After repeating the name twice in the low tone without getting a response, his fear increased in a very great manner, as he could feel a sudden cold all over his body as he lost the guts to speak another word. He was now very quiet, putting his ears on the ground to check if he would hear any footsteps which he could track and believe were the footsteps of Eric and the orc. To his greatest surprise, he could not hear any footstep at all, more to even say it belongs to that of Eric nor the orc. Even the sound of the dangling sound of the chain could not be heard, so it was now obvious to him that he had been separated from Eric and the orc. Yet it was confusing to him how that was possible because he had his best in making sure that he was close to them yet his best had failed him, now he had to find his way all by himself in the dark which he could not even tell where he was coming from nor where he was heading to. Realizing he was not anywhere close to Eric, he had to increase the t
Those words were made to put fear in Eric concerning going back, but instead of fear, it started up in him the kind of courage and boldness which he was yet to confirm was really in him due to the doubts of his ability. In place of what the orc was expecting to hear. He said with so much boldness. “Now you think those are going to make me scared and refuse to go back? But I want to make it clear to you that we are going back to get Zach no matter the cost. And you are the one to lead me to him. You have led me through safe passage though I can’t see the paths we have taken to get to this point, but for you to have led me through a safe route you are going to lead me back again to Zach through safe routes and mind you, you have no say in this. So let’s get going.” The orc then burst into a brief laughter before giving him a response, “I wished this time was the same as before. It is time I told you that I have my say and the will to do whatever I want in whatever way I want it to be do
Eric definitely understood that those words were an insult to him, and that was the limit which he had warned the orc not to cross in the first place. How this was known was because as the orc finished saying those words, he did not have to say another word but saw himself stretch forth his staff as words which he knew not about to proceed out of his mouth and it was realized that those were not just mere words but magical codes that gave rise to magical spells. It was as though it was the magic he needed to perform as those words produced several fire balls that lightened up the cave portion where he had been for over thirty minutes exchanging words with the orc. With the lightening up of the cave, the orc disappeared. It was as if it had known of the fire ball and that Eric would soon perform such magic so after saying those words, it flee for its life knowing fully well that once the cave is lightened, Eric would be able to see clearly and if he by chance sees the paths which it p
As he walked some distance into the direction which he had taken, he was not having the thoughts to change direction again because he had come before several turns yet had not taken any. Thus he felt it was time he took one. But he was confused on which direction to take since his heart began to play games on him again. He would take a few steps left, yet would stop and turn to the opposite direction, taking some steps leftwards again. He continued like this in confusion for a good time to the point that he even thought of going backwards. Through all the thoughts coming into his mind on where to continue, the only direction that was not coming into his mind was to proceed with the direction which he had been walking towards for the past two hours. And for the fact that this direction was not an option coming into his mind, he knew of a surety that he needed to change paths, but which direction was the problem.. Due to the deliberation in his heart all to no avail, he thought maybe w
With these words coming back into his heart, he now began to believe them as he concluded that what he was pursuing was none of the beings he had thought it to be. Yet a question kept resounding in his heart, "if that is a terrifying monster as the orc had said, why then is it running away from me?" The question that came into his heart was one that is bent on making him continue in pursuit of whatever was making the noise which he was following. But he had to rebuke the voice that was asking him that question since he knew it was trying to lead him to his death and death was never on his list at the moment. Since he had been brought back to the spot where he got separated from the orc and made the magic spell, he now knew what direction to take if he really wanted to meet Zach again. Since he had gone forward before encountering the noise and it had led him back to that spot through the right twice, he knew that the only option left was to go backwards as there was no route at his l
Coming some distance away from the spot where he encountered those troubles, he came before a parting in the route of the cave of which from his experience so far and the little he observed from the looks of the cave, that there was going to be a lot more diversions and parting in the two routes before him. So it was another difficult choice that had been placed before him, of which he had to think critically and logically, considering every possible outcome that he could come across in each of the paths which he must definitely choose one out of them. He was really angry that he had to face such a situation again as he said to himself. “Not again…!” Though he was fucking worried about where to follow, but he it did not take long before he did the needful which was to call out the name of Zachary, facing both directions that he had to pick from, at least Zach should hear him calling this time around and answer him because without a doubt he was closer to him than the first time sinc
