Chapter 13

I wake up. I am still at the field. But it's evening.

The sun is setting and the moon could be seen. I see Hazel sitting beside me.

"Thank you for keeping watch. I think I can walk now." I thank her and pat her head.

My energy is back. But it's not like my physical energy was gone. So what kind of energy does it use?

And the firepower was incredible. If I shot a human with that, not even a bone would survive.

I take the gun and head back. I should think about it.

I should first read the book and research. First, know your enemy. Better than themselves.

Because the enemy has let their guard down. And they would be back in a while.

So I need to get ready so I can leave this planet.

I wanted to discover new places on this planet. But I think, I should greet them first.

I get back at home and I start reading the book.

I won't describe the whole book but here's the summary:

This world has many planets. On some, there is life. On some, there is only death. We have thrived on a blue planet. We started there. But we couldn't stay there anymore. The planet had rejected us. We were forced to leave our mother planet. On this planet, we were born. But we had to leave the planet. A long time has passed since then. We have settled down on another planet. This planet is not as gentle as our mother. It's harsh. But we have no other place to go. But we plan to reclaim our planet.

That's the gist of it. So they are probably our ancestors or something like that. But that doesn't have anything to do with me.

I am no saint. I am no hero either. I am just your average joe. I ain't gonna be picking a fight with them.

So let's prepare. That book also gave me some insight on the gun.

It's called a spirit gun. A spiritual weapon that uses your spirit directly.

I guess, we have stopped being a science fiction.

That weapon uses spiritual energy. That means your soul power.

Maybe that's why, I was so exhausted.

I have heard about those terms as people used to do yoga and stuff.

But I thought that they're only good as exercise. I didn't think it was actually helpful.

That means, I have to start training. Spiritual power can be amassed and made stronger.

First the physical training and then spiritual training.

If it's physical, I am confident. But let's do things their way. This book doesn't have any training routine.

I have to put my trust in those yoga and tai chi masters.

Luckily, I have everything I need to do that. And I will begin my training from tomorrow.

Let's take a nice break because, once I start, I cannot stop.

I should try out that staff as well.

It was a plain staff with nothing much. But since that gun proved to be useful, I wonder what it could do.

This staff has a gem embedded on it. But what does it do?

Don't tell me that this is one of those magic staff? For helping in casting the magic spell.

We have stopped being a science fiction but this is downright fantasy.

We are entering the idea of magic.

But unfortunately, this book doesn't say anything about this staff.

I have to find out by myself. But, I don't feel anything even if I hold the staff.

Should I concentrate?

I take the staff and go outside. Can't do anything inside the house.

Hazel comes with me. But she stood a little away from me.

Again thank you. I thank her in my mind.

I take the staff and close my eyes. I concentrate.

I don't know how much time has passed but I can see something.

I see a rainbow. Why would I see a rainbow? My eyes are closed and yet I see a beautiful rainbow.

I open my eyes to see that the gem is glowing.

It's rainbow colored. What the hell is happening?

When I was thinking that, I subconsciously said one thing,

"Fire."

Wait?!!! Why would I say fire?

But the gem turned red and fire came out.

Whaaaaaattt? Isn't that cheating? Author, I am broken. Isn't this a plot hole?

I don't think blaming the author would help me much. So I calm down.

While keeping my concentration, I try saying different things.

I saw many things come out of the staff.

Hazel is intently looking at me.

Now then, what to do? I have become a magical girl.

"..." Kill me. I am too embarrassed. This is embarrassing.

I take Hazel and go back to the house.

I should put the staff aside and prepare for my training.

It would be rigorous and I have stabilize my mind as well.

The road is long and when they come, I at least want to hijack their ship.

So I pat Hazel and start cooking.
