“She is infected,” Adam said, even before Jared could ask.

“No,” the latter said automatically as he shook his head.

“Yes, I would lie about that,” Adam said sarcastically.

“No, I don’t mean you are lying. I just... please don’t kill her.”

“Why not? She is a threat to us all. Unless you want to be her first victim, tell me why I shouldn’t shoot her right in the middle of her eyes.”

Adam had no remorse at all for the man’s pain. In fact, he wanted him to feel as much pain as he could.
