Whiskey & Whispers

“Useless!” Silas exclaimed as soon he heard the news about his baits, Sid, Vatican Sol, and Trevor.

Jared Khan watched him, his eyes picking up every action. Silas Homer was acting like a man who had lost it.

Not that he ever acted any better. Jared thought.

Silas frowned, “I at least expected more from Sol. He should have reported back now.” Silas complaining about Vatican Sol’s subpar performance surprised the rest of his party.

Jared and Edward Dennin, who walked in on the statement, shared a glance.

“What's wrong? What happened to the rest?” Edward asked.

Jared Khan didn't give him any response. Instead, he stood up and walked to the mini bar at the north end of the dimly lit room. A large window stood behind the small floating stall of wine.

After pouring himself a whiskey, he lingered for a few minutes and took in the scenery he saw from the outside.

Their house was on a hill, one of Silas's most treasured houses in the nation.
