His father had no other choice but going into the house to share with his wife what his son had just told him. He went upstairs to the bedroom where his wife was. She was arranging clothes she had got from laundry in the wardrobe. David approached her and decided to share everything with her including, why he had left the military.
Once David entered the bedroom door, she turned to look at him. From the look on his face, she knew something had gone terribly wrong.
“That is not the face I was expecting. I assume things did not go as expected with your son,” Jessica expressed to him mockingly.
He sat on the rear edge of the bed, “Actually, we have talked more than I thought we could. We made a good connection and, I got him to open up…although…it was short-lived,” he exclaimed.
Jessica stopped folding the clothes and looked at him, “Then what happened after the connection…Did you lose the signal or what? Anyway, I am just curious. What did you have to say or do for his attention? I never expected you to spend that much time together.”
“The truth…my dear…I just told the truth. As a father, I have a way with my son…you know. I decided to share what I have been keeping from you two about why I left the army, which…you also need to know.”
She sat on the bed beside him to give a better ear, “Well, leave your story for another day. Right now…tell me about Jonas.”
He turned to look at her, “Okay, after I told him my story, he opened up about school and the reason for his low grades but…the truth is…he really needs help.”
She moved closer to him as she got more curious, “What do you mean? Is that why he left; you lecturing him about how he needs help!”
Defending himself looking somewhat confused and worried, David responded, “No. I did not lecture him. We just disagreed when he claimed to be stressed because, and mark my words, he is afraid of what he might do to the rude boys in school.”
Jessica looked to the side briefly and back to him, “That’s interesting. What about it?” she behaved as if she was trying to access her memory.
“Apparently, your son thinks he has a gift, or, some sort of powers; powers that make him very dangerous to the very huge-intimidating boys. As if that’s not enough, he talked something about dreams.”
He reached his hand to hold hers, “do you remember the dreams he used to have as a child…the nightmares?”
She placed her other hand on top of his as well, “Of course, how can I forget? I used to wake up all the time at the middle of the night to get him back to sleep; what about them?”
“He claims that, after he discovered his gift, he had an epiphany and realized they were not just dreams as well.”
Jessica seemed interested in the topic and wanted to hear more, “Aha, and what did he say they were if not dreams? What did he epiphanize them to be?” she asked with marvel.
“He says they are visions about the world and what is about to happen,” David answered.
On hearing those words, Jessica went mute and froze a few seconds. She looked like; she had an epiphany herself, or, she was wishing to turn back time and make some adjustments. When David saw her reaction, he was worried and wondered about what his wife knew more of their son that he never knew.
“Honey, what’s wrong? Did I say something bad or, why did you just go mute? Why are you acting strange just like him? You are getting me worried here, talk to me.”
She switched back to her usual state, “Never mind, it’s…it’s nothing. You said nothing wrong; I am fine. It’s just that…” she implied pulling her hands away.
He grew impatient, “Just what honey? Talk to me, I am totally freaked out right now. What’s going on?”
“About those dreams and the epiphany…how did he mean the world was coming to an end?”
“What is the meaning of that question? Does it really matter how the world ends…an end is just an end.”
“It may sound strange and not important to you but, I need his exact words describing it,” she insisted.
“Alright; he did mention people’s talk about the apocalypse…something in relation to Revelation, and…by the look of things, my world seems to be ending right about now. Please let me in, what do you know that I don’t?”
She stood up on her feet and walked to the window. She then looked outside, “Those were the words she used to describe it.”
David stood as well and walked right to her, “describe what honey, and…the she you talk about…who is she?” he asked.
She turned to look him right into the eye, “I never thought this day would come but, it seems she was not deranged after all.” She added.
He reached and took both of her hands and they faced each other, “What day and who was not deranged? Can you stop speaking in riddles like Jonas and use proper language that I can understand…please? In case you forgot honey, I am just a soldier…a sniper…not a linguist or a literature teacher in some College or High School.”
She released one of his hands and turned pulling him towards the door, “Sorry about that but, I think you need to come with me on this one. There is something I would like you to see first.”
David resisted pulling her back as well, “Before we go to wherever you want us to go, does this have to do with what Jonas was saying being true?” he pried.
She turned to him, “How I wish it did not, but, I would rather you give that answer to yourself after seeing what I have to show you. Some things are better seen than heard. To see is to believe…you know.”
