These past four days have been rather difficult for me because of cold, headache, cough, typhoid, and on top of that, dengue attacking together. Luckily, I was able to get tested early, otherwise, things would have gotten worse because I was unable to even stand or sit for long three days back. My platelets were starting to drop back then. I'm taking medications now. I still haven't recovered that much, but I'm healthy enough to squeeze a chapter out. Thanks for your patience because I know that I've slowed the posting rate recently. I will pick it up once I find the right balance between the ongoing novels. Either way, this novel is about 70 percent complete. Major conflicts are incoming. I hope the chapters will be thrilling enough for you to remember them for a long time. Cheers. And be safe.
“Don’t you want to know where your brother is right now?”Gabe frowned. “Where is he?”[Don’t listen to her.] Systa quickly said. [It’s not Sevyn or your mother talking. It’s some random demon.]Gabe gritted his teeth. “How would a demon know about my past?”[That’s a valid question. Obviously, they are spirits and have been living for a long time, so they have got a big network among themselves.] Systa opined. [I’m not really knowledgeable about the spirit realm, but I do know that nothing good will come out of dabbling with those spirits. In the end, they’ll just want to steal your soul.]Gabe still kept his grip on her wrist tight. He didn’t even blink as he was fully scrutinizing her expression. She looked angry and happy. It looked like her face might boil and look like another person’s face. This was something he had never seen before. It was quite bothersome, but he refused to show weakness in front of his wife, especially when a lot of things were at stake.“Why are you hurtin
“Your body is much better than this one,” Sevyn sent flying kisses to Mia. “Why don’t you let me take over your body? In return, I will teach you how to use the Luna system.”“Do I look like such a big fool to you?” Mia coldly stared back at her. “I have my system to help me get used to it. If I encounter any trouble, I have Gabe to help, too. So, there’s just no need for me to listen to your advice. Even if there’s a need, I wouldn’t trust anything that comes out of a demon’s mouth!”“All demons are not evil,” Sevyn replied with a smile. “Some of them are quite honest and kind and loving. Over the years, we’ve helped many people master these systems, whether you believe it or not. Otherwise, how would I be able to confidently say that I can teach you? You can ask your system if you want.”“Is what she’s saying true?” Mia asked Stemmer.{It’s only half-true.} Stemmer replied. {There were indeed times when they helped the system users, but in the end, they always brought harm to the us
“Syslon, the mysterious city of systems, is a place that even a demon like me doesn’t dare to enter,” the demon told, shivering like a squirrel’s tail. “Not because the people there are physically strong like you, but because of the technologies and the systems they use. Some of them are very sensitive to spirits, and they can imprison us like you did now.”“I’m not interested in what kind of a place Syslon is,” Gabe coldly said, still trying to intimidate the demon so he could get the important information. “Tell me about my family members. My parents.”“Your parents’ past is shrouded in one big mystery,” the demon said in a dramatic manner, annoying Gabe on purpose. “I do know that they were forcibly taken away to Syslon, but I don’t know what happened to them afterward.”Gabe gritted his teeth. “Are you taking me for a joke?” His fists were covered in blue lightning.“No, wait, kid,” the demon quickly said, backing away to the other side of the prison. “I might not know about your
In Ambience high school.A man in his early thirties was teaching students during science class. “Our bodies are always changing. Physically, we’re not the same as we were yesterday, and we won’t be the same tomorrow, either. We’re electric beings. Our flesh and bones keep changing every day. Old cells die, and new cells are born with greater resilience and adaptation skills.”“Isn’t this just evolution, teacher?” one of the students asked.“No, it’s just adaptation,” he replied, adjusting his glasses a little. “There’s no proof for the theory of evolution, and like the name says, it’s still just a theory.”“Why is it not evolution but adaptation, teacher?” another student asked. “What’s the difference?”“If you throw a kid into a swimming pool again and again, he’ll learn how to swim eventually,” he stated. “But if you throw him off the cliff? No matter how many times you do it, he’ll never be able to fly. Do you understand the difference now? We humans grow and develop with effort, b
Ulmer was only a few years older than Gabe, and yet he had already been an emperor of one of the most mysterious places in the world, which was said to be technologically advanced and was believed to hold so many secrets of the world? This was something highly unbelievable to them. How can such a young man be the emperor of a great city? But this doubt then led them to realize that they never had such a doubt when they heard that Micheal was the emperor. Micheal was the same age as Gabriel, after all.“I know it’s hard to believe, but it is the truth,” Ulmer calmly stated. There was not even the slightest air of arrogance around him. He seemed very well composed and showed traces of being a ruler in the past, with the way he handled himself now.Just then, a lady in a long braid came to the backyard and served them food and drinks. She looked so pretty and homely. Mia couldn’t take her eyes off this woman’s braid.“She’s my wife Ayana,” Ulmer said as she sat down next to him. Her smil
“WHAT?” Gabe raised his voice.“Calm down, Gabe,” Mia quickly said and then looked at Ulmer. “We’ve told you our situation, and all the things we’ve been through. So, why can’t you give us some simple information on his brother? We’re not asking about some stranger. Michael is his brother. You yourself said that they both look similar. That’s because they’re twins who were born and got separated on the same day…”Ulmer’s expression slightly changed, but he was still crunching on the biscuit, which began to annoy Mia now.“Will you please stop eating and tell us something?” Mia asked.“It’s your family issue, so don’t drag me into this,” Ulmer said. “If you want to go to Syslon, I can take you there in a heartbeat. But… I want the assurance and surety that both of you will not steal a single system from that city or harm its citizens for no reason. Even if you think they’re being unreasonable, bear with it. I’m not telling you to not fight back if they attack you, but avoid any kind of
Gabe and Mia were brought back to Mia’s house by Ulmer.“I’ll come back tomorrow as you wished,” he told them. “I cannot help you on this trip, so you both will be having to deal with the things there while laying low. If they realize that you are outsiders, they won’t necessarily react negatively, but if an outsider also has a system that’s especially powerful, then you’ll be hunted down. After all, I was chased in the same way a few years back. The scars I have left on that city are yet to heal, so I’m taking a risk by sending you two. You are going there to find your parents and not for fighting. Don’t forget that, please.” Saying that he teleported away in the blink of an eye.“It’s not my first time seeing it, but it’s a cool ability,” Mia said. “I wish I had that ability. It’ll be pretty handy.”Gabe sat down on the couch, looking like a lot has been going on in his mind.“Why did you ask for a day?” Mia asked.“I think Systa won’t be able to accompany my mom while we go to Syslo
Sevyn woke up in Russell’s estate. To her puzzlement, she didn’t remember sleeping here, but she wasn’t too shocked because she trusted Mia, though she didn’t trust Gabe.Because Mia was around, she believed that Gabe wouldn’t have done anything stupid while she was sleeping.Nevertheless, Sevyn felt like her head was heavy and hurting a bit.Mia timely brought a big cup of coffee and offered it to her. “Drink it, and you’ll feel better.” She didn’t tell her that the coffee was made by Gabe who was in the kitchen.“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have fallen asleep here,” Sevyn said, grabbing the cup and enjoying the fragrance.“Don’t mind it,” Mia smiled pleasantly. “You can stay here for a few days if you want.”“No, no, I can’t take advantage of your good heart,” Sevyn said.Just then, a fat young woman entered the building. Sevyn recognized her because she was their classmate Cynthia, the woman who used to eat the pencils and erasers of her classmates when she was little. If anybody bother
