Chapter-4: The Reunion

As Ray's laughter echoed and his aura intensified, a surge of energy coursed through him, fusing determination and empowerment. His presence exuded a unique blend of desperation and strength, captivating those who witnessed it. Amidst this charged atmosphere, a masked figure emerged from the shadows, his curiosity piqued by Ray's extraordinary energy. With cautious intrigue, he took a bold step forward and inquired, "And who might you be?"

Ray's laughter continued to fill the air, resonating with a sense of confidence and enigma. Slowly, he lifted his head, his gaze steady and unwavering. His eyes seemed to hold a world of secrets and untamed power. As he reached out, he extended his hand towards the masked man, a silent invitation for a connection that transcended words.

The masked man hesitated for a moment, his gaze locked with Ray's intense eyes. There was a palpable tension in the air, a meeting of forces beyond the physical realm. With a mixture of uncertainty and anticipation, the masked man eventually reached out, allowing his gloved hand to clasp Ray's.

Ray's expression shifted. His eyes bore a mixture of understanding and determination. With a swift motion, he used the grip on the masked man's hand to spin him around and, in one fluid motion, flung him away. The masked man's figure sailed through the air, his cloak billowing behind him, before landing with a thud.

After forcefully flinging the man away, Ray agilely leaped back into the classroom through the shattered window. His eyes scanned the room to find Max engaged in conversation with Jenny and John. Stepping forward, his voice carried an air of familiarity, "Long time no see, girl. How have you been?" His words held a blend of curiosity and a touch of playfulness, revealing a past connection between them.

In response, Max's expression remained composed, a hint of amusement in her eyes. "Oh, you know, same old, same old," she replied casually. "Just dropping by to see how things are going."

Before Ray could respond, he was caught off guard as Max unexpectedly threw a splash of water at his face. Stunned, he wiped the water off with a mixture of confusion and irritation. "What are you doing, you brat? Who do you think you're messing with?" he retorted, his tone laced with annoyance.

However, the atmosphere shifted drastically as Ray's eyes transformed, turning into a striking thunderous color. An eerie blue aura emitted from his form, sending shivers down the spines of everyone in the class. The energy he exuded was both astonishing and unsettling.

As the air crackled with tension, Ray raised his hand, summoning a thunderbolt from the heavens with a resonating cloud-crackling sound. The room seemed to tremble in response to his power. With a determined gaze, Ray launched the thunderbolt at Max, the raw energy surging through the air.

But Max was no ordinary opponent. Her keen observation and agility allowed her to react swiftly, dodging the incoming thunderbolt with uncanny ease. Her eyes widened with a mixture of surprise and respect as she witnessed Ray's display of power. The intensity of the moment hung in the air, a clash of energies that left everyone in the room awestruck and on edge.

Max's face contorted with a mixture of terror and amazement as she tried to comprehend the situation. Her voice trembled with a mix of confusion and concern, "Ray, what are you doing? Why are you attacking me? You're not acting like yourself."

In response to her words, Ray suddenly soared into the air, his body defying gravity. His hand rose into the air once again, summoning another thunderbolt from the space around him. With a voice that reverberated with power, he declared, "This time, it's not going to miss."

As he prepared to hurl the thunderbolt, his determination palpable, Max could only watch in a mixture of shock and anticipation. However, just as he was about to release the powerful energy, his hand altered its course. The thunderbolt veered away from Max and soared outside, striking the vehicles of the masked men who had been lurking nearby. The vehicles erupted in a fiery explosion, their destruction resonating with a satisfying boom.

With a controlled descent, Ray landed gracefully on the ground. His eyes returned to their normal state, and he addressed the class with a hint of relief in his voice, "It just missed. Are you all okay?"

Turning his gaze to the classroom, his attention was captured by Max's presence. She rushed toward him, her emotions raw and unfiltered. Without warning, her fist connected with Ray's face, a punch that held years of pent-up emotion. He stumbled backward, surprised by the sudden blow.

Before Ray could react, Max's arms were wrapped around him, pulling him into a tight embrace. Her voice was a mixture of anger and relief as she scolded, "Where have you been for the past four years? I've been all alone without both of you! I missed you so much!"

Ray's own emotions were in turmoil as he hugged her back just as tightly. The years of separation, the weight of unspoken words, all seemed to dissolve in that heartfelt embrace. "I missed you too," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. In that moment, their bond was reaffirmed, a testament to the enduring strength of their friendship.

Ray's consciousness delved into the recesses of his memories, transporting him to a cherished chapter of his childhood. The surroundings transformed, and he found himself amidst the innocence of youth, where laughter flowed freely and dreams knew no bounds.

Before him, a young boy and girl raced through a sun-drenched park, their laughter trailing behind them like music in the air. Ray watched with a mix of fondness and amusement, his own attempts to catch up with them resulting in inevitable tumbles onto the grass.

Soon, his two friends, the boy and the girl, rushed to his side, concern etched across their faces. Tenderly, they helped Ray back to his feet, their actions a testament to the bond they shared. The girl, a younger version of Max, shot him a playful grin, while the boy, his childhood companion, patted his back reassuringly.

