousness, creating a loud thud that the people outside heard.
