' Is this lady possessed? ' Jerouch thought with perplexity as he followed the figure of Karah who was walking ahead.
' First, she unclothed me, then she wanted to kill me, and now training? Like really? 'Jerouch wasn't offended though, in fact, he was rather elated from the inside as he saw the system notification.[Quest- Learn from a veteran][Reward]All passive skills level up'' Hey! '' Karah clicked her fingers as Jerouch almost bumped into her. '' What's occupying your mind that much? '' She asked with furrowed eyebrows.'' Ah, nothing important, I'm only looking forward to the training. '' He lied with a cheeky face. If he saw how unreal his face was right now, he might burst out laughing blowing his cover.'' Um. '' Karah nodded and continued walking. They were now deep in the forest and Jerouch was a bit tense. However, whenever he remembered that he was together with this angel from hell, relief washed over him.'' At least that monster from back then should be very powerful too right? And if we don't venture too deep, she should be able to handle the monsters around here right? '' He kept asking himself.Jerouch was no hero that didn't fear death. If any perilous situation arose, he would be the first to vanish. He wouldn't even care that it was a lady he left behind.' Damn, I don't even know her name. ' Jerouch laughed in his mind.Eventually, Jerouch's worries finally surfaced as their path was blocked by a behemoth. The creature's amber-glowing eyes rested on them and its long and thick tongue drooled with viscous saliva. It stood seven meters tall and its silky dark fur stood erect.'' Hoowwll. '' It howled which made Jerouch gulp.He looked at the giant wolf and then switch his gaze back to Karah with a knowing look.'' Courting death. '' Karah muttered in a flat tone and swung her chain which appeared in her hands. The chain twirled in mid-air like a flying snake and the sharp end charged at the wolf.'' Poochoo. '' Followed by a loud howl was all Jerouch's senses could capture. He had seen Karah wave the chain, but he could not even follow its trajectory. He only saw the chain pierce the skull of the wolf and then a crashing sound as the wolf collapsed after karah pulled back the chain.Jerouch, again, gulped. However, his mouth was too dry and his heart was about to jump out.' This girl is a menace. ' He reminded himself.' Just what rank is she? ' He wondered.'' Here should be okay. '' Karah called out and turned to face Jerouch.' I'm even more confused with that…is he supposed to be this weak? But how… huh. ' She breathed in and out to clear her thoughts before proceeding with her plans.'' I know it's rude to ask, however, for training's sake, what class of warlock are you? '' She asked, her soft tone not hiding her expectations.'' ??? ''Jerouch's face went blank after hearing that question.' How am I supposed to know when all the system shows are question marks? ' He asked no one, particularly in his head.'' Um? '' Karah raised her eyebrows after waiting for what seemed forever without getting a response.'' Ah. '' Jerouch started scratching his head in embarrassment. '' Actually, I have no idea. '''' Sorry? '' Karah said without even realizing it. Her eyes were wide open in disbelief. She could not bring herself to accept that a warlock could exist without knowing his class. She began to have serious doubts but she decided to give it one last push. '''' Fine '' She exhaled in frustration '' What spells or abilities do you have? ''Jerouch contemplated albeit concerning this topic. He knew he could copy others' abilities, however, he could not mention that to her.The system and the bizarre ability solely belonged to him, he wasn't ready to let others catch wind of that, not when he was still weak. They would only hunt him down till they knew about his secret.'' Here. '' He stretched his right palm forward and activated the fire arrow skills, then the wind blade.Since she had already seen those two skills, there was no harm in showing them again.'' Oh? '' Karah had an intrigued look seeing those two spells, and she nodded.'' Double affinity, a mage that is… not bad. '' She again nodded.'' Double affinity? What if I show you all the skills hehe... '' He giggled in his head.'' The first rule of a mage is that they do not engage in physical combat. '' She made sure to make a stern emphasis towards the end of her statement as she remembered the scene where Jerouch punched someone to death.' That's weird though. ' She thought.'' And the most important thing to a mage is their mana. '' She paused to see if Jerouch was following before she continued.'' Mana s important to every warlock. However, the mage class is one