Coming very close to the place of the sound, reverse was the case, instead helping the creature that had been making the deceitful sound, he was knocked down by the creature only to raise his face and see that it was the orc who led them into the cave that was calling out for him. “Youuu…..!!!!!” Zachery cried in regret of falling for its trick. While anger filled the face of Zach, the orc burst into an uncontrollable laughter. It was very cheerful and annoying that Zach felt like striking the orc but that could not be possible since it was the orc who had struck him first and it was so hard that it had to take a couple of minutes or so to recover and deliver his own strike. Funny enough, the orc uttered some words which he did not know what they meant because he was not Eric who had the ability to understand what they were saying. The orc on its part was saying those words with the mindset that Eric had thought Zach how to understand and speak its language because during the perio
Back inside the cave where Eric was still searching for Zach with the lamp in his hands, but at this point he had stopped calling out his name since no one was answering his call and he was quite tired of shouting Zach’s name. While he continued with this search, the orc who had run away from Zach a few minutes ago and was still running thinking that Zach had pursued it to catch it, came to cross paths with Eric as they both hit themselves and fell to the ground in the opposite direction. Seeing that it was Eric that it had come to hit again, it hurriedly got to its feet to run away from him since it knew that it was also in danger of meeting Eric again. But Eric would not make that mistake again, though he did not get up immediately, he failed to let that be the reason why he should allow that creature to escape again. As it jumped on its feet to run off again, he instantly said with a commanding tone as he stretched his staff. “Come back here!!” Instantly, at the sound of his com
On Eric's side, he didn't expect that question to be asked, but since it was asked, he could not answer it, so he simply said. "Don't worry baby, everything will be fine. The police are there to protect you and your aunt Lauren." "From who?" She asked again. "From some very bad people." He answered, in order for her to ask another question, he added. "Can you give your aunt the phone?" "Eric, what's going on?" Lauren asked as soon as he received the phone from Jodie. "I promise I'll explain everything to you when I am bad. Just be rest assured that I am not the one they are protecting you from. It's very complicated but I promise you will understand after I've explained everything to you." "Okay bro." "Please be safe and keep Jodie safe." Eric pleaded as they said goodbye. **** Towards evening the next day, Eric Claus and Chase Stevens were called to the police station by the detective and on their arrival, the detective took them to meet a new prisoner under their custody. "M
It took almost over five hours before the detective in charge of interrogating the suspect came out to meet Eric Claus and Chase Stevens in the police station. "I thought you were asked to leave?" he asked, to my surprise. His question called their attention, so they looked up in shock but without fear since they had committed no offense by staying. "Well," Chase began as he searched for the right words to say that would make the detective understand their reason for not going home as they were asked to. "We just couldn't leave." he said, still unable to find the best words. Eric had to help him out at this point even though he was not totally in support of them staying there for that long. "Were you people able to force the truth out of him? I just can't go home knowing that someone wants me dead and probably why?" That was a good reason to defend and justify their refusal to leave the station and the detective understood quite well so he did have to press further. "Well, you two
“Just before you woke up,” Chase began, “He told Lauren and I that he would be removing you from life support because his test showed that you would never wake up again. But upon coming to see you in the ward, we found you awake, that is to say he has found out that you would be waking up any time soon so he wanted to prevent it from happening. When I asked him how it was possible that someone who he presumed to never wake up again was awake and sound, he said he didn’t know and would do some research that would explain it scientifically. He still has not given any response with the claim that he was still doing his research with some of his colleagues.” Now Eric was getting a clear understanding of something that he never put into consideration before now. It was now clear to him why he had to leave the world of Palind, letting them complete the fight which was supposed to be concluded before his departure. So he had no reason to doubt the words and suspicions of Chase. “In that cas
