Room 416

The doctor left before Jake could ask him any other questions. The last thing he said was that Jake should sort out the bill at the counter before he left. As soon as he left, the dark cloud in the room lifted and Amanda's body slowly went back to its normal temperature. Jake was torn between pushing to find out what his wife was hiding and living his normal life, pretending that nothing was wrong. If he went on to find out what his wife was hiding, he risked losing his sanity. Some things were better left unknown to him, so he ignored his instincts and acted like all was well.

"Babe, what are you thinking about?" He heard Amanda ask him. What was the point of talking to her when all he would get as a response were lies? He looked at her and by God, he wanted to tell her everything. He wanted to ask her everything and tell her about his fears but he knew that he was walking on eggshells with her and it would be a very terrible mistake if he started telling her all that he had to say.