of those classes that heavily rely on mana. '''' So what is mana itself? '' karah folded her arms on her chest with a relaxed look.Jerouch's eyes perked hearing that question. He had made a wild guess, but expanding his knowledge was even better. He wanted to have a thorough understanding of this warlock world. He knew it would take time but wasn't that the intriguing part of it all?'' Mana is sometimes called the energy of origin. Some call it the mystic energy, while others call it the energy of existence, the source of magic. ''Jerouch nodded as he got immersed in Karah's teaching ensuring not to miss out on anything.'' It all comes down to one thing, no matter what theory one believes in. Mana is essential to everything in the world. It's the energy source for magic. It's essential for flora and fauna, and even the dungeon monsters. '' Karah paused and spread her arms out.'' With keen sense, you can feel the flow of mana in the environment and also inside yourself. Mana is not only limited to that though, potions, magic weapons, runic symbols, talismans, monster cores and even the food we consume are all related to mana. Perhaps, that's why some people believe it to be the energy of existence itself. '' She concluded. She felt elated seeing Jerouch's sincere interest in this topic. Most warlocks don't like to delve into theories like this. They preferred the practical application of mana and showing off strength which was the next thing they were going to do.Jerouch's ears burned with anticipation as he watched Karah make some weird hand movements.'' Learning how to control your mana should be your priority. '' Karah muttered, waving her chain while twirling along with it in sync. '' Too much mana and you will drain yourself quickly, and too little mana and you will get an undesirable effect. '' She spoke at the top of her voice jumping into the air, making an upward slash. Space vibrated and Jerouch could feel his visceral trembling. Just her casual waves were causing so much disturbance. ' Is there something like that? '' Jerouch thought. ' All he knew was to activate a skill and the system would take over the rest. Some parts of him were telling him not to be overly reliant on the system but he shrugged. Who was he even kidding, the system gave him that power, without it, he was just a vegetable. Not that he felt great about it but duh, who cared? ' I can't imagine the pain of tracking and controlling the right amount of mana fo
Two F rank wolves jumped at Jerouch from his ten o'clock and two o'clock directions aiming to lock him in a pincer attack. He kicked the ground and flew backwards, landing softly on his right leg. He raised his head and gazed at the two attackers who smashed the ground with their paws. Before he could relax though, another F rank wolf approached him from the left, his mouth wide open, aiming to rip Jerouch apart. '' Fire arrows. '' He muttered, activating the skill quickly. Three arrows blazing with red flame each reaching a metre long manifested in the air and struck the three wolves. One of the wolves had its left forelimb ripped apart and he rolled on the ground after losing his balance. The second arrow pierced the second wolf's belly, while the other arrow roasted the third wolf's eye. Using dash, he appeared close to his targets and punched each of them smashing their skulls. '' Three down. '' He jumped in the air dodging a fast figure that approached him abruptly. '' W
Jerouch slumped down heavily, huffing and puffing with an exhausted expression. He could feel his throat crying for water, and he swallowed the little saliva his mouth could barely spare for him. Looking around, he saw corpses of different sizes surrounding him, and despite the tired look, he had a feeling of satisfaction. He had killed the nine E rank wolves, and they collectively gave him four hundred experience, with the little from the F rank wolves, he had four fifty exp. He hadn't advanced yet, but he was close. Furthermore, he clenched his fist as the spirit of strength washed over him. He turned his head and saw Karah coming to his position, and some ideas began to form in his head. '' What if I asked her to weaken larger monsters, so I could get the last hit? '' His eyes glistened. Even his heartbeat was pumping faster with excitement. He had tested this theory previously when he was with the group from earlier. First, the system only gave him exp if he was the one to
