Trust.
A firm belief for someone or something.
Maxus remembered being in the exact same spot he was in two years ago. His father's funeral just finishing the day before. Maxus was a newly made orphan without any parents in his life to provide him the love and basic needs of life.
The scene was clear as day in his head. That day had an unforgiving weather, pouring heavily outside the cozy comfort of the temple and flooding several streets around them. The temperature was borderline freezing, Maxus remembered shaking profusely to the cold but at that moment, it was the least of his concerns.
He remembered feeling like he was sinking endlessly.
A pit of pure emptiness was awaiting him. He didn't know what was going to happen to him, he didn't know if there was anything that could allow him to keep even the house he was staying in, the last place in the world that connected him to his parents, something he deeply wished would never be taken away
The Blood Lion. I trust this role to you.Why Dad? Why is the Blood Lion neccessary to keep Singapore alive? Kenneth remembered asking his dying father this question, the day he made up his mind permenantly. "There will always be crime, there will always be corruption in every single country. No matter how hard you try, no matter how many good men you may have...crime and corruption will ALWAYS exist. So why not allow them and keep them to a minimum?"The role of the Blood Lion, allowing crimes and and illegal activites to take place in Singapore, happening everywhere but completely hidden from the outside world as well as it's own citizens, to give them the illusion of peace and a safe nation. If it has to happen, might as well let it by being the source and leader of all the crime.Only by doing this, Singapore will be safe from over corruption and crime."I know. You are all worried."Minister Kenneth faced the large crowd of thousands of residents in front of him, all of them look
Sometimes...it just feels like the world itself hates me.The weather matched Maxus' mood. The heavy rain, the dark sky, even things like the eerily silent environment and coldness of the atmosphere, everything seemed to reflect how he was feeling. The teenager reached his home as the Soultaker, drenched completely and began undressing, removing the pieces of clothing and armor on his body."Why..." Maxus muttered, collapsing onto his couch in defeat. He didn't want to feel anything anymore. Yet again, because of him...someone else he didn't want to die was now gone. Ding.Maxus reluctantly dragged his phone out of his pocket, looking at the notifications on the screen. Usually, he would he on cloud nine, messages from Leah asking if she could visit. He didn't want to throw his problems onto her again...she really doesn't deserve any of this.Maxus set his phone down, closing his eyes and leaning back into his couch, trying his best to clear his head, too exhausted physically and emo
Monday.Tuesday.4 days left till the Election.5 different locations attacked by the Soultaker in just two days. Seventeen gangsters killed, five freed immigrants who were forced to work here and seven girls who were freed from the black mail of high ranking officials in powerful companies. Everything seemed to pass by like a fever dream, memories were fuzzy and many times, Maxus found his body moving by it's own, his own combat instincts keeping him fighting like a beast while he...He didn't even feel conscious.Maxus ravaged his way through stacks of files, threatened the people responsible and yet, no one had any clue on what Minister Kenneth was truly doing. Most of them were simply getting paid and most of them didn't even know who was running the entire operation.Tuesday Morning. 10am.The vigilante returned home as he always did, soaked in a mixture of blood and sweat. Maxus set down a new bag of files he collected, transactions from Cheng Finances to smaller businesses who
Kenneth Cheng, Minister of Finance and CEO of Cheng Finances suspected for a magnitude of crimes. That was the headline.Reynesh knew what happened, immediately getting up from his bed to pack his clothes into a luggage. Ali Kaur had started the case officially, presented the evidences to a judge who has locked all the evidences into the legal system. In the meantime, Oscar and Alicia had already been gathering all the evidence and submitting them to news stations all over the country, ready to spread the deeds of the Blood Lion everywhere.Ali Kaur watched as Judge Lily Sim analyzed through all of the evidences, her eyes clearly shocked with all the information that was given to her. All the crimes that have been taking place, the way the evidences were shown perfectly displayed how they were hidden for so long. "I cannot believe all these have been happening in our country without anyone knowing about it." Lily muttered."I didn't believe it either. But as a lawyer when the victims
The day he had hoped would never arrive... They had done what he once thought was impossible. Kenneth Cheng pressed his palms together, pulling on his hair as the pressure of his reputation leak increased. An image he had taken so long to build up now at the risk of being completely wiped by a lone vigilante. "Kenneth?" The Minister swallowed his saliva, trying to hold back his emotions as his wife Laura entered his office room within their penthouse apartment. " Those accusations about you on the news...those aren't true right?" "Of course not babe. How could they be? Someone is jealous, I suspect that I have successfully targeted a plague in our country, someone who hates the good I am doing for this country but don't worry, we will bounce back from this setback. I will make this nothing more than a minor inconvenience." Kenneth tells his wife. "Kenneth...please don't lie to me." Laura begged. "I'm not-" "I saw the evidences. Those doesn't look fake. Many of those are records
Eden knew this was his only way out.If the Soultaker was indeed to be trusted, then this station was one of the remaining few that was still un-corrupted by the Blood Lion. The assassin held on to his bleeding hand, limping slowly towards the police station where he was instantly spotted by several officers. "Who are you?! Stop right there with your hands up!" The first officer fished his taser out of his equipment belt, pointing it at the assassin.Eden raised his hands, looking at the policeman with an emotionless look on his face."That's...he's an assassin isn't he?" A police officer seemed to recognize Eden when the chief inspector of the station walked out. Officer Wong himself looked directly at Eden who still had his hands up, looking back at the inspector. The assassin's visible scars across his body and tattered clothes had already told a story that Officer Wong had already roughly figured out."That's the Red Scorpion, one of the most infamous assassins in Asia." Officer W
Who Will You Be I have bled. I have fought. The first kill. Maxus stood over the body of a serial rapist who had been on the news for the past few days, a man who had been wanted for kidnapping teenage girls. It was pure coincidence that Maxus had bumped into him at an abandoned construction site that he was investigating for news of the killer of his father and when they met that day, Maxus knew this was his first victim to unleash his rage upon. Maxus could remember the look on the kidnapped girl's face, pure horror and fear filled her eyes as he jammed his combat blades into the eyes of the rapist, twisting his eye sockets out and ending his life brutally, ripping two holes right through his first victim's head, pushing his bloodied corpse onto the ground and splattering chunks of meat out of his skull. He didn't even feel a thing, his heart felt empty and remorseless. The girl closed her eyes, accepting her fate as Maxus walked towards her to cut the ropes that tied her limbs
8 Months Later"See you tomorrow evening?""Yeah, 7pm right? I'll be there."Maxus took in a deep breath, sliding his phone back into his pocket as he slipped on his freshly constructed Soultaker mask, taking a step back into the cold shadows of Sun Plaza Shopping Mall, counting down to midnight and awaiting for his prey to arrive. The shopping center was closed as midnight approached, most lights of the building now turned off, allowing Maxus to adopt the shadows to his tactical advantage."Alright, how many boxes are we expecting?""20, at least 40 kilograms. Make sure it's all accounted for.""I thought there was 200 boxes.""We shipped those into IKEA just yesterday."Maxus crept into the corner of the furniture shop's pillar, watching as four adult men unlock the entrance of the shop, opening it and shining their torches into the darkness. "Should be within that red sofa, open it up." One of the man whispers as the second proceeded, opening the zipper of the sofa and sure enough,
