The Obvious Change

Jake knocked on his boss's door nervously, immediately he heard a soft 'come in', he took in deep breaths and walked into the man's office.

"Good afternoon sir," he greeted.

"Jake. Are you done with the cloth?" His boss asked without lifting his head.

"Not yet sir. Sir, I actually came to ask if I could be dismissed from work right now. My wife just called and she is really sick, and there is no one to take care of her." His boss finally lifted his head but Jake wished that he hadn't.

"When did you get married?"

"A few days ago sir."

"And I'm just finding out now?"

"It was a small wedding. Very small wedding." Jake narrowed his index finger and his thumb to show the man just how small the wedding was.

"Okay fine," the man said after a few seconds of silence. "You can go but you better get back to work so early in the morning or else you are fired. And if you should ask for another excuse to leave work early this month, consider yourself without a job. Now get out of my office
