A mutated demon is a demon who devoured its own kind and developed a craving for it. And since demons are not supposed to eat each other, the effects of a demon eating another will result in immense changes in the body of a demon, and that triggers the mutation. The next day, the group are now at the first division tent that guards the hole as it is being fixed. Because of his insubordination, Kendrick is not being allowed to go anywhere further the hole, unless ordered too. The other two were left off the hook as they attacked alongside Jason. However, Jason does praise Kendrick about his victory against an odd, mutated demon, since not every student can do it. Sylvester and Tray are assigned at the center division of this platoon. They replaced the fallen swordsmen and women, and they are going to be there until the deployment ends. Meanwhile, Kendrick is just sitting with the so-called give upers as they tell their story at Kendrick. Since Jason went off to report the incident and bring some sample to the forensic team, Kendrick has left with no job and orders, so he just sat there and listened to their stories. It turns out that some of them have been here for almost a decade now, and some are witness of the sudden puncture of this hole.

The punishment for that law breaking act of them would be 15 years in prison, or even execution at worst.
