The clubhouse was almost empty. People didn't really want to party in the light of the day, they preferred the night when they can hide under the shadows of trees and perfect their act, whatever it may be. But in all, it didn't bother Jake. The fewer people that saw him go in and out of the clubhouse, the better for his reputation. The house looked brighter and better than before. Without all the lights blinding him, Jake was finally able to appreciate the architectural and interior design of the building. It was done to exquisite taste. Jake knew that neither Levi, nor Kelvin and definitely not Maverick had such knowledge, so the building had to be the handiwork of the Chairman. Shivers ran down his spine when he thought of that. He wondered what the man would do to him if he failed in his task. He could just imagine himself being skinned alive, or his limbs being removed from his body piece by piece. Again, he shivered at the thought. He moved his eyes from the building and focused
Jake's body went numb as he watched life sip out of Mr. Smith's body. A part of him knew that the man wouldn't make it out of there alive but he had hoped that he would. He had hoped that he could believe whatever words came out of Levi's mouth. This was enough to prove that he couldn't. "You killed him." He whispered to himself but the sound was loud enough for Levi to hear."Yes, I did Jake. I hate liars and this is the punishment I give to anyone who is." "Well then maybe you should be killed as well, after all, didn't you just lie to that man?""What are you going on about Swanson?" "You said you won't kill him but he is currently lying down, dead!" "He got what was coming his way and if you try to cross us, you will too. Now, let's go." Maverick shoved Jake out of the room and dragged him to the back seat of the car. He sat opposite him with a rifle aimed at him. It was a clear sign that if Jake tried to run, his life would quickly come to an end.Jake looked out the car's wi
Something about committing a crime always sends a rush of emotions through people's veins. It didn't matter if you were a saint or the worse sinner in the book, criminal activities came with a rush and sparkle like no other. Unfortunately, Jake couldn't stop himself from feeling it as well. Scotty could have been a dangerous criminal but all that didn't matter to Jake. He was his smooth sailing way to the land of bliss. "Okay, take a seat," Scotty said and scooted to the left, making room for his new supplier. "Forgive the inconveniences you have to endure. You see Levi didn't tell me that he will be delivering me with a new supplier. So I was a little bit shocked.""I understand your plight. So, let's get down to business.""I admire how straightforward you are." Scotty had a smirk on his face. Jake had to get used to people smiling at him in that fashion."Thank you.""Okay, so how much is it?" "A stash is $150," Jake tried to maintain eye contact with the man who was busy weighin
Jake tried to hide under the bar stool. If Officer Stiles was in the room, it could only mean one thing. He was after him. Or if the man wasn't after his life, the mere sight of him in the clubhouse would make him to be."Why are you hiding?" Maverick asked and when he turned to the door, he saw visibly men in uniform. Immediately, he dropped his glass of Martini and dashed out of the clubhouse through the back door. "Oh my God, police!" A man shouted and in a few seconds, the entire clubhouse was in disarray. Screams and the sounds of feet running across the room made Jake know that it was time to go. He took a quick survey of the legs of people he couldn't see their faces and then crawled out from under the table. Immediately he was away from the security the table offered, Officer Stiles spotted him. "There you are!" He muttered to himself. Jake was sensitive enough to have seen the policeman walking aggressively toward him because he turned to his heels and ran. Jake didn't care
It couldn't be Maverick. No. Jake shook his head to get rid of such horrific thoughts. It couldn't be Maverick because if he was involved then, it would mean that Amanda was involved as well and Amanda couldn't be involved. She wouldn't do this to him again, not after she had fallen in love with him. Jake shook his head violently. His wife couldn't be responsible. It could be that The Chairman had found some fault in the last assignment. But if that was the case, he should just tell him instead of plotting his downfall. Again what did he know about drug Lords? That was it, the Chairman wanted revenge on him for what he did to him. And if that was the case then he wasn't going to be gone for long. After a few hours, Levi would come and bail him out and then give him a stern warning. He couldn't wait. He sat back quietly, deciding to keep mute till they would come for him and he was sure that it will be soon."Awfully quiet back there Swanson," Stiles said as he focused his gaze on the
Jake raised his eyebrows unsure of what Amanda's word meant. He didn't remember telling her that he was arrested, so how did she know. And more importantly, why was there a wicked smile on her face. "Amanda, what are you doing here and how did you find out that I was here?" "OMG, Jake sometimes you can be really dumb. Must everything be spelled out for you? I'm the reason why you are here!" Amanda said joyfully, and this made Jake fall back on the chair for support. His brain kept telling him that she was just lying. Of course, it couldn't have been a plan. She wouldn't do that to him. At least not again."You promised." He whispered. "You said you loved me." Jake's heart was breaking for the second time and somehow it hurt more than it had the first time. How could he keep falling for the same thing day by day? What has he ever done to her? More questions ran through his mind as he stared intently at the woman who he thought had changed. She played him well, made him fall in love w
Jake blinked his eyes rapidly, he had to be dreaming. Sasha was in the hospital and not standing in front of his cell with a worried look on her face. He stretched forth his hands to touch her, just to know if she was real. Sasha took his hands in hers."It really is you! How did you get here?! You are supposed to be sick and in the hospital. Wait," Jake took a pause to consider the odds leveled against him. "You aren't a part of this, are you?" "I don't know what it is you are talking about but I am not a part of anything. I was partly awake when I heard Amanda tell me all about what she plans to do to you. I pretended to be asleep till she was done and when she left, I just followed her and here I am. Jake, why would you lie to me?" "Sash, I didn't lie to you.""Yes, you did. You told me that everything is alright between you guys. Well, a wife who loves her husband the way you claimed Amanda loves you, would never do this kind of thing and she said that it is not the first time!"
Sasha ignored the fast pace of her heartbeat as she stared at Jake. She could see the tears threatening to fall from his eyes but she had to stand firm in her decision. Jake had to be taught a lesson, one way or the other. Sebastian couldn't understand the weird energy that existed between the two. He guessed it had something to do with Sasha swearing to never talk to Jake again but it was best to stay out of anything that had to do with Jake's personal life till he was told otherwise. "How are we going to hack into the system?" Sebastian asked, hoping to release the tension in the air. "I know a guy that works at an IT firm. He is the best at what he does and I believe that he will be more than willing to help us," Sasha said."Why would he be more than willing?" Jake asked skeptically."Because he has a crush on me. Do you have a problem with that?" Jake didn't have a problem with it. But the idea of an argument being the only thing that will make Sasha to still want to talk to hi
