Fred snorted as he watched the head-on brawl, "It appears the battle may be coming to an end pretty soon; we should move out to our position and retreat!"

Rickey frowned in confusion and asked, "wh-what does that mean? Are we not going to engage in the battle against the wolves?"

"Engage the wolves? Are you mad from the high adrenaline rush in your system? We could both die in that madness down below us. Although it grieves me to lose a subordinate like Curtis, my hands are bound for my survival,'' Fred replied without pause or hesitation.

That statement baffled Rickey, and his eyes widened from shock. He stammered, "So we’re going to abandon Curtis here between the bloodthirsty beasts. But why? We could have taken him with us and left those slaves here to fight instead."