He softened and decided to follow her to wherever she had in mind to have him answer the questions he had.
His wife led as they walked down the stairs from the bedroom through the living room downstairs out of the house. After they reached outside, she walked him towards their miniature stowage. David was already scared to the stomach… soldier or no soldier. Even they that fear not people nor animals haveth fear for the unknown. He tortured himself with questions about the mystery ahead that would explain Jonas’ claims of being a psychic and or a herculean. Any normal human being would wish such contentions last words coming from the mouth of another, and with possibility of being true and the reality. He tried to hold his cool but, the thought of what was about to be revealed at the storage ridiculed the cool. In other words, he was not ready to accept the becoming reality. He found himself in Jessica’s shoes a while ago, mute and somewhat frozen. Just a few minutes later, they entered the storage. Jessica reached for some old shield-like metallic plate and pulled it as though she wanted
After Jonas rode off, he decided to visit one of the few places he liked and wanted to be. He might have been a middle-aged youth with women phobia but he was still a man. He had to have someone to harness his feelings as well despite the fact. Just to let you know, he had phobia in the midst of girls not a girl. He went to be with his one true friend who he hoped to be his girlfriend with time. The girl was his best friend but was not always so. She gave him the company and the connection he could not get from others. After all, being with her was a guarantee to not having to answer stupid questions about college or anything Jonas did not like. That made him free around her and hence, they could talk about anything and do almost everything whenever they were together. I can tell what you are thinking about right now and the question you are about to ask but, the answer is no. They had boundaries not beyond being there for each other and sharing wonderful moments. Besides, Jonas coul
Back at Jonas’ home, his parents were still searching for the answers. Finally, his mother bumped into a book that she believed had the answers and, the directions for the path they wished to follow. She took it off the shelf and called David for them to have a look at it together. It was time to show him why their son’s talk of having powers would be true and why it all had to do with her grandmother, or in other words, their bloodline. “Honey, I think I just found the journal I was looking for. It’s time for me to answer all your questions now.” David stopped looking around and joined her to have a look at the journal, leaning closer to her. “It sure looks like giving us all the answers we need.” Wiping cobwebs and dust off his face, he asked. “Is this the proof that, indeed, my son is not mentally disturbed?” Turning her eyes up from the journal to his face, Jessica answered, “Yes, it is”. She opened the journal. The inside had nothing extraordinary except for the fact that, i
Jonas was still enjoying every moment with his girlfriend. It was time to find out her reaction towards gifted people. Jonas had the right test for that. As usual, Jonas was not the speedy type of person. That meant that, before he could ask her, she did manage to ask him hers first. “Jonas, you know I love you, right?” “Of course I know you love me and I love you too. Why do you say this Kate? What‘s up? What do you have in mind?” “Nothing, it’s just that… I wanted to ask you something and, please tell me the truth.” “Okay, go ahead and ask. If I have the answer, I will surely give you.” “I know that those boys chasing you around do not make you perform poorly in class. I know you well. There is something more besides the bullies. After all, these days they are getting tired of it. What is really bothering you?” “Well Kate, I will not lie to you. The truth is I did not like this school at all. In fact, I never liked being here at all. All I ever wanted was to be out of this neig
Finally, Jonas got home. He parked his bike in the garage and entered the house. His parents’ vehicles in the garage; he knew they were still at home. In slow and soft steps, he sneaked; he did not want them to hear him. Too bad, he thought he would sneak. Eagerly, they awaited for his return. In the living room, he bumped into them; just seated waiting for his arrival. Why they were waiting for him in that manner; he could not hitherto apprehend. His parents however, upon his entry into the house, were mollified. From the look on their faces, Jonas knew that whatever they had for him was definitely new to him. He just wished it were not a continuation of his father’s lectures about seeing the doctor. His father, still making up for past, broke the absurd silence. He took short strides towards him, “Son, it’s good to see you back. I am sorry about earlier. It was wrong to talk to you the way I did. I should have listened to you,” with his right hand, he reached for Jonas’ shoulder.
