Evelyn Orthia Nychterin

"Beautiful..."

He let out unconsciously.

Long smooth black hair and the most beautiful eyes he ever saw. Shining white which contrasted with her black hair. Furthermore, she was standing just behind the star cluster.

It made her figure even more fantastic.

"Beautiful...?"

Evelyn tilted her head, which was very cute.

Orion averted his gaze and replied.

"I-I mean you are beautiful..."

Orion trailed off in the end. He was very nervous.

"You said I'm beautiful but you are averting your eyes."

Evelyn said before putting her face in front of Orion.

She was looking at him curiously.

Orion was stunned and stepped back.

"I-I'm sorry!"

"Why are you sorry ?"

"T-That's..."

'What is this conversation?!'

"Are you sad ?"

Evelyn suddenly asked.

"...!"

Orion looked at her. Her expression was as stoic as ever but her white eyes were peering into him.

"Yes..."

Orion admitted and stood up.

"Because of the Solaria princess ?"

Evelyn asked with a hint of interest in her expression.

"I-I'm sure she had a reason."

Orion replied with a confident voice.

He had known her for a full month, so he was sure, or at least he wanted to be sure.

"You are lying."

"Eh ?"

"You are not confident in your words."

Evelyn said in a carefree tone.

"That's..."

Orion looked at Evelyn and found her very different from the other girls he saw.

She seemed to be always absent-minded and carefree but somehow had sharp senses. Strange combination.

"W-Why are you here, Princess Evelyn ?"

Orion shifted the topic to her.

"Why are you changing the subject ?"

"..."

"I'm here because I wanted to know if you were sad."

"For that?!"

Orion was dumbfounded because she was probably telling the truth!

"I-I'm sorry...I was just surprised by your reason."

He quickly apologized, feeling bad.

Evelyn looked at him for a few seconds, then spoke.

"My parents also treated me like Princess Liana treated you."

"Eh?"

"When they said that Melissa should have gotten my eyes, I felt very painful there."

Evelyn said, pointing to her chest behind the beautiful purple gown.

"Pr-incess Evelyn..."

Orion was shocked by the revelation and she was saying this with an expressionless face.

"The previous week, they said that they would take my eyes to transplant them to my sister if I didn't awaken..."

"W-wait! Princess E-Evelyn, why are you telling me this...?"

Orion was shocked that such parents could even exist. He thought now that he was very lucky on his own. But he couldn't understand why she was telling him this.

"Say Orion. Am I feeling sad ?"

Evelyn asked, still without expression.

Orion was speechless but replied to her.

"Y-yes I think you are sad..."

"Why...?"

"Because, like me with Princess Liana, you don't want your parents to avoid you, I-I think..."

"I don't want my parents to avoid me ?"

Evelyn cocked her head to the side.

"Th-That's my opinion..."

Orion added hurriedly.

"Do you have parents, Orion ?"

Orion felt the conversation was going really fast but replied with a sad smile.

"Yes I had but not anymore."

Evelyn understood what he meant and asked another question.

"Did they avoid you or treat you coldly ?"

"Princess..."

"Hm ?"

Seeing her carefree expression again, he sighed.

"No. I was happy with them. M-My parents were really gen-gentle, they would hug me and reassure me everyday even though I was sick..."

Orion's voice got hoarse as he remembered his family.

"Were you happy with just that ?"

Evelyn's calm voice rang out.

"Y-Yeah I was happy with just that...sob*"

Orion replied hoarsely.

Tears streamed down slowly from his face.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, Orion felt something soft hugging him from the front.

"Pr-princess?!"

Orion was dumbfounded as Evelyn hugged him suddenly.

"I also want to feel happy."

"H-Huh ?"

"My parents are still here but never hugged me. It has always been my brother and sister."

Evelyn was slightly shorter than Orion, so she looked up, but this time there was a hint of envy in her eyes.

"I-I..."

Orion's emotions were in disarray as nobody had ever hugged him like this before his parents. Their cold bodies heated up upon close contact.

Evelyn hugged him tightly to get more of this new feeling, which was not bad.

"It feels very good. Your parents did that every day ?"

"Y-yes...sniff...sniff"

Orion replied, crying profusely.

The sad dream, the cold behavior of Liana and now remembering about his parents. It was too much for him.

He didn't know what the true cause was, but anyway, he cried and unconsciously, his arms wrapped around Evelyn's body.

Orion's tears fell on Evelyn's face and hair but she didn't care. She was just innocently hugging Orion to feel 'happy'.

Evelyn felt very warm, she didn't know if she felt happy or not, but she regretted it.

She regretted that she hadn't done something so pleasant before.

Her twin brother and younger sister didn't treat her harshly but she spoke to them properly just a year ago.

Yes, her parents cut off purposefully any contact between her and her other two siblings.

Evelyn felt jealous of her siblings but she didn't know that. Since she felt sad being with them, she didn't hang around them even after they met.

"...!"

Suddenly, Evelyn felt her body hugged back by Orion. Looking up at him, she saw him still with tears flowing down from his face but his eyes were closed.
