Javi

As soon as we finished dealing with the undead. We turned to see people outside looking at us like crazy. It seems they had closed themselves the moment it started and have not experienced one on one with the Z's. A man in brown trousers, a black T-shirt worn with black sports shoes.

"Welcome to the warehouse. My name is James Kimili. I am the owner of the warehouse. There are others in here, but there are rules that you need to follow if to stay here for a few days. One. You need to know nothing in here belongs to you. Two. Don't take food without permission. Three. Water is limited. Use it sparingly. Also, the security here is good, but we all take turns guarding the area. If you are okay with, that then you are welcome to stay. Otherwise, you better go somewhere else." He finished looking at us sternly. I was mad. It's good to be strict but can we finish all the food in the warehouse in ago.

"Don't worry. I only want to see if my family are in there, and we will leave." I said bitterly. Mr. Kibali nodded in agreement. He also did not like the tone the guy was giving them.

"That's alright then. But you will have to stay for a while and make preparation before you go. Peter, show them where the others are." He said and headed with a few other men outside the main gate towards the outer gate. We were guided towards the main door to the huge warehouse. Outside the compound, you would love to play games. Especially the kids. Just kidding.

The atmosphere did not give even the kids the mood to play games. There were Trucks parked at the right end of the compound. There were the heavy load Trucks. There were five Trucks. From the look of it, it's the one used to transport food to a different part of the country and other surrounding countries as well.

The huge door rolled open, and the look inside was... nothing could describe the feeling. It was stuffy. It was not a safe place to live under normal circumstances. There were rows and rows of sacks arranged neatly.

"This way." Peter brought us round stack after stack of sacks towards the back. The sacks hard writing and drawing on them. I could see some of them clearly. There were rice, wheat, flour, maize, and so many others. After rows of sacks, we came across. Dozens of cooking oil. There are Jerri cans of them in rows as well.

"The food is abundant here. If we stay here, we would have food for 5 years if we have less than a thousand people." I said jokingly.

"No wonder that guy was so strict about touching his food." Mrs. Kibali said to them

"He probably thinks he still has an opportunity to sell them again when everything gets back to normal." Old Kibali said, looking at the row of food.

"Do you think things could ever get back to normal soon?" I could not help but ask again and again. I didn't know what would happen to us if all of that continued."

"Girl. It's hard to say. But I suggest you start accepting the situation as it is. It may take a long time to come back to normal." Old Kibali said, tapping on my shoulders. I almost cried. My family was scattered just like that. At the back of the warehouse, there was a door leading outside. The door was opened, and we entered another hall. The view there was much different was at the front. It was like home but designed the same as the warehouse. The difference was it had enough air circulating due to well-ventilated windows. The windows were huge made of glass. The moment I saw the windows, the first thing that came into my mind was: In case the Z's attacked us, would they enter through them. But surprisingly, it seemed they knew all of that. The windows were grilled with strong metal rods and very strong.

If the people inside start fighting among themselves, then that would be a huge problem if one wanted to run from the window. The thoughts on my mind were crazy that I laughed at myself. Even so, I could not help but myself all those questions. Even since the pandemic, my mind has been looking for an escape route in case of an emergency.

At that moment, a beautiful voice came to my mind.

"Mum. Mum, you find me." I turned to see my son running to me. The school driver was right behind him with some of the kids.

"Javi. My son. I found you. Are you okay?" I ran to him and hugged him. Tears trickled down my cheek, choking on my own voice. I could not believe I had found him. Being out there in those two days was hectic, with little hope left. Especially when fighting all those Zs. It was like getting the hope down on each one I killed.

"Mum. I knew you would find me." He beamed happily, hugging me hard

"Yes. I would have looked for you everywhere. No matter how long it took me. I am glad you are okay."

"Thanks, the driver. He took care of us. Even though the people were selfish, he fought for us, trying to get the good things on them. He is really strong" I laughed as I looked at him.

"Thank you very much, teacher Daniel. I know it has been hard on you, but I owe you one."

"It's okay. I am a father and hope someone took care of my son. It's also my duty to take care of them when the parents are not there." He said, scratching his head embarrassingly.

"Okay. I can now sleep peacefully for an hour or two. I am exhausted," I said, standing back on my feet holding Javi. At that moment, I turned to see Dan holding a woman crying. I looked for the old couple and went to them. Teacher Daniel was a teacher and also picked the kids to school and back. He followed me towards the couple.
