Ethan had always known that the world was an unforgiving place for those who couldn't protect themselves.

But learning about Mira and her unfortunate circumstances was enough to remind me just how unforgiving the world was.

“She hasn't slept in days.” Henry intoned. “Whenever she does, she ends up waking up due to having nightmares. Whatever beating Lucius handed to her, it was enough to leave her scarred mentally.”
