As Phillip ran through the grounds leading to the settlement, he took a moment to look around and assess all the damage that had been done. Except for the original casualties that had been inflicted during the first surprise attacks, there were only injuries and a bit of damage. Phillip shook his head as he saw one of the troops crying while holding the dead. ‘If only they had listened to me’ he thought as he made his way into the settlement. A quick one and two turns here and there and Phillip had found himself in front of Franks laboratory. He stopped suddenly in front of the guards and began to release steam from his body which put them on high alert. However, when it cleared, they saluted and opened the door for him to walk through with the corpse of the infected on his shoulder. Once again he took a few turns here and there and found himself on the elevator leading to Frank's floor. When he stepped out he immediately walked forward and opened the door to the laboratory. Th
“Do not even Think about stopping until I say so!” Andrew barked at the troops who were visibly tired while running laps. Their bodies seemed to ache and their chests heaved with each breath they took in. Andrew watched their progress with a whistle around his neck and arms folded across his chest. Ever since he became Captain, he had completely turned around the training regime of the force. They were now more effective and able to handle more difficult situations, thanks to Andrew’s guidance. He continued to watch over their progress when he heard the sound of a vehicle drive onto the training ground. He turned around and saw one of Greysons aides alight from the vehicle and walk up to him. “Captain Andrew, I have been instructed to take you to Mr Greyson immediately. He said there is something you must need to know.” She said. Andrew looked at the troops who were running behind him, of course they prayed internally that he would leave so that they could get a chance to rest a
Phillip and Andrew left the room in silence, while walking side by side. They were still trying hard to comprehend what they had just heard. Even Phillip, who was the first to be informed still about the whole situation still had a hard time believing it. Turning people into infected for personal gains was something he never thought he would discover. However that was the reality, and all they could do was stop it from happening. “When do you want us to leave?” Andrew asked, bringing Phillip back to reality. “I was thinking tomorrow, any later than that and it would be unnecessary. We do not exactly have that much time to waste, especially considering we do not even know if the boy is still wandering the streets by himself.” Phillip responded. “What about Dina? Has she been informed about what is going on?” Andrew asked once again. Phillip shook his head, they had not mentioned anything to her yet as he did not see it as that important. But now that he thought about it, he would
The sun had barely risen when, just as they had previously planned, everyone had assembled in front of Greysons safe house. Phillip, Frank, Andrew, Dina, Xander, Greyson and a couple guards were all standing in front of the building. Obviously Greyson and Frank were not going to follow them on the expedition, however he came to offer his moral support. They were given a single armored vehicle with enough food and water to last them at least a week. Their objective was simple. Find the kid and bring him back to the base. “We are all packed and ready to go.” Andrew said as he joined the group who were now standing in a circle. Philip glanced at Dina who noticed and turned her gaze away from him. “Alright. I am sorry that I have to rely on all of you once again but that is simply the situation that we find ourselves in.” Greyson said to them. “Not at all, this is what we signed up for when we decided to become a part of the settlement.” Phillip said to Greyson. “Definitely, besid
By this point, Christopher had already accepted his fate and began walking back to the orphanage. He was cold, hungry and bruised from the way he was thrown out of the car. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he saw the big wooden doors of the orphanage. At his little age he was still able to feel the pain of being rejected by your own parents. The thoughts that were running through his mind were not thoughts any six year old should be thinking about. “What do I do? How do I eat? What happens if the people in the orphanage do not like me?” Those thoughts ran through Christopher’s mind at the speed of light and tears welled up in his eyes as he stood faced with the door in front of him. Just a few minutes ago he was in his parents car and now he was an orphan. Or not orphan since his parents were still alive, he had been abandoned. He sobbed quietly as he used his little hands to knock on the door. Seconds felt like minutes as his little heart thumped inside his chest, and finally
Nine years had just passed by in the blink of an eye and Christopher was now fourteen years old. He had grown up in the orphanage and had adjusted to life well there, better than he could have possibly imagined in all honesty. He never thought that he would find more peace in an orphanage than his parents own home. It took a while for the boys to get used to him but eventually they began to bond and connect with one another. The orphanage has also began to receive more donations from secret donor, the man did not want any attention. He was only doing it from the goodness of his heart. Everything was going well until that fateful day when they all went to the zoo. “Chris i do not think i have ever been this excited to go to the zoo.” One of the other orphanage kids, Solomon said excitedly. Chris just laughed, he loved to see the joy on his siblings faces whenever they were were experiencing something new. “Mother has been planning this for a long time and it kept getting delayed
Philip sat on a piece of broken concrete, his expression unreadable. Andrew wanted to approach him, but the moment he tried to get close, a sense of oppression descended on him making him know that getting close to Philip at the moment was not a good idea. ‘I hesitated.’ He thought with his hands clamped together. ‘Again, I hesitated. I could have easily killed Kaiser and none of this would have happened. But I hesitated.’ His agitation rose and he put his hand through his hair. “Goddamnit!” He shouted and smacked the floor next to him causing it to crack. ‘God knows what they are doing to her right now.’ He covered his face with his hands. At this moment, Andrew finally managed to steel himself and approach Philip.“Philip, I know how you’re feeling right now, but we can’t waste any more time. We need to go and get her.” Andrew said in a soft voice. “… I know.” Philip said before standing up and taking a breath, his eyes closed. “And this time, when we meet them. I won’t hold b
Christopher was beginning to stir up, finding himself waking up from a splitting headache. As he came into consciousness, he found himself tied up and immediately began to struggle. “It’s no use. You’ll only be released once you’ve answered all the questions we have for you.” Phillip said to Christopher who still looked drowsy. For someone who had the power of invulnerability, you could tell that Philip must have attacked him with so much strength and speed for him to have passed out. After capturing Christopher, Philip, Dina and Andrew have been waiting for him to come around. However, so many thoughts ran through Philip's head as he wondered why Christopher had been so hostile to them, despite them being the good guys. “Crap, if I have to tell you guys anything. I don’t owe you shit so let me go!” Chritopher struggled against the binds that held him in place. “I suggest you stop moving. Like Philip said, it’s no use. You’ll only be hurting yourself if you continue to resist.”
