After dinner, everyone went to their respective rooms. The kids, Richard and I went to ours while the others went to the next room. It was quiet in the room except in the middle of the night. There was a siren. The fire alarm had been triggered. The sound was irritable, but it was dangerous. We all ran out of the room as I asked the kids to wait inside. Richard came out with a gun which surprised me. I have never seen him with one. But could that really be a surprise at that chaotic time?

"What's happening?" Richard took out a walkie-talkie he had with him and asked.

"One of the soldiers who came back is infected and has affected some of the others. One has entered the building, but the rest are locked out," a soldier shouted from the other floor.

"Everyone is careful. One of the soldiers you came with is infected and has affected the ones outside. I don't know the exact damage, but it will be handled. We are safe inside. Only one got in." he said when the soldiers on the other end st

It was getting late and if I didn’t find somewhere to take cover or hurry back then, I would be doomed. Before I drew near the house, I was shot at simultaneously. I jumped screaming and raised my hand. The deafening sound was real. I never imagined in my entire life that I would be shot at, ever.“Don’t shoot. • Surviving the Apocalypse with my son   Clearing the infected

Since we were driving on the unused road, the infected were few. I think it was because most people were caught unaware that’s why the effect was that much. The number of people that were infected was too many. I just prayed that my husband and kid were doing okay wherever they were. It was so hard to think our family was surviving in different routes with no clue where the others were. The worst part is not knowing whether they were alive or not.The phone disconnection was the worst thing ever.We were back to square one. The age where there is no communication.I didn’t know where my husband was and if he was looking for us. He may be a busy man, but he loved us to the core. He would do anything to find us. Now, that’s where the problem is. How will he find us? Suppose I found my son; where would we start looking for Richie? It was hard. Way too hard. Those were some of the worries that were on my mind. The car stopped ab

We had to figure out what to do next.Dan, I, and the elderly man moved ahead, trying to get rid of the undead following us. Since we left the field and entered the woods, we had to be careful of the hidden dangers in the woods. The trees were swinging. It would’ve been an excellent day to admire the beautiful rhythmic songs of the trees. At least that’s what I thought. There was no sound from birds in the forest. That could only mean one thing. It was dangerous.Following behind the old man, I carried the boy on my back. He was a bit heavy, but that was the only solution. I didn’t want him running off again in the face of danger.Old Kibali, as I called him, was so serious. He lifted his hand to signal I stop. I immediately stopped and listened as well. We could hear snarling sounds and rust

Involved with the release of the virus

The rest of the crew were happy with the treatment and a place to sleep. It was much safer and a great place to spend time before the virus could be developed.Richard was a beast. He could not let me sleep the whole night. It's like his life was active again. Like I was his antidote. He didn't stop until he was drained of all energy. The following morning he went o the lab leaving me sleeping in the huge bed. I cannot say it's a king-size bed, but it was better compared to what we had experienced the months before. I slept in late, and breakfast was brought in by one of the soldiers who brought us yesterday. I ate and looked for the kids. They had gone to play on an open floor in the building turned into a pitch. They were a basketball pitch and a golf pitch on the next floor. It was great for them to release their tensions sometime. I could see inside the other lab from the floor as the scientists went through the different procedures testing the rats set on small transparent boxes.

    Richard and the army

"Everybody down. Down. On your knees. Hand behind your head." They were too fast for us even to think. I held Javi and Dan and went on my knees with them. I could not give them a chance to separate us. I had hidden the gun, but I didn't know for how long though."Search them" I didn't even have time to breathe when the men came over to us. We had to stand and allow them to do everything on our bodies in the name of the search. The guy caressing my body was smiling evilly when Oliver ran to him. He tried to run to him but held back," don't you touch her." I had never seen such a look on his face. He was damn angry. It made me feel warm inside. Not only him but all the others were so angry, and you could see on their faces."Behave," the lead man said to the guy, searching for me. He saluted and looked at him in anger. He found the gun in my boot. I wore a piece of sheath down there. It helps to keep weapons hidden. They took all our weapons and put them down in front of us.