Jerouch again looked at the figure with wariness, and his face was dying to get an answer, and so was his fear creeping out. The figure looked like someone in his mid-twenties, and his sword-shape dark eyebrows accentuated his sharp raven eyes. '' Of all the people they could send, he was the one they chose. '' Karah muttered, frozen in one position in fright. A gentle breeze blew as the young man moved forward, and white scattered petals blew in every direction. The young man didn't speak, he only stopped when he was a couple of distances away from karah. '' You defied the imperial decree. '' A soft voice, that carried power and authority, reached Jerouch's ears. It was as if someone whispered. But the air of elegance and impassiveness that coated the voice made cold sweat travel down Jerouch's spine. '' I can ex… ''''You're not allowed to talk. '' The young man cut Karah off. Waving his hand, a purple chain made of mana was formed. The chain travelled, almost like it telep
[Quest- survive][Reward- An ancient staff][Staff of the ancient hermit- this is the staff created by the ancient hermit himself using the core of reality and the primordial mana. ][Attribute]Indestructibility[Host can not see the other attributes at his level]'' Holy moly! '' Jerouch facepalmed. '' Ancient hermit? Core of reality? '' His eyes were opened wide, twinkling in astonishment. He was sitting on a large rock under a big tree that formed a canopy that shielded him from the scorching sunlight. He had begun to find his way back for more than a week now, yet he had not gotten to the mouth of the forest. He counted himself lucky since he didn't encounter any beast throughout his return from the thick part of the forest. Jerouch didn't know, but the sheer presence of the young man that assaulted him several days ago had made almost all the beasts go into hiding. It was getting to two weeks, yet, none of them bother to come out. Not only that, his presence had made some
[Main quest- Find the divine relics of the past][Progress- 0/9.][Reward- ???][Punishment- absolute death.]'' This. '' Jerouch felt as though he was struck by lightning. '' Since when was death part of the system's punishment?'' His mouth was opened wide in shock, and so were his eyes. '' What are these divine relics? '' He asked, hoping to get an answer. However, there was no notification to clarify his confusion. Jerouch sucked in a deep breath, and then released it with a heavy sigh. '' I guess I've got no option. '' He popped his finger before proceeding forward. He was in a region with tall silver trees and grasses. The shortest tree reached a height of a hundred meters with dangling yellow fruits. The shrubs were also thick and tall which made Jerouch look like a dwarf. He had to use a wind blade and even fire arrows to create a path for himself. Fortunately for him, the black robe which he bought not long ago was doing a wonderful job as it kept him cool despite the
The guards too weren't completely useless, as they were able to eradicate the wolves. However, the bandits were a big threat on their own. Counting the number from each side, the guards together with the merchants they were protecting amounted to fifteen. The bandits, however, were about thirty, rugged, and better equipped than the guards. '' I'll wait until their number dwindle to ten. '' Jerouch yawned lazily. '' The strongest bandit is only an E rank, hmph. '' He snorted. '' Argh! '' He heard another cry not long after, and he finally decided to take action. He then summoned the sceptre he got from the system for the first time. The sceptre was two metres long and made of a grey antique metallic material that smelled of the long cycle of time. It had a purple orb attached to the top which also shimmered with miasma similar to the grimoire, and nine thin grey snakes twirled around the orb and the upper part of the sceptre forming a creepy enclosure.Even Jerouch himself got c
A large blue spherical wall was quickly made to protect the other bandits as Jerouch sent a couple of water bullets. The sphere rippled vehemently, but it didn't collapse immediately. This was the work of the mages in the bandit group and their teamwork amazed even Jerouch. Immediately the blue spherical wall finished its work, long arrows zoomed forward as the archers took over. '' Earth wall. ''A thick wall made of earth reaching about ten meters tall and several meters wide, sprouted out from the ground. Boom!Boom! The wall shook as it stood still, bearing the full force of all the arrows. Jerouch kicked the ground and jumped. He got to the top of the wall in a few seconds, and kicking it, he sprung forward, allowing gravity to act on him. Before he landed on the ground though, more arrows and spells were already heading his way. '' Foolish boy. '' The bandits' leader smirked. '' Exposing himself mid-air, hmph. '''' What is he doing? '' The merchants' leader tightened hi
