Chills ran down her spine as almost all able-bodied adults brusquely handled the fretting bodies intent on attacking the healthy ones. Her eyes misted with unshed tears as she tried her best not to break into pieces for the sorrow she felt for these afflicted ones.

Spurs of haze clouded Betts’s vision as she opened her eyes from her long nap. She was left in the library again for the nth time by her group of friends, the ones she made after entering grade nine. They did leave a note in front of her, on top of her bag, saying that the study period is ongoing, but they figured staying in this place was boring. So, they left.

Lifting her head while traces of sleep still lingered on her lips and open notebook, silence flooded her senses as she saw the library’s bright florescent light fill her newly opened eyes.