The doctor ran another test on Eric Claus early the next morning to confirm whether he was fully fit to leave the hospital and still his results were positive that he did not see any other reason to keep Eric there in the hospital. So he had to break the good news about his discharge so he could prepare to go home. Towards the evening hours of the day, Chase was there with Lauren and Jodie to pick Eric from the hospital and take home. While Lauren and Jodie were with Eric in the room putting together his stuff for departure, Chase went to see the doctor. After a knock on the office door, he was asked to come in and the doctor was instantly eclipsed with shock. Immediately he saw that it was Chase who had come to his office. He knew they were done with all formalities already and he shouldn’t be there again. “Oh, Mr. Chase, is it you again? Hope all is well?” the doctor said while trying to hide his freight. “Yes,” Chase walked up to the desk and with an eye gesture he asked if he c
When he came into the room Eric was still gusting and laughing with his sister and daughter, Chase did not intend to disrupt that moment knowing how much such a moment felt for the family. “I am happy to see such smiles on your faces,” Chase said, “Permission to share at this moment?” “Sure you are free.” Eric answered with gladness. The fun moment lasted for a couple of hours, until it was getting late, so Lauren had to take Jodie home since they came right from school. “Jodie, I guess we should get going now.” “No, I want to spend more time with my dad.” Jodie refused because she didn’t want that moment to end. She was also scared that her father would go into a coma again. “Come on… you will have the time you want with him, he is not going anywhere. Besides, you haven’t gotten home since you closed from school today and you still have homework and school tomorrow.” Lauren gave her some reasons why they have to go home. Eric was quite happy to hear that Jodie has been going to
Due to the looks on both Lauren and Chase’s face, the doctor could tell what they were thinking but he could not concur with it. “That is not possible.” He opened the door and to his greatest surprise, it was exactly as he had read from the faces of Chase and Lauren, so he froze at the entrance. Seeing the manner in which the doctor became static, Chase and Lauren looked into the room, lo and behold, it was Eric Claus awake and talking to his daughter Jodie Eric. They too could not move for a moment and were short of words to say until Jodie saw them standing static at the door post and said. “Aunt Lauren, look, dad is awake.” “Of course he is…” Lauren replied as he slowly took some steps closer to the bed Eric was lying on. Eric then turned to the door and saw both his boss and the doctor. He was surprised to see Chase Stevens there instead of being in the company. He knew quite well what happened to him and did not need much explanation from them, he only asked one question perta
The monitor attached to Eric Claus began to beep loudly, alerting the nurses and medical personnel nearby to hurriedly come check on him and find out what was the cause of the sudden beeping of the monitor. The first nurse that ran in noticed his temperature was burning beyond normal and it was something beyond her skills so she rushed out to call the doctor in charge of his treatment while another nurse that followed after her tried to stabilize the situation pending the doctor’s arrival. In a few minutes the doctor came in to check on him and saw that it was more than a normal burning for someone in his condition, and something he hasn’t seen before throughout his entire career, but that was not going to prevent from running some quick test on him. The tests were all reporting strange feedback as they stabilized him with an injection to stop the burning. Soon he began to sweat which was still strange to the professionals. “He is dying,” The doctor gave the only explanation he co
After the conversation and argument had come to an end by those words of Eric, the four of them came out of the room to meet General Aaron Gordon, General Morgan Elliot and Prince Reece Cole who were waiting for them outside. “Let’s move out.” King Luca gave the command which they have all been waiting for all these while. Afterwards they got their horses and led the soldiers out of the city of Griffins. Harris had not taken his mind off from what Eric told him, so he was still waiting to hear the outcome of Eric’s discussion with his father. So as they headed for the city of Ironbrook, he rushed forward, coming close to his father and asked in a low tune since he also thought it to be a secret. “Father, how did it go?” Zach’s mind was no longer on that, he did not perceive Harris to keep thinking of that, so he asked back as he looked into his son’s eyes curiously. “How did what go?” Still wanting to keep it a secret, Harris did not answer that question with words but with an ey
After Harris was out of sight, Zachary Hawkins changed the pretentious discussion. “The King will now see you Eric.” “Okay.” Eric said as they both head to meet with King Luca Cole. In a couple of minutes they were in the king’s presence and Eric said. “Your majesty, you asked to speak with me.” “Yes,” Luca turned towards him. “We are ready to move out, so we want to know if you are set.” “Ermmm….” Eric stammered because he had not told the King about his soon departure and as Zach had advised, it was wise for him to tell the king that he would soon be leaving the country Palind back to his world. he struggled to get the right words to break the news he had for Luca but his facial expression already foretold that what he was trying to say was not something pleasant to be heard. “It’s okay, Eric, you can spit it out and stop bordering on how I will take it.” Luca encouraged him to speak and stopped holding his words. With the readiness and willingness of King Luca Cole to hear wh