As Jonas and his father were busy learning more about their lately discovered gifts, the police and other security departments had some drudgery as well. The rate of crimes in the city had gone up. Each day would have a new arising or a mysterious murder. The police found mysteriously murdered people and without cause. Something was off about these crimes though. Most of the time they would find a dead body, it would have writings on it and most were completely drained off blood. It looked as if whomever that was killing these people had a craving for blood. Looking at the bodies, one would think that a wild animal attacked them. As these crimes grew, the people’s panic also intensified. The rumors about the day of reckoning became more real by the day. These killings led the people to believe that there was a demon walking the earth amongst them. There were theories that hell had broken loose and that Satan and his Agents were roaming the earth to destroy it and the people in it.
They went into the captain’s office to let him know of this new development. John narrated his dream to the captain and handed him the newspaper article. Captain Meake was not the type of people that believed in ghost or demon stories. He was the type that believed not the existence of such creatures as the demons and beasts. He could not buy any of the stories they told him. He did give permission to proceed though.Meake stood from his chair and walked round his desk to where they stood, “So John, what you are trying to say is that people are being killed by a beast that was written in the Revelation?”“Yes sir, I am afraid that’s the truth… sir. I wish it wasn’t.”“No John, tell me something better than this. How do you expect me to tell this to the director when he calls me? That the demon in the book of Revelation came to life and is killing people in Kibich City, or, that the world is about to end? It
Jonas and his father David had left the house. They were busy trying to find a way to make Jonas’ newly discovered powers take effect. Jessica on the other hand had nothing else to do apart from being a mother and a wife. She was doing her normal chores in the house when she heard a knock at the door. She was not sure whom that could have been but went forward to check. Before opening, she had to make sure it was not the demon killing people hunting the chosen. With her son having the gift, she knew that, in one way or the other, the demon would know about it. Although she made sure people had no clue about Jonas’ potencies, she knew a day would come for them to know. After this, the so-called demon could try to get rid of the one thing that could stop it from accomplishing its mission.Upon looking outside, she was relieved to find out that, it was not the demon but Kate. Jonas’ girlfriend decided to pay a visit. Apparently, she could not live longer
A while later, they arrived at the location and took cover leaving only Claire. Such an ambush was the best advantage they had against the Clairvoyant. He had played them long enough. It was time they got to be one-step ahead of him.On his arrival, before he could even get a chance to leave his vehicle, they began to give him their best. Indeed, he was the true Clairvoyant for bullets did not seem to have much effect on him. He switched to his alien form to deal with them squarely as well. He was one very ugly beast in his alien being and scary to even look at.As Jonas was busy weakening him with his powers, the rest of the team was busy giving him everything they had. Indeed, they were very ready for the battle. They had gotten every weapon they could get their hands on at the precinct to fight against the beast. He was one tough alien to kill. Were it not for the Chosen, truly, the world was doomed and about to end. All the power he had to challenge Jonas with and
A while later, they arrived at the church and got the key. After putting it to the port, it was a perfect fit and the chest opened revealing yet another scroll for them to read. As usual, it was another paradox that they needed to solve if they were to be anywhere near making sense of it.The message read, ‘He who is chosen has everything needed to defeat the evil one. His weakness is his greatest weapon and tool against he that seeks to destroy. Beware, he has to be defeated before the sun meets the moon else, he shall grow strong and will be unbeatable. In the shadows, he has lived waiting to the time. When the time does come, he shall have the power of the seven equestrians in one body. You must not let this happen, otherwise, the world is doomed to come to end. As always, you should have faith and believe in yourself for only then will your weakness be your only strength against him.’Having read the message on the scroll, it was clear to them that inde
On another part of the city was Jonas and Jean as well. It was also their first time in an amorous relationship with each other. Since theirs was more of an ambush, they had not a good chance to properly express each other’s affections besides the stolen glances to each other as they worked together. They too decided to make up for the lost time. Unlike John and Claire who were trying to build a relationship from a first date, theirs was different.Their first date came after their relationship had already taken off. His visions, Rebecca’s journals and the chest made it so. They had gone out for their first date as well. They were not the hotel type though. Instead of booking a table for two at an elite hotel, they decided to make theirs unique. They chose the top of the greatest tower in the city for their venue. It was the very same place he kissed his first girlfriend Kate for the first time. The date was not as normal as any other first date. Theirs inv
