“Wait a moment, can someone please explain to me what special grade means? I have been hearing about them for a while but it seems like I’m not completely sure.” Christopher spoke loudly into the halls of the cell.He had been hearing those words but did not know what they meant exactly. Seeing as these people were opening up to him a bit, this would be the right time to know more about it.“Ha ha ha, poor kid. Where have you been all this time?” Andre said with a laugh, which was the first time he had actually laughed in the entirety of Christopher’s time here.“You don’t even know what a special grade is? Ha ha ha, this kid cracks me up way too much ha ha ha!” Joey said from his cell.“Well there is no use laughing at him. Why not just tell him instead of wasting his time and making him feel bad.” Anna chimed in irritatedly.“She is right, so who wants to have the honor of telling him what the heck is actually going on?” Marco asked the group.“I’ll do it.” Andre said and everywhere
“What do you mean by that?” Marco asked timidly.“How on earth are we supposed to find this supposed settlement that the kids been talking about? Asides from the fact that it might not even be real, how do we even get out of this place?” Marco chimed in, the fear evident in his voice as well.“How else would we do it? It is by getting out of this place.” Andre said boldly, confirming Marco and joeys fears from earlier. He was saying they should break out of this prison and look for the settlement Christopher had just told them about.“But Andre, as much as I would like to get out of here, it’s too risky. We are not the only special grades here so we could get caught. Or even worse killed.” Anna raised her concerns.“I get where you are coming from Anna, Joey, Marco. But we can not lie to ourselves. How long are we going to keep staying here and hoping we don’t get picked off like the others who have come and gone?” Andre reasoned with them.“We are not the only ones that have been bro
As Phillip ran through the grounds leading to the settlement, he took a moment to look around and assess all the damage that had been done.Except for the original casualties that had been inflicted during the first surprise attacks, there were only injuries and a bit of damage.Phillip shook his head as he saw one of the troops crying while holding the dead. ‘If only they had listened to me’ he thought as he made his way into the settlement.A quick one and two turns here and there and Phillip had found himself in front of Franks laboratory. He stopped suddenly in front of the guards and began to release steam from his body which put them on high alert. However, when it cleared, they saluted and opened the door for him to walk through with the corpse of the infected on his shoulder.Once again he took a few turns here and there and found himself on the elevator leading to Frank's floor. When he stepped out he immediately walked forward and opened the door to the laboratory. The famil
Back at the base Phillip and Andrew sat together in the reception of the makeshift hospital in the settlement. Dina had begun to make a recovery and gained consciousness.Although the nurses and doctor advised them that she needed rest and would not allow any visitors so they had allowed her the past day or two to rest. Finally, they were told they could see her. They were however waiting for her hospital gown to be changed before they were allowed inside. They were waiting with Benjamin and Peter who had also been anxious as well after finding out about what had happened to Dina. Frankly, she had become quite popular with the members of the settlement, so this news saddened the lot of them. Her kids she taught at the school and their parents sent flowers and letters, wishing her a speedy recovery. They had all begged to come but we’re not allowed as she was still recovering.“How long are they going to make us wait here?” Andrew asked as he continually tapped his foot on the ground
Xander fell to the ground once again, his body was screaming at him. Marks body lay on the floor, Adrian’s body lay in front of him. He rested his head against the wall behind him and clutched his side once again. He looked towards where Hailey was sat and saw her crouched against the wall with her legs tucked against her chest. He used a larger part of his energy to lift himself up and move over to his crying little sister. She leans into him and continues sobbing. Xander felt terrible. Not just because of the pain he was feeling, but because of what his sister was experiencing. She was barely thirteen and she had just killed a man and lost her father a day ago. He was barely holding on so he couldn’t imagine how traumatic it was for her. He looked at the horrific sight in front of them, with marks body and Adrian tied up in the corner. ‘Things won’t get better as long as we are in this same spot.’ He thought inwardly. He slowly got up and gently raised his sisters up in the
Xander was in a bind, the cabin they had struggled so much to get to was right in front of them but instead of relief, he felt tension. The people there numbered about ten or so, it wouldn’t be wise to confront them head-on. Furthermore, he did not want to approach them either. After what he had experienced with Mark and Adrian, he did not want to give anybody the benefit of the doubt. He could still remember the look on his face when he tried to choke the life out of him. He had gotten wiser in the last twenty-four hours believe it or not. He concluded that the best he could do was simply try to get enough cans of food before the others entered into the cabin. Funnily enough, they seemeddisagreeing. An older man with patches of grey hair seemed to be telling them not to forcefully enter, while a slightly younger man, probably middle-aged was raging for them to break the door down. This however was not a time for him to gawk and stare. It was a time for him to act! “Hailey, stay
Phillip was in a daze, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. ‘How was this even possible?’ He thought within himself. From what he had seen, the infected usually had animal-like or insect-like features with human bodies, however they carried more of the animal-like or insect-like characteristics with more disfigured features. But this time it was different, it had a human face with a lizard-like body. Its head had black eyes and equally black hair. Its mouth opened and Philip almost expected it to say something. Killing it now would leave a bitter taste in his mouth as he did not want to see the face of a human being while he was killing such creatures. Instead it let out a screech that sent shivers down his spine. The sound waves reverberated and sent shockwaves throughout the surrounding areas. Debris and pieces of wood and sand flew all over the place as the monster screamed in the direction of the retreating troops. Some dodged by jumping out of the way while others got c
“Xander, remember, just do everything exactly how I told you to, okay?” Phillip said as he seemingly vanished into thin air. The plan was simple, all he had to do was stay in place and wait for Phillip to play his part. The. Xander gulped and nodded before staring in the direction of the strange infected. Right now, most of the troops had turned their attention away from the normal infected and focused their fire on it. However, they might as well as thrown cotton at a brick wall. “HEY!” Xander suddenly yelled and pulled out a flare gun. Hopefully, they were right. The creature didn’t really pay attention to Xander’s shout. However, when he pointed the gun at the floor and shot the flare which burned brightly, it suddenly paused and fixed its gaze on him causing his whole body to shudder. On one hand, he was happy that their hunch had been right. Since the infected resembled a reptile, it also seemed to have gained the ability to perceive heat. However, Xander’s joy was short-l
