The First Kiss

The duo were silent as they drove back to his apartment. Jake couldn't believe that he had just said those words. He blamed it on the thrill he got from standing up for himself and having a woman back him up for once. But due to his stupid words, he was sure that Amanda had gotten a glimpse of his feelings.

He parked the car and Amanda rushed upstairs, leaving behind everything they had gone shopping for. Jake followed her and when he opened the door, he saw her scrambling around looking for something.

"What are you looking for?" He was almost afraid to ask.

"A ring?"

"Why?"

"So that you can propose properly."

"Are you sure about this?!" Jake asked, confused that a few hours ago the same woman only wanted to get married to him because of what he was willing to offer.

"Look, it's going to happen anyways and I know that your broke ass can't afford a ring, so this is the best I can settle for."

"Amanda, are you listening to yourself? Otherwise you left a ring here, I can assure you that
