Ethan and John arrived at the Metro City airport only to be bombarded by security who thought that the Emperor was the one on the jet and had naturally come to pay their respects. Of course, they were disappointed when they realized it wasn't a member of the imperial family. But the journalists that were there were not at all disappointed as they understood that this in itself was a juicy story; after all, not just anyone was allowed to use the emperor's private aircraft. It wouldn't be long before rumors of Ethan getting engaged to a princess of the imperial palace would begin to spread. In any case, after escaping from the journalists who were hungry to get to the bottom of things, Ethan found Trina waiting in the lounge. After exchanging pleasantries, Ethan asked John if he would be returning, but John decided to tag along with Trina, finding no issues with that. Once that was sorted, they made their way to the Park Manor which was located on the outskirts of the city.
Taking a moment to ponder, Ethan intoned. “You know, I am curious about one thing.”“What is that?” Trina asked. “Why me?... There should be several others that are indebted to the Park family.”“They all deserted us, Ethan. The moment they found out we were weak, they left us in a heartbeat. I've tried to reach out to them, but they all turned me away, with a few of them making outrageous demands. As it is, if I had a choice, I wouldn't have approached you.”“I see.”“You are my last hope.” Trina intoned as she went on her knees. “Please, Ethan, help me with this. I promise you, I will repay you.”“Are the assets that important?” Ethan inquired. “So important that you are willing to give away everything?”“... My grandfather once told me that no matter what, the heritage of the Park cannot be forgotten. I can't let all his hard work go to waste so please, help me.” Taking a deep breath, Ethan remarked. “Give me some time to think about it.”Trina remained silent, pondering if his r
“You know even if we buy back these assets, those in charge of the auction would still end up gaining from it.” Ethan calmly remarked as he took a seat with Trina and Trina doing the same.Trina sighed. “I know, but I can't just let them go, so even if it gives them what they want, I'd happily do so.”“As you wish.” Ethan calmly remarked as he settled into his chair.Ethan found a seat for himself and Trina only to discover that the method in which the government had chosen to carry out the auction was rather unique. It involved using a black card and swiping it across a card reader placed at the side of the chair one was seated on.That way, there would be no such thing as a bidder trying to hike the price of an item unnecessarily without having the money to back it up.Just as they completed their conversation, the auctioneer arrived with the hall lights dimming."Ladies and gentlemen, I'm pleased to see you all are here. Everyone has been given a fair chance to become owners of ama
During the time that the auction was happening, in the same building but in the top floor penthouse, the head of the Dumont family and highest shareholder in Dumont Inc., Antoine Dumont, was standing at the balcony, which afforded him a nice view of the lake next to the building. He had a wine glass in his hand and a satisfied smile on his lips and why wouldn't he be satisfied considering what was currently happening?Behind, a young man in a grey suit was standing while holding a notepad. The young man was named Gabriel and was also Antoine Dumont's third son.It was a tradition in the Dumont family to start from the most basic positions within their conglomerate and work their way up the ladder. This was meant to teach them discipline and a good business sense.Taking a sip from his glass, Antoine turned to address Gabriel while taking his seat.Crossing his legs, he regarded the young man before inquiring. "Is the auction over?""Yes, sir," Gabriel replied professionally."That's
Ethan didn't immediately reply as he scrutinized the man while Trina couldn't help but react as she glared at Antoine from underneath the veil she was wearing. To think that she was this close to the reason her grandfather had given up and her family was close to poverty. If she could, she would have already torn Antoine to shreds for his underhanded schemes. But she trusted Ethan to handle things, and so she calmed herself, quickly averting her eyes as she noticed Gabriel staring at her with a thoughtful look on his face.Meanwhile, Antoine stepped forward with a warm smile, and from his actions, He was very interested in Ethan. From his perspective, it wasn't bad to get new friends especially ones with deep pockets. After all, it was common sense that the larger the network, the more business one would have! As a businessman, Antoine was always looking to expand his circle of friends."Hello, Mr. Dumont, nice to meet you. The service I've received so far is to my satisfaction, tha
"You have a point. Alright, you can leave, I'll call after I've made a quick phone call." Antoine intoned with Gabriel replying."Yes, father."Once Gabriel left, Antoine picked up his mobile phone and began to make a few calls to some of the shareholders he was close to.Having reached a consensus with the others, Antoine dropped his mobile phone and prepared to head back to meet Ethan.***In the VIP room. After Antoine had left, Ethan had considered the possibility of an inflation on the price just to scare him away from buying it.This was something that would happen, and so, he had to make sure to convince Antoine to sell to him, or else he'd have to consider other ways to teach the Dumonts a lesson.Taking a deep breath, Ethan took out his phone and began to use it.Noticing this, Trina worriedly asked. "Are you okay?""Yeah, I'm fine," Ethan replied.Trina, however, still seemed worried as she watched him use his phone. She wondered if he had checked the current evaluation for
"Allow me to announce that Mr. Jones and I have agreed. I'll be transferring my shares in Dumont Inc. to Mr. Jones for a fee of 1 billion dollars. Mr. Luke, prepare to receive the deposit and draft an invoice. I would like the transaction to be completed right now if possible." Antoine calmly addressed Luke and Gabriel while Trina moved to sit beside Ethan. The expressions of the trio shifted at the news.Luke wasn't exactly bothered since as long as there was no reason to leave the company, and even if there was, he was a highly sought-after consultant who would be able to get into any company with his skills.Meanwhile, Trina seemed slightly excited as she understood that Ethan was successful in his plans. But then she wondered what he would do next.In any case, as long as Dumont Inc was taken out of the picture, that meant her Park Pharmaceuticals would hold a monopoly over the pharmaceutical industry in the Lumina Empire.Luke gave Ethan an account number, to which the latter qui
Antoine tried to get away but alas, his fate was already sealed the moment he fell headfirst into Ethan's trap. Before he could do so, the police arrived and within seconds, he was handcuffed and taken away with no chance of him escaping the charges.“You will pay for this, Ethan Jones!... You will pay for this!” Antoine cursed Ethan as the police drove away, leaving Ethan and Trina standing outside the auction building along with a terrified Gabriel and a worried Luke.[The Medicine god thanks you for dealing a heavy blow to the Dumont family for their crimes][You have been rewarded with his support when the time for your apotheosis arrives][You have been rewarded with Passive Skill, Personal recovery][The Divine Shard of Deception has recovered][You have gained the title, Divine Mortal][The Titans have set their sights on you]Ethan felt the cosmic gazes of those great beings which caused the Titan Heart in his inventory to react ever so slightly. His back was immediately drenc
