Nux woke up with a terrible headache and a ringing noise in his ears. He felt like he was being pounded on the head constantly, and chimes and cymbals were playing by his ears. Coupled with the fact that his body was badly burnt from the fire explosion, he didn't feel like getting up, but he didn't have a choice. Time seemed to pass at a fast pace. His body got better quickly, and soon, he opened his eyes.'How many times have I passed out in this world already?' Nux mused to himself. 'Five or six?... ah screw this!'Suddenly his eyes widened, and he threw out an aggressive punch, causing a bang to resound in the hall.A creature looming over him coughed out blood while backing away swiftly.Nux scrambled to his feets and raised his fists, ready for battle, but on second thought he looked around warily, and scanned his perimeter. He still remembered the large hall where he saw the Dragon, and also how his body autopiloted and jumped off a metal beam hanging overhead, right atop the
Nux's Soul Book floated before him. It's pages flipping open and settling on a page."What's the hell!" Nux silently exclaimed. He was finding it a bit difficult to believe what he was seeing. He stared at the doodle, taking in all it's features before flipping the page open.On the next page he saw a string of words written in an unknown language, but somehow, he understood it perfectly. "Fireball?" Nux whispered. "And Fire Immunity?" He gazed at the words for a second, before it all suddenly clicked in his head."Damn!!" Nux exclaimed. He finally understood what had happened with his Soul Book and the Dragon. His only spell, Steal, was actually an overpowered spell if used rightly. He had stolen the Soul of the Dragon and therefore gained it's abilities, almost like getting a new Beast Soul.Just as great as it was, so also was it very dangerous. If anyone knew that he could steal Beast's Souls, then he would be feared, and there was a high probability that he would be killed, or
Nux gave a report to a big bellied man, checked around some more, while secretly watching his stalker, before he eventually left.During his short time in the Mission Hall though, he had come to learn about some of the inner workings in the academy.Like missions for example, he learnt that there was a set of students who monopolized the best missions for themselves, to get the best from the Academy. They were known as Nobles, the sons and daughters of anyone who was a Baron, or of a higher position. Nux hadn't met anybody of this Nobles, though he wished to, so that he could compare their strength to his. Beside that, he wanted to hear those cliche lines that would make one cringe, give them some face slapping, and knock their ego down a peg.He didn't know why he was having this weird wishes, but he knew they were going to happen, sooner or later, and he didn't know just how right he was. Nux also learnt about Star Rankings in the Mission Hall, what it entailed and it's various u
"Prince Naveen huh?" Nux muttered. "So you still have eyes on me after all this while?"Nux had let the students run off after getting the information he needed. He had thought that Prince Naveen's influence wouldn't reach the Academy, but it seemed he was wrong about that. 'For all I know, he might have other people watching me.' Nux ruminated. 'I need to be more careful and vigilant of who I keep around me. Anyone could be his eyes and ears.'The Medallion on his neck vibrated, and a few words played in his head. Nux had found out a way to switch the loud alarm to a more subtle vibration, which helped him. He got up, and his frown deepened. "Telekinesis Class? But I don't have Telekinesis." He said evenly. "Let me just go. I shouldn't skip classes too much."He went to take a quick shower before he left his room.He hadn't seen Moby since he came back from the ruin and was pleased. He might have torched that guy if he actually met him. Nux passed through the Academy with slow st
Nux eyes shot wide open and he scrambled to his feets. Commotion spread like a wild fire, pun intended, and the students began to rush outside the building. Teacher Verone took action immediately, and a wave of Telekinesis surged, blanketing the flames and quenching some. Nux stood outside, watching the smoke billow out of the windows and door. He knew he was the cause of the fire, but he didn't actually care. The students were frustrating anyway, so if a few got burnt, then they deserved it. The flames burning were fierce, but Teacher Verone did well to put it out in due time. He walked out of the smoke coolly and flashed a bright smile. Some girls directly fainted from that gesture, while some even began to touch themselves. Nux was absolutely disgusted, and wanted nothing more than to leave that place as soon as possible. He needed a distraction. Suddenly, an explosion rocked the building, flinging everyone off their feets. Teacher Verone who was closest to the door, cut acro
"Did the Rune become a ball of flame?..." Nux asked himself. "Or was the ball of flame just the manifestation of the Rune in the real world?"Nux raised a hand, and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "I'll just ask Teacher Clark during the next class."He dismissed the ball of blue flames and pressed his hand against the ground to stand up. He pushed lightly, and he was up on his feets. The Telekinesis Class building was still on fire, as smoke could be seen rising up in the distance, probably because the Rune still hadn't been found. Nux didn't plan on going back there, so he turned around and began to walk towards his treehouse. As he moved slowly through the winding pathways, he began to think thoroughly about all the gains he had made recently. The pull was what had brought about him finding out the power of his spell, Steal, and giving him great rewards. And since he now understood how the spell worked, he could get stronger at a faster pace. He wouldn't be leaving the Academy a
