The detectives and both Jonas and David followed the Officer to the crime scene. For all the others except Jonas, seeing a dead body was nothing new and reason for blood rush.
To Jonas though, seeing a body lying down lifeless was not something simple but he had no choice but to harden for the task ahead. He had to help solve the riddles with the hopes that it would help catch the executioner.
Without much ado, Detective Jean uncovered the body so that they could see the engravings on it. It was not a good sight. Just like the other victims, the body was blood-drained. As if that was not enough, the killer had also removed some of the internal organs and sewed close the body. Indeed, things were getting worse by the day and each body they found. The killer was becoming more creative. He needed stopped or things could get worse.
This time around the killer, so they thought, had two puzzles for them to solve. It was time for Jonas to have a look at the body and te
“These two verses, what do they have in common?” asked Detective Jean.“They talk nothing about any of the dead bodies or how they died but, of a fallen Babylon and Immoral kings,” David said.“Maybe not dad; they do talk about how the victims died.”“What are you saying son?”“He means, the victims’ death had something to do with this dying Babylon and the immoral Kings if I am not wrong,” said Jean.“Exactly my point; what if these codes were not just written there by the killer? What if someone else is trying to reach out to us with a message on how to put an end to the murders?” said Jonas.“What is that supposed to mean?” asked Detective John.“He thinks there is a higher power that is helping us get this killer?” said Detective Jean.“No Detective. Not trying to let us find the killer… far from it. This
The wise said, better the devil you know than the angel you know not. I also tend to say that, sometimes, the angel you know might be the devil you know not about. Jean was sure that she had a partner who was always there for her.Someone who could take one for her and she still did. John was the kind of person no one would ever suspect had anything to do with the killings or knew anything about them. One could always think that he was as in the dark as Jean and the rest. Maybe, this was the reason they also said that, it is not a good thing to judge a book by the cover. It is always good to have a peek inside the covers before you can think of judging. Well, we cannot say the same for our friend Detective Jean though. Hers was an open book that had secrets beneath those innocent-looking pages.Does this mean that, whenever we find an open book for us to read, we should always watch out for secrets within the pages? This I cannot tell but, what I can tell is, th
At the precinct, it was time for the team to gather all they had for use and reference. This included Jonas’ book of dreams back from the captain, any articles about Rebecca and the journals they had by her about the same. They were no longer in search of the killer but the theory behind the killings as well as, the reason for the inscriptions on the dead bodies. To add to what they had to use for the research on this lead they had, Ruddick, the forensic analyst gave Detective Jean another call.On having a look at her phone and saw it was Ruddick calling, she knew nothing comforting was about to come from his findings. He had finished research on the letterings found on the dead bodies. He finally had news that he needed to share with the detective. Ruddick’s research had just revealed; the tattoos on the bodies were imprinted using a tattoo ink and equipment that could not be found in any tattoo store throughout the world. What that meant was that, the wr
Finally, the day was done and it was time for the team to break for the night. Jean requested the Captain to let David and Jonas go home for they had helped them much in the cases. She also pleaded with him to let her work with them to solve the cases until the end. The Captain was not to object this because; even he had seen how they had helped in the case.“Captain, I wish to have a word with you a moment please... in private,” said Detective Jean.“Of course detective. What favor do you want me to do for you this time?”“Well, I am just asking you to let David and Jonas go home for the night. They have surely helped us.”“That will not be a problem. You also knew that we could not have them spend the night here in the precinct, right?”“Yeah, of course I knew about that. Sorry, maybe I played the role of detaining them a little too much and was carried away.”“I understand
When David and Jonas arrived home, Jessica had everything with her at hand. She was ready to hand over to them to help them with the case. They could also help Jonas so that he could understand himself better. If he was to be at his best, he needed to know himself better and, more so, about his newly acquired friend.Rebecca had written quite a number of journals in her lifetime. She also happened to name them in a sequence that one would be able to follow even without her being present to guide. She knew that whatever she saw was greater than anyone was and could happen long after she was gone. Indeed, she was right. It did happen years after she was gone. The mysterious thing though was that, all other books and pictures were there except for two. One of the journals was missing and one picture was missing as well. Thanks to her organizational skills, Jessica could be able to tell the two were missing. That yet brought another dilemma for them. As far as Jessica was
The following day early in the morning, as usual, it was time for all to prepare and head back to solving the murders. As David was preparing himself to head out to the precinct, what he saw on the television was no good news. Their day had started on a very low pitch. Immediately his phone rang. It was Detective Jean calling. She had also seen the news and was calling David to confirm whether he had seen the same. All the channels were reporting breaking news that morning. The Minister of internal security was reported dead after being involved in an accident while driving home from his office the previous night. These were no good news. Such a high-ranking officer in the government dying was a big blow to the Nation and very suspicious given the circumstances. The government could not sit this one out. He had to be replaced immediately or the country was about to break into chaos. A Nation without the Minister of internal security even for the shortest time was like
On the streets, things got worse by the day. More chaos were arising with each sunrise. If one did not know better, one would think that the devil had given birth and built a habitation on earth and needed to feed the off springs. The world was turning into his playground slowly with every single death on the streets and the gradual rise of chaos in the city. Someone needed to do something or the situation was getting out of hand. The following day, as the detective and her team were busy trying to get the connection between the death of the Minister and the other previous bodies they had found, Ruddick the forensic analyst had some more news for her. This time, a call was not enough to tell what he had just experienced. He had to go to the precinct to tell whatever he had found out that morning after reporting to work. Lucky enough for him, the detectives were still at the precinct and had not left yet. In fact, Detective Jean had reported to the precinct very
Jonas laughed at the joke. They got into the car and headed for the morgue to try finding some answers to the disappearance of the Minister’s body. After a short drive around the city, they arrived and entered the morgue. Indeed, it was just as Ruddick had explained.Nothing was out of place and there was no sign of breakage or violence. That indicated whoever had taken the body must have had easy access to the morgue. The only problem was that, Ruddick was the only one with the keys to the morgue. The other pair of keys was in the custody of Kibich Central Teaching and Referral Hospital (KCTRH). At the time, none of them thought anyone would even get access to the keys from the hospital. The fact was, no one thought about the keys to have been taken. They moved around looking for clues but found none. Even in the security footages, there was nothing at the time the body disappeared.Whoever had taken the Minister’s body was good and must have
