Dina and Andrew tiptoed through the large city, trying their best to stay away from the hidden lights of the watchtowers. They covered a decent amount of ground before finally coming across the more bush part of the settlement: the slums they had passed earlier. They saw some guards but saw no reason to be scared of them since they began to see other residents moving about so they just decided to blend in with the crowd. They had covered themselves up with scarves to hide their identities, especially Phillip. His hair and eye color always stuck out like a sore thumb. They began moving through the slums, they saw people sleeping under the tents and inside the makeshift container houses. However, the more they walked the larger the crowd seemed to become. As they were reaching towards the center they saw a gathering of people surrounding a bonfire. The air around them was one full of cheer and heartiness. It was admirable considering their deplorable conditions. Phillip looked around
"Philip, that's insane!" Andrew said with a bewildered expression."You saw what's happening with these people!" Philip retorted."Can you imagine the agony of having your life force sucked out of you? Because I sure as hell cannot! Say what you want but there's no way I'm just going to let all these people die for some selfish vixen!" Philip was truly livid after he knew what these people had been going through.Hearing this, Andrew pressed his palms together in front of his face and took a deep breath."I fully understand where you're coming from." He started."But how in God's name do you intend to save them? I know your morals won't let you sit by and let something like this happen, but do you really think you can save all the people in this place? You got exhausted just by carrying Dina and I and who knows how many people are in here?" Andrew reasoned."I know that!" Philip said through his teeth. Then he blew out a breath and his rage seemed to go out with it."I'm not going to
"I hope things turn out well for those people, they seem to have been through a lot," Dina said and looked back in the direction they came from. By now, half a day had passed and the group had made quite a bit of distance from the settlement. They left immediately both to save time as well as to avoid being entangled with whatever happened after Ford became the new leader."When we reach our destination, I'm planning to come back here and see how this place becomes." Philip said and smiled at the other two."Would you guys follow me?" He asked and the duo shrugged."Sure," Andrew asked for the two of them."I want to come too!" Benjamin moved his head from Dina's back and said."Hehe. Sure." Phikok chuckled."Anyway, now that we're on the move again, we still have about 29 miles to cover before we reach our destination," Dina said."We should be able to make decent time. So yeah. Home stretch I guess." Dina smiled."Don't get complacent, we still have those guts chasing after us, we c
Philip looked at the battered, severed head in front of him and his mind went blank, he was unable to process all the information he just received."You see, I sent out an order. It was to capture you and kill anyone who you deemed as an ally or companion. Since you went out of your way to help those rats, I naturally had to enforce my order." Kaiser snickered seeing Philip's expression."Don't feel bad. We would have killed them regardless. Still, I can't help but marvel at how much you care about those pests." Kaiser shook his head."You told Xavier that they were innocent. Would you spare a rat if it hadn't done anything? And besides, even if you spare it, it will eventually take advantage of you. These pests may look up to you now. But sooner or later, they'll begin to fear you, and then they'll try to either kill you or control you." Despite saying all this, Philip didn't hear him. Or rather, his brain didn't register his words. He just kept looking at Ford's head in a daze.It h
"Hmph, the only reason you beat me before is because you caught me off-guard. I won't let the same thing happen twice." He declared confidently."That's a nice way of saying you were completely outmatched by me, but sure, take it however you want." Philip said with total disregard.Xavier was annoyed by his words, but he didn't make any dumb moves.'Xavier is almost fully recovered and can fight. Though from what he said, Philip completely negated his shield the last time they fought. Then again, I doubt he'd be bold enough to engage Philip without having a way to fix his defences.' Kaiser thought as he stared at Philip who seemed to be thinking.'I have about 80% of my energy left. And Kaiser is somewhere between heavily and moderately wounded after my last attack.' Philip thought and glanced at Xavier.'He's arrogant but I don't think he's dumb. There's no way he'd fight me again without some way to properly defend himself.' He looked at Kaiser and Xavier again and the two immediate
Three days later."We should be coming up on the settlement soon." Dina said as she looked at the map before folding it up.Andrew let out a breath of relief while Philip simply nodded with no expression. Dina saw this and sighed inwardly.'He still blames himself.' She thought. After Philip had cried his heart out, he ended up sealing his emotions behind an impassive face. Dina wanted him to know that doing that instead of confronting his emotions would harm him in the long run. But she couldn't just bring herself to do so.'Seeing him cry like that.' Her mind went back to that moment when she saw him weeping. And her heart couldn't help but shatter for him. They knew just how much he wanted to help those people. After all, she and Andrew wanted to help them as well. So the feeling they got after they realized that all their efforts were for nought was just horrible.'Well, hopefully, this place is what we hope it is. That way we can properly settle down.' She decided and put the map
Phillip took a deep breath and nodded towards the guards beside him. They opened the door and led him into the building. As they walked past, Phillip could see the design of the building was different from what it displayed outside. As they entered the building, Phillip noticed that there was a large space between the four corners of the building. Trees and other vegetation occupied the area, it was refreshing to see greenery well-kept in such a chaotic setting. They turned a corner which led them to a hallway that stretched for what felt like miles. Eventually, they got to another corner when the guards surrounding him came to a pause.“You’ll need to put this on from here.” One of them said while bringing out a black mask, which he wanted to put over Phillips's head or so he supposed. “What exactly is the point of that?” Phillip asked with a lame expression on his face.“The location of Sir Greyson is confidential and respectfully speaking, you are still an outsider. So please compl
“Choose your next words wisely. Otherwise, you and everyone else in this room are going to be In serious danger.” Phillip said as he looked down on Greyson who was trying to steady his breathing. The guards around him were still aiming all their weapons at him and the rest of the people in the room were intrigued as well. Eventually Greyson rose to his feet, adjusting his clearly worn out suit and tie before clearing his throat.“Ahem, I am sorry Phillip. It seems like there has been a misunderstanding somewhere in our conversation. I did not mention your companions to threaten you. I simply wanted to make a bargain with you.” Greyson explained.“Our facility is safe, we have security, food and a place where you and your companions can sleep. Surely this is much better than wandering endlessly? Would it not be better to make this place your base of operations?” Greyson proposed to him.“Well, your guards don’t particularly seem pleased to accept me.” Phillip said while glaring at the