Nux turned around and froze. Every other thing around him was thrown to the back of his mind, and he completely focused on what was in front of him, not intentionally, but through a subconscious instinct. On the sand, just a few feets away from him, the towering form of a blue and white scaled Dragon could be seen. It's luminescent scales were beautifully carved, and glowed with incandescent lights. It appeared like each piece was intricately crafted by master artisans, as there were no scales with the tiniest blemish, crack or scratch on it. The Dragon's main horns were tall, and bent backwards slightly. They were so thick and long, they could be mistaken for twin bone-white spires, and with the addition of two more shorter horns curving backwards on each side of it's face, there were six horns in total. It's snout featured a nostril as big as an average hut, breathing out hot air as it slept, it's eyes were closed and fluttered from time to time as if wanting to open, and it h
"Nobles sure are pricks." Nux thought when he walked through the small crowd. There were those with superiority complex so great, they didn't spare him more than a single glance, while the major ones wanted to exert their dominance in some way. Their stares bore down on him, and some even activated some spells that attacked his psyche. He could have dismissed them easily had they been used one at a time, but when up to ten people stacked their spells and attacked him at the same time, it proved to be effective, albeit barely. He pushed through the assault with a calm expression, and branded each and every one of their faces in his mind. He would repay them ten folds. The Martial Hall was big with a spacious interior, and had the style of a modern Earth Dojo. The dark brown wooden floor boards didn't creak as he walked, and it gave off a smooth shine, almost as if it was polished.A Shoji separated the room into two. It had flowery patterns as it's designs, and had soft light coming
Nux could see several Red/Black Runes floating around the his right arm. They moved in accordance to his arms movement, as if they were attached to it in someway. It should be known that Nux and the Shark King were both standing with their hands raised up. One was pushing and the other was pulling, and because of this, Nux hadn't seen his arm in time and didn't notice those Runes until now. 'Those are definitely Flames, I'm sure of it!' Nux claimed. 'But what Variant are they?'Nux's mind spun, and his thoughts flowed from one point to another. He thought back to how he had gotten the Arm Of Finality to actually be his arm. Natalie had explained to him that his body was filled with a red fog, and was deconstructed, before being rebuilt. He thought back to how his shirts were destroyed when he tried to put them on, and he thought back to the Apostle of Destruction's rusty Red armor. 'Are they perhaps, Variant Destruction/Fire Runes?' As soon as Nux had this thoughts, the Runes arou
Nux slid between the Shark King's leg and popped back up to his feets, then he turned around and kicked at the spot behind it's knees with force. Though it might be heavy, sturdy and incredibly strong, weakness were still weakness. The Shark King, the name Nux had decided to call it, buckled from the kick and almost went on its knees, but before that happened, it straightened itself back up like a spring, and smashed the ground behind it's body with it's tailNux weaved out of the way and punched at its knees again, aiming for the same leg. This process repeated itself until Nux felt that his plan was ready. The creature, in it's rage, spat out flames again, and this time, Nux let it hit him. The Shark King seeing Nux fall to his knees got more confident, and it's took heavy steps forward, making sure Nux was at the hottest parts of the flame. 'A little more...' Nux thought, waiting for the Shark King to get closer. Nux's Fire Immunity was passive, so he couldn't turn it off...
The Shark Queen glowed brightly as the Red and Gold rocks entered her body. The light turned so blinding Nux had to squint his eyes. The phenomenon occuring was one he hadn't seen before, and he therefore didn't know if it was dangerous or not. He considered retreating and reporting his sightings to Master Joe, but something in his mind was telling him to stay, and so he did. The Shark Queen let out a loud noises one last time and suddenly exploded. The explosion wasn't destructive, and the shockwaves, flames and rocks that shot out did little to no damage.Nux stood all through the explosion, only his pants and long black hair ruffling while he stood unmoving. When the explosion was almost over, all the particles, rocks, flames and whatnot that were pushed back by the explosion suddenly paused midair, as if time was stopped, and they began to flow in reverse, going back towards the origin of the explosion. Now Nux was truly intrigued. The fire first condensed to form a humanoid f
Nux stayed shocked for just a second before he acted out, punching out and shooting flames around. The Orange flames lighted up the cave for a second, and he was able to see around, giving Nux a vague idea of where he was. He wasn't a hundred percent sure, but he wasn't in the Beast's belly yet, and he also wasn't in it's mouth. He didn't understand how that was, but all Beasts came with their own unique mutations, quirks and mind-blowing Abilities. Nux, after falling for some seconds, finally landed on a soft squishy part. Goosebumps erupted over his skin as his phobia for soft, wet and squishy things came up. He reigned in the urge to step away from the place he stood on and clenched his fists. His arms lit up with Orange flames, and he raised them up, pointing it around and looking for a clue that could help him escape from the place he was easily, without blowing the Beast up. He noticed, after a while of searching, that the ground was pulsating, further agitating his phobia.
