The Investigation

The drive back home was done in silence and the driver constantly peeped at the back seat from the driver's mirror. His brain was in a cloud of worry as he wondered why a perfectly good-looking couple would be seated so far away from each other. 'But then, maybe they aren't a couple.' The man thought to himself as he shrugged his shoulders and focus on the road.

Jake stole occasionally glances at Amanda's face. She was back to being a bitch, Jake sighed when he realized that he was right all along. The woman didn't care for him, she never had and she never would. He focused his attention on the houses that spun out of his sight as soon as they got in and he slightly wound down the window glass to receive some air. Jake laid back on his chair and closed his eyes with the hopes of relaxing his head.

"Must you really act like an idiot all the time?" But relaxing was too much to ask for when Amanda was around. He opened his eyes and saw the young lady looking at him with folded hands.