The Clairvoyant was no more. They finally culminated the case. Being free, it was time to embark on other better things. After the captain’s burial, it was time to concentrate on their lives. They had spent so much time working the case that they did not have enough for leisure and personal lives.John embarked on his new mission, to take Claire out as promised. He prepared himself and dressed to look his best. That day was one among the few countable that he wore a tuxedo. He surely looked good in the black so-fitting tuxedo. After the meticulous preparation was over, he walked out magnificently and drove to Claire’s place to pick her up. Considering the fact that fate had taken Jonas from her, she needed to give John a chance. After all, she was also very eager to hear what he had to say. He had promised her an explanation on how Ruth was not his wife nor Eve his daughter. After a short drive, he arrived at her residence. As usual, in his hands was a bouq
Indeed, their plan worked so well and Peterson fell for the trap, so they thought. What they did not know was that Peterson had something in store for them as well. Instead of showing up at the hospital as they thought and expected, he planned a rendezvous of his own. They had made a good plan but with one omission; the Clairvoyant was as clever as they were.He knew their greatest weakness was caring about people. He knew they would go to any lengths just to save a life. He got hold of a few hostages and called David. He instructed them to head to his rendezvous point if they were at any position of saving the hostages. That was the time they fully realized that he would have never fell for their first idea about David trying to make him feel guilty. Since they had him believe Jonas was hospitalized, they had to keep it so. Someone had to play the role of Jonas. Peterson made his plan just to make sure Jonas could not show. They decided to give him just that. J
Jean flipped the chest around looking for anything after the fact. Indeed, this time, she found something. On one side of the chest was the message, ‘His weakness is his greatest Weapon’. It was yet another riddle for them to solve. The question was what weakness it was and how it was his weapon. As they tried to figure out what it was, Meake got a call from the CIBSC director. He was required at the CIBSC headquarters for matters concerning National security. He left at that moment leaving the others trying to solve the riddle.According to what they thought, Peterson was just another clone. Still without any other clue pointing to who the Clairvoyant was and to make sense of the message on the chest, they just had to conclude the obvious; the Clairvoyant had impersonated Peterson. With that in mind, they just had to find Peterson’s weakness and use it against him. It was the only option making sense. Had Peterson been a clone, the chest could
Early the following morning, the task force gathered at the precinct as usual. It was time for them to find out more about the chest and how it was a weapon against the Clairvoyant. It was no ordinary chest though. Unlike any other normal chest, that one had no opening seams. It was smooth all round and more like a solid cube.Jonas tried everything he could think of that could have opened it but to no avail. After several failures, it was the time they remembered the part about the Chosen’s better half. They shifted from trying to open it to figuring out who the better half was. Since Jonas and Claire were dating at the time, they suggested her.Although they had not dated for long, there was no one else in Jonas’ life. She had to be the one. Since they did not know of what the better half was to do, they just had her hold the chest in her hands. Still, there was nothing to show for it. The question they all asked was who else it could have been; there was
Upon arrival at David’s compound, they all left the cars and walked following David as he led them to the stowage. Upon entry, they saw the enormous shield first. It was then that they suspected to be at the right place as well. He just did as he saw his wife do and the floor clicked. Some of the other members, the likes of Matthew and Ruddick, were scared.Into the spiral stairway to the underground they went. A short while later, David lit the lanterns as Jessica did. They walked on to the enormous door with a riddle for a key. This time, David already knew about it. He pushed and they got inside. He then walked to one end of the stowage where he had seen a spear when they were in there with his wife.Upon lifting the spear, it offset some kind of a trapdoor. It was at the highest part of one of the walls. It became the source of light from outside. David was astounded by the fact just like the others. He never thought the room could have a window. The opening
Those were the last words of the journal. From that moment on, it was time for Jonas and his crew to figure out the riddle and get that which he was to use against the Clairvoyant.“Can anyone just make sense of what we just read? It’s not that I do not understand but, how are we to crack this riddle this time?" Meake questioned very curiously and looking confused.“Well, as you have heard, the Chosen is said to have everything he needs to defeat this evil one and who happens to be the Clairvoyant in our case,” Johnpaul responded.“Is it me or have anyone else heard something about God speaking and his anger and plead to turn back to the ways of the light?” Matthew asked.“I have heard that too. I just wish someone would tell us more,” Jean uttered.“That’s a good idea. We should start by turning to the ways of the light ourselves. Honestly, I have never understood how bad our situation is
