Chapter fourteen

Italian wines were always good for apologies. It's what Jake used whenever he had wrong a person. The fact that he used something cliché with her didn't sit well with him.

She was different, special, calm and Jake wanted nothing more than to get to know her.

She twirled that drink in her hand like an old mafia leader. Maybe she was one. That would explain her fiesty nature. But she couldn't have been, after all, she had a daughter and the principal wasn't that scared of her.

Jake followed her movements as she looked at her phone and stood up to leave.

"Ah, where are you going?" He didn't want her gone just yet. He hadn't gotten the opportunity to know her fully. If he could have his way, she would be sitting there talking all day.

"I have to get back to work." Amanda said as she started putting things into her bag.

"But lunch break isn't over yet."
