Chapter 22 (part 2)

Witnessing people making love was not the first awkward moment Bernice has taken in through her adolescence and teen years. There was more of that due to her sibling’s activities with whoever current partner they have. She’s used to it to the point she can easily dismiss them. It’s different though if it’s two people she knew, one for only a moment and the other since years ago, in a mindset driven by the death of both her friends.

This wasn’t the time to see much but it didn’t disgust nor fascinate her, just the utter awkward feeling of being there. Though, soon, it subsides when she looked at her hands that quickly quivered without incite. She heard the soldier who was assigned to care for her and went back to his side.

“Hey, avoid going anywhere. We don’t know if those monsters would rise again like the god-awful zombies.” He said as he escorted her to one of the jeeps. “You’ve gone through enough, so it’s okay to rest with the others.”