Nux knew that he wasn't fast enough, and the terrain wasn't to his advantage. His opponents were aerial too, further worsening the situation. "Doesn't mean I'll loose though." He acknowledged. He came to a grinding halt and turned around in one smooth motion, he faced his palms towards each other and placed them by his side, close to his hip. Fire began to charge in between them, and as the birds got closer, he compressed the flames that had gathered and threw his palms out, unleashing a beam right at them. Large swathes of them dropped to the ground, dead, but a large number of them remained. Nux didn't slow down after that first move and immediately attacked again. His punched out, and a short burst of flame went out and killed some birds again. The birds were weak individually, and their strength lied in their large Numbers, so each burst of flame took out at least two to three birds. Some seconds later, Nux realised that his efficiency was lacking, and his Mana was draining
"Now that you've successfully learnt the Spell, I want you to perfect it and be able to apply in battle, so keep casting the Spell until you run out of Mana. In the meantime... Natalie come out!" Master Joe called out. It took a few seconds, but Natalie finally came out shyly, her head lowered, and her hand behind her back. She had been hiding there for quite some time now, and she had been spotted by Master Joe. "Your training would begin now, and I want you to give your all." Master Joe said and went ahead to begin teaching Nux and Natalie from that day onward. Nux was taught some of the Spells he had purchased from the Limitless Sea Academy together with Crazed Arrows, the Spell he had won from Gregory. He was also taught some Techniques that could be used in hand to hand combat, and he easily learnt them.Nux didn't slack off for a second. Though this period was supposed to be a time for him to rest, he didn't neglect his training either. And so time passed, and Nux was able t
"Rising Pillar seems like a really good start for your training." Master Joe said, a toothy grin appearing on his face. Nux knew this was trouble, he had been with Master Joe long enough to know when he was up to something. "Lets start with the basic." He jumped to his feets and dragged Nux outside. They moved through the small town they were in, left through the gates and entered the forest ahead. There they found an open area they could stay in and began their training. Aegis hovered fifty meters above their heads and began to spin on his axis, generating Mana in the process and forming a dome that covered the surrounding hundred meters."Rising Pillar is quite a simple Spell to be honest, and the aim of the Spell is to create a pillar of fire beneath your target. But first..."Master Joe went ahead and performed a movement sequence, then he suddenly stomped his foot on the ground, and out of the ground, five meters away from him, a pillar of Blue and Green energy rose up, shovin
Nux and Natalie traveled together with Master Joe, as Nux was forced to call him. Their journey was purposely made long and smooth, perhaps by Master Joe's will, or for another reason. Either way, Nux enjoyed it. They made some stops at Inns and Taverns to eat and clean themselves up, and this routine seemed to calm Nux's mind. It felt just like a holiday break, giving him the necessary rest he didn't know he needed. It wasn't up to a month since he joined the Limitless Sea Academy, hoping that he would learn a lot before leaving for the Heavenly Brutes Academy. But he ended up not learning exactly what he wanted and instead had to deal with annoying people most of the time, Nobles to be precise. He had learnt a little bit of Inscriptions and Enchantment, and he had a Quill and Inkwell, but... he hadn't had time to learn Inscribing itself, all he knew how to do was control Runes he had affinity for, and stamp them, which was very dangerous. He had missed most of the classes, not i
Nux spotted Natalie and walked over. He placed a hand on her shoulders and flashed her a brilliant smile."Are you okay?" Nux asked. She hesitated for a moment before finally nodding her head. Nux's smile widened and he proceeded to ask her what really happened while he was passed out. Natalie told how Teacher Joseph had come in and saved him, defeated the Apostle of Destruction easily while protecting him at the same time. Nux was surprised by what he heard, and he felt that something wasn't right."You said he saw you right, but he didn't say anything to you?" Nux asked. "Yes.""That's strange, does he not know?" Nux soliloquized. He didn't think for long and turned back to Natalie with a serious expression on his face. "You know you can't stay here anymore right?""Yes, and that's why she'll be going with you." Nux and Natalie looked up, and they found Teacher Joseph hovering right above them. "I assume you're ready to leave at this moment, No?" Teacher Joseph asked, going s