Seated on a weathered park bench, the trio engaged in carefree banter, their youthful energy weaving an unbreakable tapestry of camaraderie. Ray, a mischievous smile on his lips, playfully teased Max about something, and she retorted with a light-hearted comment, prompting an impromptu playful scuffle between them.

As their laughter filled the air, their friend who stood apart observed them with a gentle smile. Interrupting their friendly tussle, he posed a question that carried the weight of untold dreams, "What do you guys want to become when you grow up?" The inquiry lingered, pregnant with aspirations.

Max's eyes glimmered with resolve, and she spoke with unwavering determination, "I want to be a warrior, using my powers to aid the needy, to heal and protect." Ray followed suit, his tone firm, "I aspire to become the strongest, shielding you both from any threat. I can't bear the thought of losing either of you."

Their other friend's response was different, his voice carrying a quiet strength born from unspoken dedication. "I don't harbor grand ambitions like that," he confessed, his gaze distant. "I just want to keep her safe, no matter what."

The scene shifted, and Ray's perspective transitioned to a hospital room. The vibrant park was replaced by the sterile surroundings of a medical facility. There, the trio stood by a bed, their expressions a mixture of worry and heartache.

On the bed lay the girl who held a special place in their hearts, connected to machines monitoring her condition. Their friend, standing between Ray and Max, found tears streaming down his face. Emotion choked his words as he gazed at the girl who meant so much to him. The weight of his unspoken vow to protect her was palpable.

The scene shifted back to the present, within the classroom where Ray and Max stood. The intensity of their reunion hung in the air as they embraced, a cascade of emotions weaving a tapestry of shared memories and long-awaited moments. Amidst the warmth of their hug, Max's voice broke the silence.

With a mix of curiosity and concern, she questioned, "Ray, where did you acquire these incredible powers? How did you become connected to these spirits?" Her eyes bore into his, seeking answers that had eluded them for so long.

As their conversation unfolded, a new threat loomed on the horizon. Unbeknownst to them, a group of masked men were converging on the classroom from all corners of the college. Their footsteps echoed with purpose as they closed in, their intent ominous and clear.

However, the situation within the classroom was already dire. Ray's body bore the toll of the powerful blow he had received from the rhino man, and the shattered window was a testament to the chaos that had unfolded. His injuries left him on the brink, his consciousness teetering at the edge of darkness.

With a voice weakened to a mere whisper, Ray responded to Max's question, his words infused with a resolute determination. "At present, I am possessed by the spirit of the Blue Dragon," he managed to convey. His confession hung in the air, a revelation that held profound implications for their shared journey.

But the toll of the battle was undeniable. The strain of the encounter, coupled with the severity of his injuries, proved too much for Ray to bear. With a final effort, he spoke those words before succumbing to unconsciousness, his form growing still as his consciousness slipped into the embrace of darkness.

As Ray's consciousness faded and his body fell limp, Julie's quick instincts kicked in. Without a second thought, she rushed to his side, cradling his head gently in her lap. Her hands trembled as they held onto him, worry etched across her face. Max, standing nearby, watched the scene unfold with a mixture of amazement and realization. Before she could fully process her thoughts, she interrupted herself, her attention brought back to the urgency of Ray's condition.

Julie's voice, tinged with concern and a hint of disbelief, whispered, "Are you...?" But the urgency of the situation snapped her back to reality, and she refocused on Ray's well-being. Placing her hand on his chest, she channeled her energy, a soft glow emanating from her palm as she attempted to send healing energy into his body.

The scene then shifted outside the classroom, where a group of masked men rushed toward the entrance, armed and determined. Their footsteps echoed with a sense of impending danger as they arrived at the classroom door, ready to confront whatever resistance awaited them.

Inside the classroom, Jenny's anger blazed like a wildfire. With a fierce and determined expression, she rose from her seat, her aura flaring around her in a display of power. Her eyes held a steely resolve as she extended her hands, summoning her energy and forming a weapon. In a breathtaking display, a sword composed of water materialized in her grasp, its fluid form glinting with a dangerous light.

With a voice that carried both anger and determination, she addressed the intruders, "I won't let any of you escape the consequences of your actions." Her grip tightened on the water sword, her energy focused and her resolve unshakeable. The tension in the room was palpable as the stage was set for a showdown between Jenny and the approaching masked men.

As the first masked man charged towards Jenny with a weapon in hand, her movements were like lightning. With a speed that seemed impossible to track, she swung her water sword with incredible precision. The sword sliced through the air faster than a jet, leaving a trail of shimmering water droplets in its wake. The man's attempts to defend himself were futile as the sword connected with his body, leaving a series of deep slashes in its wake. He staggered, bloodied and wounded, before collapsing to the ground.

But there was no pause in the action. The other masked men were quick to follow, their determination to overpower Jenny evident in their aggressive approach. Jenny's focus remained unwavering as she faced the onslaught. With a swift leap, she launched herself into the air, her water sword gleaming as it arced through the space.
